Wow, just looking at responses. Surprising, figured everyone would support black face which, to be clear, I do not.
I was avoiding that because it depends so, so much. So many variables. I was super into white dials a few years ago, but have come around with the thinking that black is probably the safest. So I'd say with no other considerations, black.
paying >20k for a <14k watch isn’t something I’m trying to do. I’d buy one today from an AD. Would never pay extra from some clown watch flipper. I don’t care about depreciation as I’d never sell it. I’m just not paying 50+% more for a watch over msrp
Kyle I’m proud of how far you’ve come financially since the days of lying about your neighbors cat leaving paw prints on your make believe Range Rover and drunken cop car smashing rampages. This new version of you that can afford $10,000 watches seems to be much better off.
The cat was most definitely on the rover. Wish I still had that car but now I do have a cat. I keep mine indoors and off any terrorist’s lists
My OP started as white dial. As soon as it was received it was changed to a black one. Black is nicer IMO.
Orange. The 216570 Polar is almost perfect to me. I keep waiting for a black ceramic bezel update. :swoon: Edit: The 50th Anniversary of this watch is next year, so I'm sure there will be some kind of update. I'd be shocked if they didn't do ceramic bezel.
Black ceramic would be perfect. My brother bought a 16570 a few weeks ago, then flipped it within 2 days with some cash for a Sky Dweller because he hated the non-maxi case. Probably would've kept a 216570. I prefer the orange hand to the red as well. The red doesn't pop at all.
I'm on this as well. Was actually showing the wife the polar as a possibility for my next acquisition.
3 black/7 white Of course the white is several hundred more expensive assholes FTR, i really am going to buy a white dial based on this vote. I would have bought a black if it had won as well. Order is going in now. I'll unbox and wrist shot when it gets in.
Sold my buddy on the Pelagos LDH I considered buying. Will be bringing him to the AD tomorrow to accept their gratitude & jump about 100 fuckers in line for the next difficult to acquire piece I want
You, your buddy and the 100 fuckers in line are bad people for buying a watch in times like these Spoiler or so I have been told by someone on this site
I had a patient about a week ago that I really bonded with and we were just talking about everything and I had mentioned that My mother and I both had recently got new cars and he thanked me for stimulating the economy.
WTF? I am shocked at how many pieces are moving. Really thought we would see an influx and some price drop, or more than we did.
No it's not. I think someone looked through my post history and used it to take jab at me. In all honesty I've been in a very bad mental state for a few months now (virus related) and if this brings me a little bit of joy then I think it's justifiable because I have not been very happy whatsoever.
I get it - I’m heading that way right now. Haven’t done any retail therapy yet but have been eyeing a few items (even though I’ll be wfh for a while). And settled on my next watch as well. Trying to develop my “strategy” for any other pieces and if I’m going for 3, 4, or 5 total watches. Probably just 3, but that varies by day.
I've been struggling with this as well. With the Speedy & BB58, I've got a solid 2 watch rotation, covering any scenario, but... I still want a NOMOS I'd like to upgrade my dress watch from the Tissot Visodate I'd like a GMT / World Time watch I could address this with 1 watch (NOMOS Zürich), or 2 (Nomos Metro Datum Gangreserve + GMT to be determined later) * I prefer option 2
I keep eyeing that Oris Big Crown Pointer Date. I think that one is next. The green looks good, but that blue speaks to me....
The laco 1925 websites just screams my name, but I have a bunch of citizens I don’t wear, because of my apples and Garmins. Do I just pull the trigger knowing I’d wear it 15 times a year?
I lurk this thread because I like watches but am not going to spend thousands on one; so I live a bit vicariously. It was a bad joke made in the cop/protest thread. My apologies.
Honestly, none of us need more that a $25 Timex. I wish I was never introduced to luxury watches and/or that I could be a one wacth collection guy. Not a cheap hobby to enjoy.
I look at the NOMOS Osiris daily. Really love the clean minimalism with the touches of color on the hands and indices
Think it was a mistake. Went to Farer page and they’ve pulled the ads. So keep an eye out, if interested.
I think they're ETA quartz, which I think is a really nice option for people who willing to go the quartz route. Only $625. On the topic of yesterday about buying luxury watches, all 3 (4 if you count the Tudor which I am selling to fund this recent purchase) of my watches will be able to be re-sold for probably 80-90% of what I paid for them. It's a pretty nice feeling knowing that you can still wear and enjoy them for however long you want and if you want/need to sell them, you're only going to take a very small loss overall and you still got to wear them while you owned them. On the other hand, I could have bought a new Toyota RAV4 for the price of the watches, put 20k miles on it, and sell it for a fraction of the price I paid. The right luxury watches can be a very safe, enjoyable investment.
