i'm going to be curious if the anti-vax movement starts to become partisan since the educational shift is enormous the left used to have plenty of conspiracy theorist types which go with anti-vax'ing but it centers on people without college education which those folks have shifted to the GOP dramatically maybe our lone bipartisan issue is gone
Someone enlighten me on the point of asking one’s political party in a poll about getting vaccine? Seems like the two should be exclusive.
We live in a country where people base their daily decisions to appease political parties. People are risking the health of themselves and others in some weird attempt to prove their allegiance to political affiliation.
I just audibly Ho-leee Shit’d at work, AZ jumped to 1,127 new cases reported just now. Probably a catch up to yesterday’s underreport of 187 after 702/790/681 over the previous three days. edit: 599 new here in Maricopa County. Super great.
As the board’s resident low T centrist, I’d like to say fuck anti vaccination advocates of all political affiliations k thx bye gbr nfm
Also, Mississippi would be the State to keep an eye on as they’ve typically had the best rate of childhood vaccinations. But they’re also fully riding that GOP death cult now too.
Not at all surprising with a lot of people acting like it's not even an issue and everything opening back up.
The entire state of Michigan has been under that 599 number since May 13 and under 300 daily since May 20, and were not reopening significantly next Monday. Hopefully that's a number that gets averaged out to something lower for that county.
It’s okay, Governor Ducey was swift to institute a curfew for the rest of this week! Fuck him and his spaghetti spine.
Best I can tell, those face mask bandanas only come in patterns that make the wearer appear like a complete wack job
During the lock down I had one employee in quarantine. I currently have 4. Gonna be hard to run a business with no employees here in a few weeks. Guessing the government didn't consider that part of the equation though when rushing to get businesses open.
That’s a good spreadsheet. I wish that I had done one. My theory was that yesterday’s low count simply reflected decreased reporting during the weekend. Today’s jump seems to support it, but I cannot say for sure that it does. We’ll have to see how next weeks trend goes.
When I update tomorrow, I’ll take a capture of the other sheet. Has tests, cases, CFR and I broke out infection 2x rate for my county and the one where my wife works to gauge the spread.
Good luck. MS did that and no one is policing it. The restaurants and hotels here are packed along the beach and had a record breaking May. Casinos had their best Memorial Day weekend in history here. All at 50% capacity. Covid numbers here are going to be massive in 3 weeks I fear
Couple morning updates: Gym morning #2...someone did actually wear a mask to class this AM. Amazingly. Towards the end he was having to step outside during rest periods to take off the mask and panting like a dog. Looked miserable, props to him he’s way more badass than I am. Buddy is flying this AM for the first time since this all happened. Said everyone on flight is wearing a mask (roughly 60% full) because it’s required, but almost no one had one on in the airport. Flying Delta from ATL
I can only imagine what spin would be like with a mask I’ll just wait till this passes if they make us wear one
Where do people keep getting fireworks from? Keep getting gunshot notifications and it's just fireworks almost every time. I guess people were stocked up for the 4th of July?
Ohio went from 1950 deaths over the weekend, to 2200 yesterday. I know Tuesday is usually the big number day, but I don't think it's jumped up that much before. Fiancee says main campus hospital is at like 90% capacity and her off campus branch is like 75%
The article said that 4 companies are making good progress. That means the chances of getting a vaccine that works are better than if only one or two were doing the research. Also, factor in expedited government review and approval. yesterday Fauci also said that there’s a very high chance that the vaccine will have limited durability. Coronavirus vaccines typically only provide protection for about 6 months and almost never more than a year.
Not really, the mortality is very low except for the 65+ age group. Those are the ones who will still be most vulnerable for death if a lot of the population declines vaccination. The biggest impacts will be people missing work due to quarantines/self-isolation and, down the road, impacts of chronic diseases caused by C19. If the mortality rate was significantly higher probably most of those people would accept the vaccination.
Govt also granted a manufacturer over half a billion dollars yesterday for scale up - I assume in advance of knowing if any of them work.
Our gym is taking a lot of precautions. You're not even allowed to rerack your weights. When you're done, you throw them on the floor and staff comes by to disinfect and rerack.
Fuck yeah - administration needs to get its ass in gear. Would be a nice PR achievement if we supplied the vaccine to the world since we look like complete ass
