The kit is more of the tools needed. Taking the glass off and everything probably makes this much more complicated than it would be for a MacBook. OWC 2.0TB SSHD Upgrade Kit for 2009-2010 iMacs, Includes Thermal Sensor, Tools, 2.0TB SSHD
so in a strange twist of fate to my week, I am now team airpod pro. gonna make my wife slum it with the airpods now
A question for those of you with an Apple Watch: Is it at all useful or practical when at the gym/strength training? It seems like many of the the tracking & monitoring capabilities it has are great for cardio but I'm curious if that translates at all when lifting weights or if it'd largely be a waste?
Mine is primarily there so I can track my HR. Almost every calorie tracker and fitness app is shit and I rarely trust the numbers they put out. That being said; I do appreciate the HR function as well as some of the step or stride counters.
I stopped thinking of my Apple Watch as a fitness tracker. It's nice it keep track of my steps and the reminder to stand, when I spend a lot of the day sitting for work, is helpful. Beyond distance(running, walking, biking), its primary function is getting texts and controlling my music.
I use mine for fitness tracking all the time (primarily cardio) even though I'm sure it's not the most accurate thing in the world.
Two weeks with my macbook air and I love it. I do have a few low end questions. I've noticed that my google chrome browser will crash from time to time. Especially when I run some videos from youtube. Have any of you had this problem? Also, what is the recommended battery saving settings? (if they exist).
They all do this. My fitbit was really bad. I would walk for .25 miles with it not picking up a single step sometimes.
let me save your lives, non-standard ear canal size bros... I was literally coming to rave about these anyway. Best $10 I’ve ever spent. It’s a bit annoying that you can’t charge with them on, but they take like 10 seconds to put and take off, come with their own little silicone case, and changed the game for my Pros. mine constantly slipped, even just like chewing food. I didn’t feel like I could walk with them in for too long with my hands occupied because I constantly had to reseat them...then I put these bad boys on, and I don’t have to touch them for literal hours. No noise cancellation loss, no worry of them falling out. Worth the couple of seconds of putting them on and off to charge/ store. I’ve also looked at ordering different tips just because a lot of people say the foam ones are just more comfortable if you’re going to have them in for a couple of hours at a time(plane ride, whatever)
Anyone use the Spark email app on their phone? Every time I go to send a link to an article via the share sheet it never makes the URL a clickable link. Anyone else have that problem or know how to fix it?
I used to use Apple Mail but it often refuses to fetch my emails in the background despite having it set to push or fetch for every email account I have. Got frustrated not receiving the emails unless I opened the app so got rid of it.
Yes I use spark. Kinda sounds like it’s formatting the email as text instead of html, maybe there’s something in settings.
I couldn’t find anything. I sent a test email to myself to check on my computer but I use Spark on there so it looks fine. My dad says links I send are never clickable through his email via the website though
New Apple Watch owner here. Do people generally leave it on the charger overnight? If so, has this had any impact on your overall battery capacity? Not sure if it’s just a myth I still follow but I heard a long time ago not to leave your phone on the charger too long so I usually let mine die completely and try to charge fully after; not really as easy to do so with the watch
I wear mine at night to track sleep. I usually charge it an hour or two before bed. I don't think it hurts it to leave in on the charger all night though.
I normally charge mine over night. Have had it since Christmas Day 2019. Battery life is really good if you keep always on display off. It’s barely enough to get me through the day with it on.
I wear mine until battery is almost dead. I’ve had it since Oct 2018 and battery has greatly reduced. I’ve always heard keeping anything plugged in after it’s charged isn’t best case. But I’m stating I didn’t do that and battery life is still reduced.
Li-ion batteries (and all batteries really) have a limited number of charge cycles until they degrade. And yes keeping the battery charged at 100% capacity puts stress on it which can degrade the battery. iPhones have a feature where they charge your phone to like 90% while you’re sleeping and then try to top it off to 100% around when you wake up.
How easy is it going to be to get an additional monitor on 2013 MacBook Air? Also is using Citrix eventually going to kill it?
Maybe a dumb question but Google couldn't solve it for me. I finally caved and bought the 50gb icloud storage after ignoring the notifications for years. But now I'm trying to to get it to backup photos to cloud on an older ipod touch and it doesn't appear to be automatically syncing. how do I trigger said sync?
I checked today and more are uploaded...I guess it's just taking its sweet time. I'm sure it has nothing to do with some things being on a 7 year old iPod touch
so I noticed recently in the photos app on my macbook that there are some blocks of pictures that come up as a blank thumbnail/picture. it looks like all the metadata of the image is there, just no picture. from what little research of done most just recommend using the repair function, but that is not fixing it on my end. some other things seemed to say they were gone, but if that was the case wouldnt the metadata be gone as well? Is there a fix of this I am missing?
I dont use icloud, so dont think that would be a way to recover. have plenty of space on my hd and reading some more I think it may be related to the cleanmymac program but I wasnt really able to find a clear way to get them back. it seems like most of the pictures were ones I uploaded from old cds, so something to do with the image format.
My work has implemented a pilot program with one of our client’s for documenting field visits using an iPod Touch. I was kinda surprised that they’re still sold.
Anyone got one of the new Mac Minis? I was thinking I'd just get that for my net computer instead of a MacBook. I like never travel with my MacBook anymore and 99.9% of the time I'm using it is when it's on my desk, so I figured a Mac Mini would be a better buy for me sine I'll have an external monitor coming in, can get much more power and storage and with regular USB-A ports and an HDMI port so I won't have to dongle up to use anything.
Sounds like the GPU is the big weakness, but really only comes into play if doing tasks that are hard on the GPU like 4K video editing. Should be fine for me. I can always add on an eGPU should I need to in the future.
If I bought a Mac right now, I’d probably get the Mini since my 6 or 7 year old Toshiba laptop never leaves my house as it is now, but I don’t use it cart much as it is. I’m usually on my phone or iPad, or work laptop.
