What "The prevailing theory right now is that the British actor could show up in Black Adam or Shazam! 2 to set the stage for some sort of epic battle between the trio, but ComicBook.com has shared their own report which definitely puts a different spin on Superman's DCEU future. According to the site, "Cavill's Superman will operate in a similar capacity to Marvel's use of Nick Fury and the Hulk, appearing in films for a supporting role or even smaller cameos. The future of Cavill's Superman has not yet been fully decided, and it sounds like Warner Bros. and DC Comics are still figuring out where the character best fits in upcoming films." https://www.comicbookmovie.com/supe...witter)&utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=175691
So one of the most powerful characters in all of comics swoops in to give advice regarding a worldwide threat he could possibly end, and just takes off to do his own thing? Definitely sounds like Superman.
They should do what the animated studio did. Have Superman show up to fight Adam only to get the beat down put on him and then have Shazam and him team up to win... It's easy enough to do, but I doubt they'll do it. This movie would fucking do numbers, obviously he already has his powers so the script would need to be changed. But Shazam, Black Adam, Superman battling it out with a good script is easy money if done right. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superman/Shazam!:_The_Return_of_Black_Adam
That could definitely work. One of Superman’s big weaknesses in the comics is to magic. He doesn’t have any of his normal immunities to it, so he struggles against characters like Black Adam. It would be a great way to set up Black Adam’s power level to have Superman get beat down by him. Cavill could certainly sell the shock on Superman’s face when he realizes Black Adam can actually hurt him. I actually like that idea quite a bit when I think about it.
I like the idea of using Superman as the MCU version of Hulk/Nick Fury - it’s difficult to tell a good story with Superman since he is essentially indestructible, and kryptonite being his only weakness is getting stale and old. However, him being weak to magic is kinda cool, and I think over time you’ll see fans possibly wanting a stand-alone Superman film after he’s appeared in several DC films as a supporting player.
There is so much untapped potential in Superman movies. Three-quarters of a century worth of stories written about him as a nigh indestructible god but Hollywood keeps churning out the same stale ideas. Where is fucking Brainiac? Superman needs to get cosmic if they want to make him work.
No clue why the keep rehashing Luthor and Zod. They did screw up Doomsday pretty good, so Im assuming they'd do the same to Brainiac, Bizarro, Parasite etc.
Snyder’s overall vision wasn’t wrong. Darkseid is and always has been the greatest threat to Superman when it comes to power level. The idea of setting up the New Gods in the DCEU and building to an eventual confrontation with Darkseid is a fantastic idea, and I wish it had been executed with even some semblance of proper storytelling.
I don't know what they were thinking by trying to merge The Dark Knight Returns and The Death of Superman into one movie
At least they're finally admitting what people have known for decades, Superman is fucking boring, the very essence of the character is for it to be fucking boring, anything even remotely interesting about Superman is about the non Superman aspect of his life or simply plot devices that are annoying minor road blocks.
Superman has some really good villains. They're not using him properly because they're morons. One big problem is they never do Lex Luthor any justice. He's one of the best villains our there and they consistently fuck up his character. Also am I the only one who's gotten to a point where it's just weird to see a white Lex Luthor? I know he was originally white, and Gene Hackman played him in the original movies, but this the only Lex Luthor I'm use to seeing. So any time I see a white guy play him it's like "O, shit that's right Lex is a white character and animated DC universe just deprogrammed me into thinking he's always been black"
I'm pretty sure he's white there too, just that his skintone is darker than others. The same thing happened with Harvey Dent in Batman TAS. edit; Turns out he was intentionally colored by animators to have an ambiguous race. That's neat.
Easy solution would have been turn Bryan Cryanson's Lex Luthor into a mostly Justice League/Batman villain for the expanded universe, its fucking 2020, you don't need to paint by numbers on source material as long as the adaptation is good, stop treating your audience like they're paste eating dumbasses. But they're morons so...
Wasn't the back peddle fallout for that shit fest that was BvS that Eisenberg's Lex Luthor wasn't the real Lex or some shit?
I’m still a fanboy to the idea Cranston is the “real” Lex and Eisenberg was playing his son, Lex Jr. In my dreams, right?
He was Lex Jr. He said his dad died in BvS. Cranston could have faked his death or almost died/in a coma because something Superman did?
Lex is suppose be good looking, I get that Cranston played a bald guy in breaking bad but no. Cranston is not pulling Lois Lane/Mercy/Tala and is not peak human form plus he is near the same age as superman not a grandpa.
Charisma, charisma and intellect above all else are Lex Luthor's biggest defining traits, you don't think Bryan Cranston of all people call pull off a charismatic cult of personality mastermind?
You're talking about the same people that picked Jesse Eisenberg to play Lex Luthor the first go around, "better option" to them might mean Dane Cook or some shit the second time.
The only way to salvage lex is an established actor who can really lay into that role. Cranston is a great fit but if they want to go the racial route, it should be someone who the audience really believes can be a baddie. Eidris Elba Lawrence Fishbourne Forrest Whittaker (don’t judge me) Denzel Washington (they cant afford him)
Finally got to see this because SyFy started airing S1. Had no idea it was so good. Watching it also made me think of the FX Deadpool animated series from Donald Glover that got canned for some stupid reason.
Maybe I'm just wearing Nolan glasses but those look nothing like a "batmobile", just like tricked out chargers.
I like DC more than Marvel and I'm just constantly disappointed by the crap they throw out there. People trying to act like Snyders cut is gonna somehow make the universe not dog shit are amusing to me.
