Sports fans who want to play sports? It’s not the fans that’ll be playing, basically these people are sports fans who want to sacrifice player’s health so that sports can be played because these young men are here to entertain and nothing else.
So I guess this will cain guy is the new clay travis? I’m just hearing his whole thing for the first time.
Yep, he was a conservative talking head on CNN before his move to ESPN. it has been reported, or i thought so, that he is being hired by Fox News to be their stick to sports guy.
Anyone who says that TMB was not a racist website until approximately 5 years ago is completely and utterly deluding themselves. This place was a racist cesspool, if you're being honest with yourselves.
Will got absolutely shit on by a caller last week over the Gundy OAN incident. Tried to play off the fact that he was unaware that OAN has racist shit on their network all the time trying to defend Gundy and the caller said “ if that’s the case, do you ever do any actual research on the topics you discuss on your show? I mean you have to live under a rock to not know the stuff said on OAN about the king flu virus and black lives matter..” There was a solid 5 seconds of silence and his only response was “ well I refuse to take you for your word that there’s been racist takes on OAN” dudes a clown show
There's a reason Ryen Russillo said 'fuck that' and quit his cushy job when ESPN said "Hey, we want Will Cain to be your new co-host now that Danny Kanell is gone!"
In my years of listening to his content, I've never heard him give any praise to Trump and it has typically been the opposite. That said, I haven't listened much in about 2 years so I definitely could've missed something. Thus why I'd like to see or hear something to substantiate these claims.
He pretty much said he was on Bill Simmons podcast when they were discussing the protesting. It was a very tasteful and appropriate digression.
Interesting. I saw there was some fallout from them podcasting together recently but didn't listen to it. I'll have give it a listen later. Going to be incredibly disappointed in and done with him if that's true.
He treated the fact that he never voted for Obama like he was revealing the identity of the Zodiac killer. He thought it was this shocking reveal
There's fallout because Simmons' dumbass had a white guy on to talk Black Lives Matter and no, you don't have to give it a listen
He went on a now infamous rant a few weeks ago at the height of the BLM protests on the BS Podcast. He really went after the rioters and made the statement: "everyone votes with their wallet" basically excusing himself for voting for Trump. And he said he never voted for Obama. He also praised Bill for his diversity hires because he has a few black writers, but his entire media empire is managed by white people. Him and Bill both apologized for their tone and lack of sensitivity but the damage was done. They both came off like privileged, rich assholes who had no idea what they were talking about. I have always enjoyed Ryen's sports takes, but he comes off like a clueless asshole when he dips his toe into politics. After the latest controversy, I don't expect him to go back down that road anytime soon. He is a big "my life experience=everybody's life experience guy" and I'm sure he has referred to himself as libertarian at some point in the past decade. I don't think he has taken the time to learn about his own privilege and how it affects his audience. That is disappointing for a guy that prides himself on his research.
Well said. This is all very disappointing to me for the same reasons you mentioned. On his radio show, he used to come off as a reasonable guy who tried to understand the plight others face IMO but it sounds like he's become a full on asshole in recent years. Still going to have to listen to this podcast but knowing all of this it is already making me sad. I've got very, very little sympathy for rich people who care about their taxes over anything else. As you can imagine, my hometown is full of that type of self serving asshole.
I remember listening to that pod and as soon as he said something about “breaking into sneaker stores” I texted some people that Ryen was about to have a real bad day.
Damnit. I really like Ryen and have listened to him for many years now. I honestly don't remember him ever talking about politics.
He always danced around it while maintaining his shtick of being the smartest and most reasonable guy in the room. And I used to listen to his espn show and podcast regularly
He likely always was an asshole, he just had to keep his shit to himself. That's because he was working with the guardrails ESPN had in place. Going to the Ringer and being Bill Simmons' everything removed any filter he was forced to have.
Well, he’s still doing a great job of proving that he’s a terrible gambler given his predictions and estimates regarding COVID-19.
Ryen went out of his way to call people out who had been critical of Trump's coronavirus response. And Bill agreed! Because both are clear-eyed moderates and wanted show they are above team politics. This is a three week old take that is aging rather poorly in my estimation.
Didn’t russillo grow up wealthy on the vineyard? I’m sure his formative years were filled with diversity.
Doesn't his dad own a construction firm? I always got the vibe that his Massachusetts rags to riches story was a bit much. He's a fuck up that finally hit his stride late in life. But it's also clear that he grew up with zero diversity around him.
Ryen’s dad was a bricklayer and he had a low credit score in his late twenties when living on the Cape y’all are being too hard on him.
Russillo is very much in that South Park "Everybody is stupid for caring, people are all just virtue signaling" mentality, one that is especially convenient to have when you are white and making good money and have lots of job security. He projects his insecurity and cynicism on everything, both politically and professionally.
okay, my bad then. I judged him wrong on his background. But I will say that Ryen has had a fair number of "wait what" moments over my time listening to him. This last one on the BS POD was very eye opening. But then again, he had no business being on there during the George Floyd situation.
His Colin Kapernick era takes were very much "LET ME TALK SPORTS. WHY ARENT YOU LETTING ME TALK SPORTS".
All I could find of him talking about your and my president. The will Cain link is pretty bad imo. https://www.thebiglead.com/posts/ry...b-of-sports-talk-host-is-anymore-01dxk2qhy05r
he's done it over the years in a very passing way. He also completely backed John Elway's reasoning for not signing Colin (He also went with the "I've heard CK is a lockerroom problem" angle).
