I feel like every time this story is told by BM it gets further and further from the truth.... really insulting to anyone in that room. Oh well. Here’s to football at Scott Stadium in 2020.
"and in that first meeting - I showed the team a football. they all cowered in fear - like vampires being shown the cross. wretched victims of torment they were. without hope. or love. until I saved them. cowabunga"
i think maybe nick grant(?) parroted bronco in an interview and used the "embarrassed to show our faces around campus" line. a few of guys from the 2-10 team didn't like that.
I feel like the piece that he may be missing (or not stating) is that everyone in that room was recruited by a coach who was just booted and thought he was probably full of shit.
I think the team was really eager. Respected ML but ready for a new voice and vision. And they got one from a proven winner. So when it’s characterized as they didn’t even want to play the game (!) or represent the university... just patently false. Micah Kiser, Quin Blanding, etc was a nucleus of high character and talented players who wanted to be shown how to win, not in “despair” and afraid to compete, GMAFB
What IS true about BM’s narrative is that every aspect of the program from a resource standpoint was well below what he calls “industry standard”. I have no doubt he was sold a foul bill of goods from the admin and he was eager to benefit from the resources of “power 5 football” and when he walked in McCue, they weren’t there.
Sometimes I find this thread through google when I can't find it on the board and the first page posts are so funny.
“I love habits, I love learning,” he said. “I think a Zoom screen can reflect intent. I think it can prove intent. So we ask our players to prove their intent by what the screen looks like. I’m talking about lighting, I’m talking about notebooks, I’m talking about pens, I’m talking about what they’re wearing. “So, we have Zoom rules and we hold them accountable to those Zoom rules,” Mendenhall added. “I’m not currently evaluating practice but what I can evaluate is their intent to learn in not what they’re saying but just by looking at the screen.” https://virginia.rivals.com/news/three-key-takeaways-from-mendenhall-s-press-conference
havent switched, hard hat has been around for offseason work outs since Fuente’s first or second year.
Thanks. What’s the context of this barstool thing? I assume winning anything from barstool means we won some sort of white nationalist / sexist / idiot thing.
one of their personalities Big Cat has been playing an NCAA 2014 dynasty. schools and coaches have been interacting on social media gassing up Coach Duggs.
He made the championship as the coach at Tennessee, but they lost to Virginia Tech (the computer). I just think it's even funnier that Tech is getting involved as they're not really the main character.
briggs up to 310? uhh yes please. “Wow, yeah Jowon Briggs looks great right now,” said Poppinga. “He played last season, but he lost a lot of weight, got below 290, into the 280s. And man, he's like 310 right now, and he just looks, on a video screen he looks massive he just fills that thing up. https://247sports.com/college/virgi...riggs-as-force-to-be-reckoned-with-147849256/
https://itgnext.com/remember-the-na...an-nick-chubb-and-outscored-hershchel-walker/ i get why foston is not ranked higher. those stats are crazy though.
i wanted to address our newest commit. very athletic, and that makes 5 or 6 commits that played qb last year? Furnish was ranked by all the services and is now our 5th highest rated recruit in the composite. pls someone find us some OL. pls
the new recruits highlight tape is hilarious. it looks like peewee football videos, and the fields they are playing on are like county rec fields.
Top baseball signee Bitsko is skipping college after going in the first round of the MLB draft, not a huge surprise.
I would turn down three millions dollars in order to have the college experience of taking online classes and maybe having my season cancelled. That's just me though
was hoping he'd land with the Os at 30, so now I look forward to watching him win a cy young in the division
also spent some time this morning trying to get in a fight with a covid-not-that-bad chud in the blog's comment section so that's where my mental space is at these days
i live in SC where people think hospitals are actively misreporting cases to get more money from insurance, and Fauci is a deep state operative trying to tear down the economy. i don't really care if these people die.
https://jasonkirk.substack.com/p/you-could-just-stop-scheduling-liberty I really hope we stop scheduling Liberty, but given recent history, the in-state/hour away relationship, and the various ties between our athletic programs, I don't know how feasible it is. I also find it unbelievable that Richie McKay loves it there so much. Unfortunately it really changes my opinion of him.
