Yeah, if you have cravings knock them out at once. Remember that you still have to process all of the glucose out via burned energy so the more carbs you eat the longer it takes to get back. All day-ones after a cheat are not created equal.
Yeah, I can put on 5 lbs having a cheat meal. Of course, eating the whole pizza and half the carton of ice cream will do that. Lou Malnati’s pizza, rebel ice cream, and these keto friendly wraps and breads have been tremendous in keeping on track. Still have a F it meal every once and awhile but if it takes you the whole next week to get back down to where you were, I feel like I wasted an entire week.
That is really good. I buy it as well. but homemade Caesar is worth the few mins it takes to make garlic Salt or anchovies Dijon Lemon juice Olive oil Parm
It depends on your metabolism and ultimately difficult to monitor if you don’t want to finger prick yourself every day. I want to be able to eat clean but not worry about the carbs from ingredients/seasonings etc elevating my carb total. That’s too restrictive in my personal experience. IMF works really well for me because even if I go a bit overboard and kick myself out of keto, the fast until the next meal I have is likely to burn any glycogen off and have me back in keto. Exogenous ketones are also a cheat code for staying in ketosis, but hinder weight loss
Some of those (keto bread, fat bombs, low carb pizzas) arejust to not go off the rails more than keeping me on the diet. They’re stop gaps and not recommended except upon occasion. Stick to real foods as much as possible
Portabellas stuffed with sausage, a bit of ricotta, some Rao’s pizza sauce, topped with mozz and baked at 375 for 30-35 or until brown is delicious as well. Good pizza/lasagna flavor and fits a lot of macros.
Yeah there’s nothing proprietary about that Lous recipe, can easily make it in a casserole I agree slogan119 I keep a couple cauli crusts in my freezer not because I enjoy them but bc it keeps me from picking up the phone and ordering delivery if I’m in a shit mood or something
It’s 115 for 6, which is what I buy. Have one once a week it satisfies a craving and the numbers on it are good. Quest also makes a pizza that has 50 carbs in it for the whole thing but 38 of that is fiber, so only 12. It’s a cheap frozen pizza but still tastes like pizza.
Yep, they come in a dry ice cooler thing and I just throw them in the freezer. Add toppings as needed. They take awhile to cook (40ish mins) but they are really good.
Just had Rebel Triple Chocolate. Yup, y'all right. Its the best Keto Ice cream. Dethroned my champ, Enlightened Red Velvet. I'm sure there's some better but I won't go over 5g per pint.
dblplay1212 primal kitchen dressing is legit, all of them. I stay under 20 a day. love the quest pizzas, definitely fits the bill for me. Going to pick up those cauliflower crusts tomorrow for pies.
To be clear, its all about net carbs right? So a wrap with 12 carbs but 9 fiber only counts for 3 toward my daily total right? Made some chicken wraps with some carb friendly sauce. Think 3 small wraps was 12 total with wraps and sauce. Each wrap is 3 net.
Well hot damn this is easier than I thought. Just gotta make changes to some of the base items but I can still eat a lot of what I normally do. Biggest issue is sides but I can deal without them normally.
Yep. It’s easy to get into a groove and find stuff that works. Grilling has really made it easier for me. Also got some shake mix that has great numbers for a snack. Ketolgie shake mix on amazon. It’s pricey, but mix it with some unsweetened almond milk and it’s delicious. I mainly just eat grilled veggies (broccoli and cauliflower) with everything but bagel seasoning as a side with grilled meats.
Be careful though. Not all sweeteners are keto friendly. A lot of items will say zero sugar but will still increase your blood glucose levels, which will kick you out of/prevent ketosis. Malitol is a big one. https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/keto/sweeteners
That was what I used on my BBQ chicken. And Quest also has some chips, both BBQ and Doritos-like, that are OK.
We have a Woodman’s that carries them. Prob not at WF. Maybe at a Publix and if not they can prob get them.
Wasn't sure if it would list the sweetener. Honestly I've never read that far into the ingredients. Calories, sure. Malitol? Never heard of it.
The most common one I see is erythritol, which has no affect on blood glucose levels. It will be listed as a sugar alcohol under the carbs, which you can also subtract from total carbs along with fiber. Honestly, the packaging for most things will say how many net carbs there are, since a lot of people are looking for it. I just go by that. The hardos in this thread won’t always agree with that, but I’ve lost plenty so it seems to work for me. I don’t really even know if I am in Ketosis. Don’t really care. I eat 25ish net carbs a day and take in a moderate amount of calories with very little sugar. And consistently lose weight. Good enough for me.
same with their bbq sauces finished up some pork belly burnt ends with their hawaiian bbq and it was delicious
When your diet consists of high levels of fats and you're not in ketosis the long term effects could lead to cardiovascular disease. Losing weight is great but you should probably get your lipid profile checked.
Yeah maybe. Maybe I phrased it wrong but I guess I don’t know why I wouldn’t be, based on my breakdown of fat/carb/proteins. I guess it’s more I think I am, but don’t do the pee tests or anything to confirm, because I feel I am following the principles appropriately. If I wasn’t in ketosis based on the test, I don’t know what I would change. Either way, I feel really good while doing it and only do it maybe 2-3 months at a time before cycling off. I eat way more veggies, way less crappy, empty snacks, way less sugar, better and more regular digestion, drink less booze, and way more water while doing keto. Feels like that should be a net positive on my health, regardless of what a pee strip tells me. I am curious about what my lab values look like, as I am about 40 lbs down from my last physical. May look into it at my next one.
I don’t know how y’all use that sugar free bbq sauce. The sweetener kills it for me. I just use Scott’s vinegar based bbq sauce.
Alcohol sugars also negate the carbs. Russell Stover has the sugar free candies (peanut butter cups and pecan delights) that I reach for when I need to satisfy the sweet tooth. It's hard not to pound the entire bag.
their honey mustard is decent Used to make homemade sweet baby rays if you google it, it’s easy to make
wife and I did keto for all of 2019 6 months of 20 carbs (net), then 6 months of 30-50 (for me, she stayed at 20) We only like 4 cheat meals that weren’t when we were on vacation (anniversary and birthdays) We got pretty good at making our own desserts. Going to go back on it once our kid is born. I haven’t gained too much weight back (only like 4 pounds). Been off since mid-December. Don’t feel nearly as good
this has been my main reason for staying at it i was gonna break this past winter (what’s winter without hot coco, pie or some stick to your rib stews?) but after 3 days of various rice or potatoes i felt like dogshit
Is loss of appetite common? I eat that Jimmy Deans breakfast at like 10am and then I'm not even remotely hungry again until like 4-5. Last couple days I ate a single chicken thigh around 4 and then a salad for dinner and that's it. Don't remember the last time I shit either.
Yeah. I got way less hungry when my calories were all protein and fat. Shits are few and far between.
