Anyone here gone down the vintage Tudor Submariner rabbit hole? I’m not sure I know of a watch that shows better patina, just beautiful pieces.

What kind of referral benefits are you talking about? I have 2 buddies who are going to buy an AP from my dealer, and i haven't been referred shit.

Just banking good equity, for when I want something. I send everyone to the same salesperson. When they come in, I go as well & make the intros... that way I stay in front of them more frequently & my name/face becomes familiar. Becomes much easier to call in a favor, if there’s a hard to find piece & they are more willing to discount.

Really starting to come around on GS, as a formal dress watch. Tried on both of these today. I REALLY love the Hi-Beat movement & that blue snowflake face :lovelove: Pics do not do it justice... light does crazy things with it IRL

This might ruffle some feathers but it is my honestly held belief that Zenith completely shits on everyone at/slightly above their price point, including Rolex and Omega

With regard to style/design they are certainly more contemporary... I like Zenith & would proudly add one to my collection, but they'd be well down my list of brands. Nothing in their catalog would be a daily wear, for me. Just not my style

Just sold my previous beater watch: Casio Duro.

Picked it up before we went to Greece last year for an inexpensive travel option. Bought it for $50, sold it for $57. So, I guess you could say I’m a horological investor.

Understood on the design as that's subjective but let me axe you a question. If you liked the design (as I do) on this titanium Defy with an El Primero movement and power reserve indicator, and fixed ceramic bezel, would you agree that's outstanding value considering what you're getting? I don't think you can even buy a new Datejust 41 for $8k.

Some of the Zenith catalog is too far out there for me, including all their skeletonized stuff and their Pilot models with that freakish huge crown, but in general their entire Chronomaster and a lot of their Defy line are right up my alley. So fucking sexy.

I think a timepiece is greater than the sum of its parts (2 movements & 293 parts in this case)... There is a lot going on here. There is a market for it, but it just doesn't speak to me.

Did I just order the new Oris Horstein with bronze bracelet? Think so but I have zero expectation of ever receiving it. Says I'm limited edition #18. Didn't think I could do it via the oris site.

Likely going to flip or cancel if true. Got wife permission to buy a watch - Tudor Bronze or Speedy Pro - if I sell my gheenoe boat. I'm all on board with that as I've learned I wind up poling my friends around if they come and it's tough managing the boat and fly road together solo.

There’s no debating it, best dials in the game.

Just keep this in mind in case my secret Santa pops into the thread in November.

    Yeah, this watch fucks.

    Only complaints:
Remove Grand Seiko & roll with just the "GS"
Remove "automatic" & "hi-beat 36000"... clutter the caseback with that shit, if at all

All I'm saying is ***if you like the designs offered by Zenith*** I feel it offers better value $ for $ than most, what I would call, entry-mid level luxury watch brands.

Not just the movements, which is a large piece of the puzzle, the finishing on the pieces is incredible. They offer pieces in similar quality to that of Rolex, for example. The rubber strap and deployant clasp on my El Primero is honestly literal perfection. Small things like that are very nice.

Cancelled the order with Oris Switzerland. Will likely go Tudor bronze or Speedy Pro. Couldn't shake the idea that it almost look like it's from Michael Kors.

100% They are hard to find, but you shouldn't have to pay a premium. I "paid full retail" for mine, but got them to take an additional 15% off the ring I got for my wife.

Okay, so play Devil’s Advocate here.

What’s a steel bracelet BB58 worth a year from now?

    Five years from now?

It’s not a limited production. It’s a great watch but far from a safe queen collectible. (I think I’ve emotionally validated the purchase, think that it’s most likely to be a stopgap before getting a Tudor 7021.)

Not “flipping.” I’m not trying to profit here, just minimize my losses while scratching an itch now (instead of waiting until I finish my degree next summer.)

I would not buy a Tudor now in order to flip it for another Tudor one year from now. What’s even the difference in price?

Probably makes more sense to just wait until next year to get the 7021.

I do agree with you. While I don't like most of Zenith's offerings, the brand does fit the niche that I gravitate towards... They are similar to my beloved Nomos, in that they offer similar to better quality than the usual suspects living in the sub $8-10k market.

    A BB58 is $4,000 now.

A Snowflake is ~$7,000-10,000 now depending on box/papers/bracelet/patina.

You see though, buying a BB58 now means I can wear a BB58 on my wrist until I find that 7021.

I understood the latter point. Between sales tax, the hassle of reselling, etc. I’m just not the type who would buy a watch for a year to resell it. Everything I buy I plan to keep forever I suppose.

Odds seem higher that you’d buy both or just never get the 7201 if you buy the first one.

Certainly possible, but that would just mean that I fell in love with the BB58, in which case I'll call it a win and keep the extra $5k in the market :rockin:

It’s a German fligeir company started in 1925. I like it’s simplistic look. 1300 all in will get you the one I want. Very few people will have the exact same watch as you.

They are essentially Rolex bracelets. Their OEM Natos are expensive too. HODINKEE did a video on their contract manufacturer in France.

    That makes sense.

I think I ultimately have to make time to visit an AD to try these on. My wrists are on the smaller side, so I’m not sure how the heritage BB and BB58 are going to look. I’m guessing I’ll be okay given my Tag is a 41 and my SKX is a “42.”
