I would definitely watch crimson dawn/maul stuff. I liked solo, but also don’t need more of his story

Watched TROS yesterday while working out, so it wasn't a complete waste of time

What a high production value stinking pile of shit. He took a bunch of Star Wars characters and made a film, but it wasn't a Star Wars film

    I wouldn't call it a film.

Films need a plot, a logical progression from point-A to B to C. Films need characters that incite conflict and react to it.

TROS was just set pieces loosely stitched together.

Kirk basically goes from being at the naval academy to captain of the most advanced aircraft carrier in the navy in like a week. That's arguably worse than the OJ chase in TLJ

    Are... are you serious?

Every criticism of JJ is ALWAYS about his "mystery box" set up. All build up, no delivery. Literally the opposite of what you claim.

Yes......yes I'm serious. There's no substance to what JJ gives us.

He gives audiences what they want even if it doesn't make sense from a character or plot standpoint. Having Kirk suddenly be the Captain of the Enterprise suddenly is a great example of that. He knows it's what the audience wants even if it doesn't make sense.

I've seen plenty of articles written about it. Here's a good one.

JJ is all about starting a story with an intriguing premise.

He also has no idea how to be subtle, making his plot resolutions ham fisted.

Obviously every story, be it a first movie in a series, a first episode in a show, a middle story or a last story, they all have plots with set up and payoff. The final movie of a series is all payoff. Naturally he dropped the ball by paying off everything in the most hamfisted, clunky way.

I still don't blame JJ for this new trilogy debacle. He was never supposed to direct the final film. I blame Kennedy for not having a plan going in.

Obviously no one knows if he would have pulled it off, but I’m still shocked how much better Trevorrow’s script for TROS sounded than what we actually got from JJ.

He only directed the first World. Which, while it was a deplorable pile of shit, made all the money. I don't think that one factored in their decision.

I don't want to defend CT too much here.

By all accounts he was arrogant as fuck and that, combined with the aftertaste of Jurassic World (initially beloved but very quickly people soured on it) and the total disaster of Book of Henry made it so that he had very little sway in terms of decision making on Star Wars. He lost his stroke so he and KK parted ways. That's my take on it.

His Duel of the Fates screenplay had a lot of problems, but they were different problems from what TROS had. I think I would have hated it less and maybe, with a second and final draft, plus editing, etc, I would have enjoyed it overall. No way to know.

CT is getting the benefit of back up QB syndrome. He's sitting on the bench with a half decent idea while the starter is throwing pick 6's on every drive. At this point it doesn't matter that he was doing the same thing when he got a shot, the SW fanbase would take ANYONE else at this point.

I definitely think his films would have still had problems for the same reasons I said earlier. They didn't have a plan going in.

And apparently Kathleen Kennedy always wanted the Emperor brought back. So she was probably pushing for that dumb shit.

Or you can take two hours(!) and watch Jenny Nicholson break it down

    Question for you all.

I only have 2 episodes of season 6 left and am planning to move right into season 7. I have been following the Star Wars website and have gone in Chronological order the entire series.

I checked the website today and noticed that season 7 was not released in chronological order, so my question is what you all would recommend.

Should I watch season 7 in order of the release or do it in chronological order?

also, the ending of season 5 was just outstanding.

It's honestly irrelevant the order. Think of it as 3 movies. The first 2 are concurrent prequels that don't relate to each other whatsoever and the 3rd is the Main event.

The more I think of it, I prefer the release order for reasons I will put in spoilers because you haven't watched yet
I like that you get the entire Ahsoka arc in one shot considering the Bad Batch arc really is a bunch of filler.

I think the Bad Batch arc is necessary to tie up loose ends and put a close on that aspect of the Clone Wars show.

Oh yeah, I agree with that.

I guess season 7 was always meant to be about closing loose threads from the previous seasons, both the military aspect and the Jedi/Sith mythology aspect, whether they directly related or not.

And to be fair, the military aspect was pretty much wrapped. The 5s arc explained how Order 66 could happen despite the bond between many Jedi and the Clones. There really wasn't anything else that needed to be done.
The bad batch opened a thread by saying Echo was alive and then closed it.
