There's good fishing on Section II also. I grew up going down Section II and camping halfway. My wife and I have done it several times too.

so what in your experience tells you about the fishing lay of the dam or spillway ?are you using a fly or whole corn because of speed of water and flash attraction ?
dough balls will not workbecause of speed of water.
a hot dog piece may work .trout have eye recognition german browns react different to flys than other bait .
try wadeing and flying at start of grass aand end of fast water on oppist side of current flow .
they are not a catfish in high speed current browns like slower water actually like heeber springs and remmel dam .

In my experience trout in the rivers are usually near the faster water hanging out in front of or behind rocks and ledges. I catch plenty in the churning water after rapids. It's a lot tougher to catch trout in the slow, dead, deep water. On the Chattooga at least, that's usually brim territory.

When fly fishing, I only use dry flies, I don't really enjoy nymph fishing. Otherwise, I use 1/16 or 1/8 silver/gold on black rooster tails.

also just take the temp of water.
go to guid and see what your normal water temp for browns in your area is it maybe different in Indiana than Colorado .

    challange huh ?
well you are correct about rocks then your useing a predator aproach.
well then tell me about the comparison to the closest brown holeto this river or creek situation because browns like deeper water especially big ones .

or lake Catherine to san raybourne resivor .
    same deal.
after larger side of deep water then you have different fish adapted do different water flow .

In SC Brooks are native and the fish hatchery stocks the rivers with Rainbow and Brown. I catch all in the same locations.

Explored a new stream near the UP, caught my favorite net on a branch and snapped the swivel clean off, discovered a small leak in my older Simms, cruised past a black bear on a forest road

Dozen brooks made up for all that. Caught on caddis. 20200521_163344.jpg 20200521_161243.jpg

Finally got a chance to go trout fishing this year so I hit up the Chauga.. Was a little dirty due to all of the recent rain, but got a couple nice 10" rainbows and almost got a similar sized brook.

One of the biggest rainbows I’ve ever caught.
Landed her on the Caney Fork River about an hour East of Nashville. I’m used to stocker trout having grown up in TX/OK. Threw her back so someone else can have their day filled with joy. So much fun.

Night crawler with a salmon egg

she came right to shore after the bite by the second I tried to net her she took off about 20-30 yards.

14-21” must be released and she was about 24” but felt today wasn’t her day

I think that would be close to a record for what you could get out of a river here. A good size here is 12-14 inches.

So is the answer get new ones? There's a local shoe repair store, maybe I could try there. Or I'll just wear old tennis shoes.

i would let a repair store take a look at it, they might have a way to fix them better than the DIY stuff. I got these last spring before a trip and have used the hell out of them, $33 now https://www.sperry.com/en/h20-marit...y2-vUUncAe37fPLL9XBoC9kcQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

i have a pair of simms sandals and those were my go to, but these are just as grippy as the vibram soles on the simms.

Just had one of the better fishing days of my adult life. Obey River in Celina, Tn. Cooler full of fish, including another 20" rainbow. Tossed back 3 that were 16-20". Now bedtime.

the tailwater section below Dale Hollow? I have seen that on maps and always wondered how it fished. I talked to a few spin guys that fish the cumberland a lot nearby there and they showed me pictures of brown trout they boated that were well over 20".

yea it’s only a few miles long and dips into the Cumberland

Dam had allegedly been spilling with no generators the last few days. Too foggy for me to tell, but the river was about 30 yards wide and I had a hell of a day. Just terrible at documenting it.

It’s still hot as fuck in the summer, especially if you’ve hiked in with a shit ton of gear you almost certainly won’t need unless you don’t have it.

My wife and I went back trout fishing today. Had no luck with the fly rod no matter what I used. Had a couple bites and 2 get off the hook. Her rooster tail did fine and I caught a few with the spinner at the end. We're taking the kids trout fishing tomorrow and then having trout for supper.

No. I tried various Adams, Caddis, Stimulators and then switched to various nymphs. Also tried the dries with the nymph droppers. I do have some San Juan worms, but didn't try them.

I usually just resort to switching to a spinner with a gold/silver on black rooster tail. I looked and nothing much was hatching.
