my wife would kill me on so many levels. As it is I don't have room and just made space for 12 bottles today.
If we can get 8 people at 5k each, we might have a shot to win. I’ll ask a friend of two. Plus think of all the credit card points!
If someone can explain to me like I’m 5 how best to unload most of the bottles on secondary I’ll throw in on this TMB coalition bid
Stopped by local store to ask about a MWND I saw online for Leeroy Jenkins! and saw a guy holding a Weller Full Proof store pick talking to the owner. It wasn't on the floor, but they pulled one from the back when I asked if they had anymore and wasn't awful at 129.99
nice! look at that... good things happen when you do nice things for others. $130 is good considering they are up to 300+ now Leeroy Jenkins! I didn't know you were looking for MWND... why didn't you just ask me?
He's looking for an Act 6, I got one from this store a few weeks ago. They are gonna send me an email with what they got in the back.
Fathers Day is the best time other than the fall for finding rare stuff. Saw an Instagram post by one of the stores I follow about a Fathers Day basket deal. Checked it out and walked out with a GTS for $100. Had to spend $200 to be able to buy it but I just stocked up on a bunch of stuff I drink regularly so it was a win-win.
pperc OK, just cracked the Nobiliary... Nose: Banana's all day, raisins, apple, vanilla, some ethanol...very sweet overall Pallet: It's not 2005 or 2007 at first. Lot's of intense fruit flavors, but smooth...primarily apple, mango, apricot, coconut, caramel, and finishes with a spicy hot kick that has different zests and a small bit of pepper and some ethanol. Finish: Towards the middle and finish it starts to remind you more of 2005 and 2007 with more oak and the bourbon cask flavor coming through. It's a long finish and it is really good. It alternates between a lot of flavors but I get vanilla, coconut, zest, and some ethanol heat. Very warm, but not bothersome. The heat really lingers. You feel like you drank something substantial. Overall: 9/10 It's fucking delicious. It packs a flavor punch. I would equate it to drinking a Stagg Jr. or a ECBP if it was a bourbon. It also reminds me of a more intense Little Book #2. I like that it is not like 2005 and 2007, because it's its own thing. I would say 2007 is the closest to drinking bourbon and this strays from that but in a really good way. So much fucking flavor. If you are not big on fruit flavors you may shy away from this one, but I really like the apple and upfront tart fruit, even in bourbon.
If you are down that way and can grab me the GTS (along with whatever else necessary), I can run up and get you a 2007 today (assuming they still have it), then give you that and cash. Spoiler I would text you but lost my phone to a river this past weekend and hadn't backed up the phone since April 2019 so I lost everything.
For those shopping at Whitlocks, go to Gem City and talk with the new owner, Brian. He’s redone that store and has had some great store picks already. (Plus he’s a buddy of mine.)
As much as I enjoy RR10, I have struggled with paying twice the price for a store pick. Am I doing this wrong?
Have you ever blind tasted a pick against the regular? I’ve done that and discovered I enjoy the picks more. Plus, I think it’s cool to compare the notes of the different single barrels.
I haven’t bought a store pick yet. My Total Wine has theirs for $69 (nice.) Instead of buying one I just bought two RR10 and called it a day.
Rebel Yell 10 yr single barrel for $70? I’m going to buy it but should I be excited for it is really my question?
Went to pickup my Rebel 10 and a handle of tequila today. Left with an additional Weller SR, Blanton, and old Ezra in tow.
Stopped by a little hole in the wall liquor store this afternoon. Asked the guy if he had any Blanton’s and he pulled out 2 bottles from the back. Regular one was 109 and I passed. The other he tried to tell me was not even from the US and was straight from the barrel. He wanted 399. Left with 2 bottles of Eagle Rare
