Regardless, I love that place and want it to be open forever so I can hit up when I visit along with 2-3 other spots
I remember when you used to rail against smokers and how disgusting smoking was. Putting other patrons health before your own habit isn’t “pandering to new Nashville”. Was banning smoking on planes pandering? I’m genuinely trying to understand your take for something other than putting your own desires before everyone else
Interesting argument that everyone should be able to experience everything and every private business owner should be able to make their own policies. *insert guy sweating trying to pick one of two buttons* I mean, I wish I could smoke at Red Door inside still....but I am happy to change my ways if they make that decision. It's quite the mental gymnastics that someone should get to experience everything and not have to be subject to smoking...but like, should Vui's kitchen HAVE to serve pizza because I want pizza at Vui's kitchen? Seems ridiculous. Either way, it's insignificant enough in my life that I will change if my favorite institutions change.
I like you, but that is a really dumb attempt at comparing the situations This is a public health thing, not a what's on the menu thing.
false equivalency but I’m not gonna shit up the thread on this topic any further because I’d rather not. Heading to the Dive. My girlfriend just got there with the some buddies in town and got the last table available at the pool so apparently it packs out fast. (They’ve been open for like 30 min). I’m heading to meet them — anyone been to the pool there yet?
Was Mother's Ruin packed or are they staying within whatever guidelines the city has going right now?
I avoid bars that allow smoking inside, but I am not going to push for those places to cave to non-smokers. COVID news =Vandy's Covid ICU unit is half-full, but the mayor claims we only have 22% available as a city.
Maybe other hospitals ICU are full. We aren't even gonna see a second wave because the first wave is not stopping.
Early tee times are booking up faster than I remember. And $50 to play smyrna seems like way too much.
I was against Ohio banning smoking in restaurants/bars and figured allow people to do what they want. It passed anyway and now I have to say years later that it’s incredible and going anywhere out of state that allows smoking in restaurants/bars is always a terrible experience
Mother's Ruin was 100% playing by the rules. Over the top to some extent (made me cover my mouth with a napkin walking from the door to table because I forgot my mask). I was at dogwood tonight...and they 100% did not give a fuck. It was back to the old "normal". We are fucked.
Wait is there construction going on at Lake Palmer?? Planning on picking up dinner from HoneyFire BBQ tonight. Been so excited for this
I figured it out. They count all ICU beds, surgical and ED/COVID. Vandy surgical unit has been maxed out this past week due to elective surgeries coming back online and your usual emergency surgeries. IMO, counting all ICU beds is a bad metric. Should only be the COVID ICU beds.
I have asthma. I kind have grown out of it but still have some problems every few years. Stupid I know
That was some delicious BBQ. The new ice center looks amazing too Spent a couple hours driving around downtown and midtown looking at new shit with my dad today. Walked around Peabody and the VU campus. Those new dorms are so beautiful
MBA (finally) took down the Sam Davis statue. He was an alum and considered the boy hero of the confederacy. Donations are no longer problematic
My uncle in Maine just emailed me this article. No idea if he expected me to take it seriously or just get a laugh. Whoever wrote this is a clown. https://tennesseestar.com/2020/06/15/commentary-it-is-time-to-break-up-nashville/
fixing to place a pick-up order at Sportsman's even with a limited menu, it's still so solid saw the parking lot at the O'Charley's at White Bridge & Post Rd was packed this afternoon https://www.sportsmansgrille.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/SG-TEMP-LTD-MENU-3-20.pdf
Picking up from Lucky Bamboo tonight. Always used to order from China Dragon but this is apparently better Anyone have a DIY carwash spot? The place near Nashville West at Brook Hollow and Charlotte closed down
This seems good A new report from Vanderbilt University warns that the number of COVID-19 patients in Tennessee's hospitals has hit its highest level ever, and that spikes in Memphis and Chattanooga are making a big contribution to that dangerous increase. https://www.commercialappeal.com/st...each-highest-level-yet-study-says/3199499001/
I went to McKay's because it's up there with Monell's and Hawkins Field among my favorite places in Nashville I'd say about 10% of people had a mask on. Maybe that's because it's so close to I-40 and the Dickson/Cheatham County types. But jesus do better Nashville it should be a city requirement that you have a mask on in a place of business. If it is already, it sure isn't being enforced
The farther out towards like Murfressboro I go, the less people I see with masks. And our dog got sprayed by a skunk in the backyard tonight so thats been fun.
Girl, I've been on a couple of hinge dates with got tested for COVID today...so we will see how that goes. She's not sick and doesn't have symptoms, but "felt bad" after being at Losers for an hour on Friday night where literally zero people were following rules.
She's a music person so that's her "reason"....but yeah, I had similar thoughts. A herpes test might be a more appropriate test after a lap in that bar
Wild couple of days with Phase 3 announcement, 34% property tax increase, and now the MNPD Chief Anderson retiring.
Glad Chief Anderson is retiring. He hasn't been horrible. It's obviously symbolic. New times call for new leaders.
As long as we don't hire a spineless liberal. The below quotes are from two journalists, seems like Anderson didn't listen to the outside noise and made decisions that were best for his police force and the city. Anderson was the department’s enforcer and his hard-nosed approach put him on the other side of the police officers union, the Fraternal Order of Police. Chief Steve Anderson’s history, he took a strong stand against corruption, he angered officers for being a tough disciplinarian, he ticked off conservatives for allowing African-American protesters to shut down streets/interstates.
Seems like bad timing for phase 3. Hasn't TN seen its highest number of hospitizations in the last week? Think it was a 30% increase last week over the previous week.
Also one of the reports said Davidson county only has 25% of hospital beds and 23% of ICU beds available.
Vandy COVID ICU is still only at 50%. If they stopped elective surgeries, overall ICU bed availability would increase.
Nashville's Asian food scene is pretty weak overall but that small section of Charlotte by Kroger really brings some excellent stuff to the table Kien Giang Lucky Bamboo Miss Saigon VN Pho and Deli those places are all pretty amazing is there a Filipino place here?
