This is a weird tangent, but I take offense to what’s sold at grocery stores under the name “tomato.” I grew up in New Jersey, the Garden State: landfill capital of the world, armpit of New Yawk, home of the Italian horn laden turtle neck, and growers of damned fined tomatoes (secret of da sauce fuhgedabahdit.)
Also, Sonny had five fingas but he only eva used tree. (I haven’t had a day off in two weeks.) (It’s Father’s Day.) (These whiskey bottles in my cabinet have been talking shit all day.)
Naa I somehow messed up the quote and inserted my text into the quote Ment to be saying that I want that end piece
Throwing some ribeyes and filets and twice baked potatoes on shortly. Squash and asparagus grilling at the moment
The stuff that comes off of it is as good or better than any other style cooler imo, and it’s easy as hell. Only thing I want to add is an egg style something. But I might settle for a Weber kettle just so I have something coal. The new Bradley pro series is beautiful too, I kind of want this one to die so I can justify getting it,
Yea. I've always heard they smoke very well Kinda makes me wonder why the popularity of the pellet smokers took off so much more than a Bradley style, when the lack of smoke flavor is the biggest knock against the pellets
Tried something different today and made some burnt ends off a chuck roast. It turned out really nicely.
I am with you, live like 30 minutes from the border and transplant city here. Literally any place you go during the summer you have to talk about tomato plants and their status for at least 15-20 minutes per gathering. Not much better than eating one that’s ready off the wine with some salt though. Lunch a few days a week for me. Still have a few more weeks though.
Not sure. It was the one where you put everything in a foil pan and let it all melt together. Pretty sure it was velveeta based.
will call the first brisket a success. Was done around 1, so had to cooler until 5:30 or so, but was moist and delicious. Can’t wait to try another
ok then probably start with verde peel and rinse 8-10 or so tomatillos 3-5 poblanos 4 jalapeños 4 garlic cloves 1 halved white onion toss them on the smoker direct heat get them nice and charred steam the poblanos for 10 minutes then scrape off the skin remove stems from all the peppers (leave the seeds if you want a little more heat) toss it all in your food processor or blender or whatever you use and pulse it to your desired thickness add salt, pepper, cumin, garlic powder and lime juice enjoy over everything
Long time traeger supporter. Still am. I just ordered my kamado joe big joe 2... a little bit of buyers remorse but am excited. It’s supposedly being delivered this weekend. I can’t wait to fuck around with this new bbq toy. I still have the traeger for big cooks but the KJ is gonna look sick on the pool deck and provide some much desired outdoor cooking versatility.
Just got a Weber genesis 3 burner with the side burner from Costco for Father’s Day. The bge was taking too long in the evenings after work with an infant.
Took about 2 hours to put together. Extremely impressed with the BILT app, step by step cad drawings showing every piece of every step. Impressed the tech it came with.
I'm sure this has probably been mentioned in the 446 other pages, but thinking about getting a pellet smoker (have looked at Traeger and Rec Tec) and wondered if anyone had any opinions.
here comes the next 10 pages never cooked on a rec tec but I have used the traeger quite a bit. my wife’s family has one and does a great job on lower temp cooks. Can never get a sear or crust at the highest temp setting.
I think I’d get that Masterbuilt gravity smoker before I did a pellet but I have no idea what they cost I just watch videos. Anyhow here it is if you’re interested.
rec tec owner, it’s great. Warranty is great, have had mine for about two years, zero issues and it’s just a great product. Highly recommend.
This is very intriguing. Amazing ribs review update worries me a little bit, but something I will keep my eye on. Will probably upgrade to something like this or a pellet next summer or the following.
I think the thing is a pretty awesome concept as an alternative to pellets. Pretty much just need to load the hopper and you are done. Only concern would be durability and I guess a few other items that with time I think they could probably get right. What was the review?
"In the short time since publishing this review, we have encountered significant and disturbing quality issues with this product. The firebox at the bottom of the charcoal chute has warped badly, and buckled, and appears to have rusted through the inner layer, although as of now, the outer layers remains intact. Additionally, the fan that regulates air to the fire stopped working. We determined the cause was a faulty sensor switch. Therefore, we are taking a step back to reevaluate the 560 and dropping our high rating to "Not Judged Yet". We will complete our reevaluation quickly as possible."
See above. I agree it's a pretty ideal concept. Hopefully someone can execute on it if masterbuilt cannot.
My neighbor, his son and daughter's BF all just bought those. LOL. Edit, my favorite part so far is that he used about half a container of lighter fluid to get the fire good and started on Saturday.
Did smashed burgers on the grill tonight. Wasn’t wearing my gloves and had a HUGE flare up. I no longer have hair on my thumb and I’m glad that was essentially the worst of it.
Seems like you've got your shitty Chinese stuff Rec Tec seems like the most well liked and well priced option. Yoder's are real nice and real expensive
while I don’t quite like that they’re getting into the pellet game, I think the kamado joe is gonna be a real hit had a guy raving about his campchef woodwind while I was picking up beers this weekend
