Fully expecting something like Rogue Squadron for the N64. Which was fine for what it was. But yes give me a PC simulator like those games from the past.
If you have kids, the new Jedi Temple Challenge is fantastic. It's a lot like Legends of the Hidden Temple from back in our youth. Ahmed Best does a good job of engaging the kids. For some reason it's not on D+ though, it's on the Disney Kids YouTube channel.
So I read a thing last night that supposedly the first drafts of TRoS had Ben surviving at the end and him and Rey leaving sith world together, in love, and eventually getting married. Some of the scenes in this draft were still kept, most notable the last scene where Rey randomly says her name is skywalker.
I mean that’s what I thought too but it would add context to why she says skywalker at the end or why she even went to tatooine in the first place
*In game footage Seems more like cinematics? Although the part where the xwing pilot distributed more power to the engine has me hopeful it is more of a simulation
The single-player campaign is being written by the same team who did the Battlefront II campaign. Having not played that at all yet, any good?
Maybe someday the remaining half of this thread will finally take off the homer glasses and admit the entire new trilogy was horseshit.
It’s mostly horseshit with some redeeming characters and ideas but TROS effectively solidified it all as a meaningless profiteering expedition
Maybe someday a fandom of neck beards will just let people enjoy what they enjoy instead of complain about shit so much that Disney acquiesces to their demands and produces derivative garbage?
I really hope Disney pulls Star Wars and just starts hand picking devs to work on Star Wars. There are so many better options than EA.
EHHHHH. The Good- Luke Force Projection was epic. Throne room fight scene was incredible Rey and Kylo force visions of each other. The Yoda scene The visual effects on Crait The silent explosion The Bad- The entire Canto Bight side plot was extremely MEH. A slow speed chase in space. Luke finding the force at the very end of the movie only to die moments later. Snoke being cast aside as a minor character Hux being turned into a stooge Rose's character development (it's an absolute shame the actress got shit on by neckbeards when it's 100% Rian's fault) Leia's space flight. (good idea to show her mastery of the force, but absolutely terrible execution as it came off extremely cheesy) Further failure to make anything out of Captain Phasma TLJ was a solid Star Wars entry. However, it struggled because it felt like there was no real link to the movie before it and had some extremely glaring issues despite having some absolutely fantastic scenes. Calling it an objectively great movie feels forced because it went out of it's way to be different and push the envelope of what star was is.
I liked some of the things TLJ tried to do but it ultimately was just an okay movie. It had terrible pacing. Wasted a lot of the characters (not talking about Luke). And while the throne room fight was cool visually, the choreography was laughably bad. Don't even get me started on TROS. Zero redeeming qualities.
TFA made me happy because of puppets and practical effects instead of just straight CGI for everything.
TFA was a paint by numbers straight up copy of ANH that took zero risks outside of w/e outcry that its lead character was a female Mary Sue. TLJ and TRoS are both garbage and somehow in complete opposite ways a Star Wars movie can be garbage, its impressive really.
Disney: makes TFA Neck beards: hated it, that was just ANH but with a girl protagonist. We want something different with these new Star Wars movies. we want to see the lore expanded and to take the story in new directions. Disney: makes TLJ Neck beards: hated it, it’s a crime against Star Wars. You can’t just take liberties to expand on the lore and try and take Star Wars somewhere different. TFA was better because it at least resembled a Star Wars movie Disney: makes TRoS Neck beards: Hated it, it’s the worst of the 3. Just a sloppy rehash of previous story ideas and whole bunch of fan service moments. TLJ was the best because it expanded on the lore instead of just copying earlier plot points
I’ve heard for years now that TLJ was a different kind of Star Wars movie and that’s why neckbeards hated it, but I don’t think I’ve heard anyone really explain why it is “different.”
Vocally critical of the Jedi (without having to take the side of a child-slaughtering Anakin). SUBVERTING EXPECTATIONS by not having Luke be a super warrior badass who takes the whole First Order down singlehandedly. Porgs.
I watched the Clone Wars before TLJ, and wasn’t Qui Gon critical of the council? I also watched A New Hope, where Obi Wan sacrificed himself to let his compatriots escape.
It was vocally critical of a lot of things, the Jedi, war itself (the scene in Canto Bight showing that the same people were supplying ships to both sides and profiting while the galaxy suffers), making Luke an extremely flawed person, etc. It took a lot of risks. A lot of them were good risks, but the execution fell very flat too often for it to be a great movie.
I dont think it's different. It has a similar tone and editing style to the others. It feels like a star wars movie in every respect, from ep 1-7 before it. It gets points beyond the execution of its themes for its willingness to add to the mythos instead of treating it like everything that could be seen in a star war has been seen and done already.
If anyone wants one of these let me know and I’ll do my best to pick one up before they go on sale to the public:
The N64 game was mostly set on planets. The Gamecube game (RS2) was mostly set in space or upper atmospheres, if memory serves.
