Pretty much Youtube Tv is the most popular streaming service in this thread. I have it and love it. The unlimited DVR is fantastic. I also run Plex and combined it’s more than enough for what we need.
if you want live TV, then go with YoutubeTV if its meh to you, I would just get Netflix + Hulu no ads plan for like half the price plus you get just as much content imo
Yep, I don't watch any live TV at all right now. I'll probably resume when college football is on again. Netflix + borrow from Torrance
$50 is a lot more than i expected to pay. I think my cable package with hundreds of channels is about that cost.
If my mom didn't use my YTV login I'd probably get rid of it temporarily as well Nothing on TV I care about watching these days
to be fair, it may not be truly pointless, but more accurate to say the value for you, without sports, is not there. My usage is down incredibly, and would have looked at pausing, but since my wife wants news coverage, part of her job requires following these press conferences and resulting orders, restrictions, etc - we now get usage that way. Thankfully English soccer is returning in 3 weeks. I'm already watching german soccer live on YTTV via Fox Sports.
Nice thing is you can go monthly without penalty. I am pretty much only paying during the football season. I've used quite a few different providers at this point, last one was Sling, wasn't bad at all. Other parts of the year I am using the antenna which is fine, honestly don't even watch it and dont miss anything. I also go month to month on Hulu and HBO depending on what we are watching. We always have Netflix and Amazon because of the kids. Once they are gone I will eventually go month to month with Netflix as well.
How is the feed? Any sort of lag or blurriness during a sports event? I'm thinking I'd do YTTB and an antennae (assuming I'd have good reception) as the antenna is a small fixed cost. And maybe cancel YTTB during the summer or lamer parts, like you.
If a game is on one of the major networks I prefer to watch on the antenna. I’d say picture quality is better.
Uncompressed. I have found YTTV picture quality to be better than satellite or cable, but OTA will be the best.
yeah, I’ve actually been surprised with YTTV’s picture quality - it’s at least as good or better than what I had with DirecTV
Motherfucker. I was literally just about to switch to a combo of YTTV and Philo. Edit: Is it $65 including the Viacom channels? Looks like it. I’m officially back in because I can ditch Philo, which I only planned to add for Nickelodeon for my kids.
All those channels suck. How much was the price increase? Whatever it is, it's too much for 100 hours of Ridiculousness every week on MTV.
yeah fuck that Netflix/Hulu no ads is about a third of the price and just as good imo unless you just absolutely have to have live TV because there are no sports right now
Ease of use is still a big thing for me. The fact that I can easily watch sports anywhere is worth the increase. I am sure a few more prices increases will change my mind but for now, whatever.
I mean sure it sucks now, but I can cancel without penalty until sports are back. Another thing that beats cable.
Yeah for sure. My thing is I am already paying for a ton of other bullshit that I would pay for with cable. So if it comes down to YTTV and xFinity costing the same, I would still take YTTV because it’s mobile and there are no commitments. If it gets costlier than xFinity, than I’ll see what I want to do.
Just from a quick search I have YTTV now more expensive than two DirecTV packages, one Dish package, and one FiOS package. $5 cheaper than an Xfinity cable/internet bundle that includes Peacock. How much do y'all pay for standalone internet? I've had it provided by my building for several years now so I'm not up-to-date on that cost.
i was going to sign up for YTTV in my new apartment but i don't think $65 is worth it. i'm pretty sure cable is the same price at that point.
It’ll just depend what you want. For me, I wanted to be able to watch CFB with no issue. YTTV has every channel I needed beyond PAC 12 network (lol but which companies actually have that) When I asked for a better deal from Comcast, they offered me 185 for cable and Internet with two boxes, but Big Ten network was a separate tier that cost 15 a month. So I am at 200 there already. That also includes HBO. I was already paying for Netflix and Hulu so whatever. Now I get every channel I need for sports for 65. I pay 70 for internet and 15 for HBO. For me, it works out way better still. That was also like two years ago, so maybe the tiers they offer changed but I don’t think so.
It’s like YouTube forgot why people went to them and other streaming TV competitors in the first place.
I care about CFB, PGA, NFL, and F1 in that order. One is currently happening in season (PGA) another is starting up this weekend (F1) and the last two *should* be starting again in ~2 months. Sports are back baby!!!
fuck. With no PSVue and now Youtube TV going up in price, what is the alternative? Price goes up August 21. So I will wait until then to cancel.
Call me crazy but I wish YouTube would bundle TV and Premium. edit: in before “use adblocker” I watch a lot of YouTube on my phone. Preemptive edit: I don’t have an adblocker on my phone because I have an iPhone and a mixed ecosystem.
So even at $65 it's a helluva deal for me. When I had shitty ass Cox cable before it was $110/mo iirc with their normal cable lineup plus add on sports pack. Not only am I still saving money its just a much, much better product. All the channels I want (except RedZone), more customizable, WAY better DVR, more convenient across multiple platforms and devices, no hardware, etc....I could go on.
