I dont like 90% of their stuff but some of their pop tracks are pretty good (this must be my dream, love it if we made it, & it's not living) i've listened to about half the new album and not sure if/when i'll finish it
Have never really listened to them but this new album has been on repeat for me all weekend. Really good
kind of dig this, its like older beach house meets big thief (Im bad with comparisons, but it makes sense in my head)
she’s pretty big in the LA singer songwriter scene. more like julia jacklin/sofia wolfson/hand habits/runnner
Beach Fossils releasing a special edition of their debut album to celebrate its 10-year anniversary comes with a previously unreleased single called Time
these singles are really doing a terrible job of tempering my expectations after one listen that's legit up there with the best stuff they've ever released, for my tastes I'm gonna drop coin for this album
I have never heard of these British girls Big Moon until a youtube rabbit hole, but I like these songs:
wanted to like their last single with my boy Jon Theodore providing the percussion, glad to see this one genuinely hitting a spot here
kind of shocked here, on an inebriated second listen, this didn't quite live up to the hype I bestowed upon it still a great song, but may have been a touch premature with the "best stuff they've ever released" bit I get excited sometimes what can I say
Bent Arcana - The Gate Spoiler Oh Sees frontman John Dwyer has formed a new group called Bent Arcana which features TV on the Radio's Kyp Malone, drummer Ryan Sawyer (Gang Gang Dance, more), bassist Peter Kerlin, saxophonist Brad Caulkins, keyboardist Tom Dolas (Mr Elevator & The Brain Hotel), guitarist Marcos Rodriguez, violinist Laena “Geronimo” Myers-Ionita, tenor saxophonist Joce Soubiran, and percussionist Andres Renteria. Their self-titled debut is out August 21 via Castle Face. https://www.brooklynvegan.com/oh-se...na-with-members-of-tvotr-more-stream-a-track/
Dwyer seems pretty fond of releasing long repetitive tracks that don't go anywhere as singles lately. Band sounds cool in theory though.
Crucial cause, the greatest band: https://theconstantines.bandcamp.com/releases And a fun little bonus story courtesy of Hold Steady keyboardist Franz Nicolay (which was promptly deleted): I can corroborate this as Tad Kubler, hold steady guitarist, had previously told me more details on that story and that tour (which to this day is the best I've ever seen). At any rate, both bands are dearly missed. Edit - the song is incredible also
nice documentary on Epix (also in torrance world) called Laurel Canyon which is about laurel canyon in the late 60s and how all the artists lived within a few minutes of each other wasnt sure where else to put this, but figured some ITT would enjoy it
Big Thief has finally clicked with me. I have no idea what took so long, but I can't stop listening now. I guess I finally caught them in the right mood.
