Anyone expecting those numbers to be zero were naive. Doesn't mean anything to me about odds of a season, they start quarantining those with positive tests and the numbers go down each round. Go look at European soccer leagues, they had positive tests from multiple clubs their first couple rounds of tests. Didnt stop them from coming back.
Europe is nothing like the US. We are rapidly getting worse every day. Europe did what it took to slow it and is getting better each day as much as they want to say it will be a bubble, it won’t be perfect. I’m 50/50 we get to the SCF this year at this point
The Athletic has a new story out where unnamed players are saying they are more convinced than ever that returning to play in a bubble is a bad idea. It seems like it’s at least an even split on if players even want to play again this season.
I still have no idea how this city hasn't been a bigger hot spot through this all. But I get why the NHL likes the idea, can have everyone in just a couple resorts to make it easier to contain everyone.
I don’t think it really matters. Allows them to have games running from like 3est-11pm without breaking a sweat
I’m quite skeptical about the re-start happening because a. the situation seems to be getting worse in the US with no end in sight and b. the having to live away from home in a random city for weeks on end. At least in the European countries that have started soccer back up the covid situation was more under control and due to the smaller geography players can live at home.
Hall of Fame predictions for today? Obviously Hossa and Iginla are slam dunks and if it were up to me I'd put in Mogilny, Turgeon, and Roenick
The HOF seems to let in a lot of very good but not great players like Lowe. Was Lowe ever considered an elite player? He had one top 5 Norris finish in a career that was almost two decades. I’m a fan of what Andreychuk brought to the Lightning but he’s another guy that was very good and not a top player over his career.
unless he’s just staying in complete isolation, the rink is probably safer than walking in his apartment building. I’m sure the staff were extra cautious with him.
Yeah I dont understand the Lowe choice. The only impressive thing he did was be on good teams. His stats are putrid, even for the era. He wasnt elite defensively. Was he ever a top 5 player on his own team?
I can only imagine the amount of waste that will go into the purification process to make rainwater suitable for use as NHL ice.
Panarin seems way different than most of the other Russian stars. Wasn’t he also criticizing Putin at one point?
The NHL has full time ice experts maintaining the ice at each rink. Lmao if you think they grab a hose, spray whatever water is available, and freeze it. Every aspect of making is carefully thought out. Yea. Using rain water is a cool gimmick, but the reality is that they will probably create more harmful waste by requiring rain water than if they did what they normally do.
so is he not reporting? I don’t really understand the end. Of course everyone wants games at msg, that’s just not feasible right now.
https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/nhl-nhlpa-talks-cba-include-escrow-cap-salary-deferral-players/ 81.5 mil cap for the next three years. Red Wings should profit.
ooof. Put's the Panthers in a really tough spot with both Barkov and Huberdeau needing new contracts during that time period.
Could see them potentially moving Yands in the last year of his contract after the 2021 season even if they have to eat something to do it.
absolutely. He gets a 3 million bonus on july 1st of that last year. Should be easy to find a team to take that cap hit on after the bonus is paid.
I’ve already accepted 4th since I love three players a lot. I do think we will get someone very good at fourth though so I’m not totally crestfallen.
