Reunions has been nearly on repeat for me. I thought when shires said it was her favorite she was just being nice. Nope.
Weird coincidence, but I was trying to get Running with our eyes closed on YouTube. It wouldn’t play for whatever reason, so I put on SiriusXM and Running with our eyes closed was on. FYI it’s the David Fricke show just started.
Our tickets were for August also. Maybe we’ll soon learn of the reschedule date. Annnnd, then hope we get to vaccinate a few weeks prior to it.
Yeah, was gonna go to the red rocks show on August 2nd. RR has begun rescheduling shows for the same dates in ‘21, so have to figure that’ll be the case as well.
Had tickets for a show in April 2020. Was pushed back to June 2020. Then Oct 2020. Now it's in April 2021. Just crazy. And no way I don't lose the ticket between now and then.
Every reunions song just sticks with me for a few days. I couldn't get River out of my head all weekend. I like the idea of it being a Live Oak sequel. Not exactly the same guy, but just a nod to the same kind of sinister story. It's such a clever little Isbell song. He has a lot of clever lines on this record. The intro to Overseas is almost a Dad joke (this used to be a ghost town, but even the ghosts got out) "Cut him down, burn the tree"--is just such a powerful metaphor for suicide, grief and closure This is definitely the first time I ever felt one of his records to be a part of the same concept. This whole albums seems to be about revisiting his past and thinking of people he has lost. I don't think he is exactly the kid in Dreamsickle, but I think part of it is about his life growing up. And the feeling of being the only kid around a bunch of grown ups that didn't exactly have their shit together. I get goosebumps every time he says "they let me be an astronaut". It's just special to see him acknowledge his success and how far he's come. All of his early writing was about regret and depressION (Danko, GDDL, all the way to Alabama Pines) and now he is able to comfortably look back at parts of his life. This is the first time in his life he's been able to write a song like "It Get's Easier" and saying "I wish they would pull me over now" is pretty damn funny. Also the Overseas-Running with our Eye's Closed combo is one of my favorite Isbell 1-2s ever.
I'm about there as well. The more I listen, the more I like. Only Children is fast becoming my favorite track on the album.
Really love Letting You Go Not sure how much of that is due to hearing him play it in LA prior to album release Corky Bucek
Have Atlanta tickets that I can't get a refund for. Kind of annoying. Bought tickets for a big group and have no idea how many of them can come to the make up date.
Why cant you get a refund? TM gives you a month after a reschedule to request one. I did that with a show moved to October that I dont expect to take place, and I doubt this one does too, so you will eventually get a refund.
Just got an email from Ticketmaster stating that his show next month has been moved to the same date, just one year later. Ticketmaster said my tickets would still be valid come 7/28/2021. Yes, please, hold on to my $200 tickets for 14 months.
They give you one month to request refund after a reschedule. I did it just last week for an October show for $188.
I’m of the belief that Goddamn Lonely Love is the best song written in the last 40 years and I don’t think I can be proven wrong

No Kidding. Was hoping to see Phoebe Bridgers on there, she covered "Summer's End" on a livestream shortly after Prine's death and it was lovely. she starts talking about Prine about 1:45 in.
Dawes crew.....assemble! So excited they decided to release this....first show for me. It was like a Wed night and none of my buddies wanted to go, so I popped an edible and went solo *chefs kiss* Was so bummed when they initially announced it was vinyl only and sold it in Europe exclusively.
Was a guy saying he couldn’t find “Buck Finn” in a library because history is being erased, and Jason responded by commiserating that he too was frustrated when “Dom Sawyer” didn’t come up in library searches either.
