She wasn’t terrible, and certainly wasn’t getting slammed anywhere for her portrayal. Of course there are better actresses out there, but the producers have specifically stated they want a LGBT actress in the role. That certainly limits the talent pool. The first season ended fairly strongly, so I’m interested to see who they recast, and also when (inevitably) it leaks why Rose left a role which was a huge step in her acting career.
Can someone give me cliffs on what the major (or rumored) differences are between these two cuts of the film?
This is it. From the reports today it looks like it was closer to 4 hours and it might be split up into 6 episodes/mini series.
Going to cost $20-$30 mil. Cast members might film new scenes. Sounds like the voice actor for Darkseid is already in.
Spoiler over the time travel stuff ... if that is where they end up, I expect a lukewarm response (partially seen as an Endgame copy)
I am looking forward to it, even though I though Man of Steel was mediocre and Batman v Superman was a total mess. I still want to see what Snyder was planning with the weird Flash vision that Bruce had in BvS. Remember that thing that was 100% ignored in Justice League? Worst case scenario: This movie is just as bad as JL, but in different ways. It's ignored and forgotten. Middle case scenario: It's better than Justice League and forces Wheddon's horrible movie to be retconned out of existence. Best case scenario: It's actually really good and WB/HBO greenlights Justice League II so Snyder can finish the story with Darkseid, etc.
I don't hate the JL movie but the plot hole thread made me wonder. If they defeated Steppenwolf on Earth the first time and had the Lantern Corps with them, why give one of the boxes to an unpowered mankind and not send it to Oa? Having all three unlimited power boxes on Earth again was dumb. Always bothers me.
Lanterns were supposed to be guarding earth. We don’t know where they were. They were supposed to appear at the end of the movie to Bruce at his lake house. I’m guessing we would have gotten some info on why they didn’t help?
The concept of doing the opposite of the MCU by doing occasional solo movies is dumb. Those solo stories are what gets the crowd invested in the characters and story leading up to the huge crossover movies. One positive is WB/DC hasn't blown their load yet on Darkseid to the audience and treated him like Singer/Kinberg did with Apocalypse (yet). Darkseid should have a multi movie arc.
I want to see the first draft of JL they couldn’t film not this proposed Snyder Cut that’s just an extra 90 minutes of the dogshit we already saw and hated
I don't get the fascination with the Snyder cut. It's no different from BvS, which some people think got better when they released the extra 30+ minutes extended version or whatever that was with the Blu Ray. The problem with Justice League wasn't "there's not enough stuff in there." It's that the stuff that's in there sucks. I really doubt they're sitting on some gold mine of great stuff that wasn't allowed to be in the movie in favor of that stupid Russian family.
They changed the entire over arching structure of the DC universe when they switched from Snyder to Whedon. Steppenwolf makes references to Mother several times, Darkseid was going to have a Thanos like cameo, and I think they were going to have the Batman v Superman comic book arch where a Darkseid turns Superman “evil” (iirc in the comic it’s supergirl) and the Justice league has to go to Acropolis to save him. From what I read, it’s 80% different and was set up for a few more movies.
Set up for one more movie, I believe. BvS, Justice League, Justice League II. That was the three-movie idea Snyder had. Kill Superman, turn Superman, save Superman. Snyder has never lacked an imagination, he just usually sucks in execution and in nailing the finer points of storytelling.
The marketing for this new cut is hilarious. Whose cut is it again? I can't quite tell by the small font used. I get that you need to easily distinguish between the two versions but stop acting like Snyder is some world class director.
His best films are whenever he rips the source material off directly and adds some modern flourish and style. Watchmen, 300 and Dawn of the Dead (which is more style than substance in a film that was the definition of gorilla filmmaking).
Even Chris Nolan hired him for Man of Steel because he saw a great visual style and knew he just needed a good screenplay to direct. None of the Snyder DC movies (sans Watchmen) had good screenplays.
And trying to pull off the DC version of Thanos in 3 movies with Darkseid is how DC ended up as the homeless man's version of the MCU. Just about every decision made with DC property sans the Nolan trilogy and Wonder Woman has been completely baffling. Its like they just one day decided that "Hey the Avengers worked because they had 5 movies to set the stage so we'll do Justice League with 0 set up, the audience will still love it because Marvel already did the leg work and loosened the jar"
No argument here. DC should have done Man of Steel Batman reboot Wonder Woman Aquaman Man of Steel II (BvS if you must) Justice League
That was the original plan but only at the very end. It was to lead up to the next movie. I’m excited to see if that’s the same plan or they go full on ahead with him in this.
Does the Snyder cut have 0 mention of the word "Martha"? because if it doesn't there's still no salvaging that dogshit of a movie.
The suit will look better at night. Most Batman suits look funny in daylight. Adam West's suit worked in daylight, but Keaton, Kilmer, and Clooney's did not. Bale's first didn't, but the TDK suit did. As good as Affleck's suit was in dark settings, it was embarrassing in Justice League.
