Someone else in here can probably do a better job explaining it than me, but I think you just have to mess around with the menus. There’s tons of free cards out there it just may take some time to unlock them.
There’s some that get you points for that team affinity, and then another for the Inning Programs. Basically you draft a team based on a random pool of guys the game let’s you pick from. You have mini mission things to do along the way and each time you win you get to pick better players to add to your line up. You also get bonus runs for your final match up. You start down 15-0 with 20 outs, but if you do those previous missions and beat them you get runs so if you do really well along the way you could goto the final matchup only down 15-14 with 20 outs. It can be insanely frustrating.
Yeah, I do the one that helps you unlock programs for the inning boss. I just beat the 5th Inning one and it gave me 70 of the 300 points needed already.
Most frustrating pitch to hit? Sinkers for me. Worst part is they can be thrown high and not jacked out of the park every time. They look like they are going high and then you let them go and the come down to a strike. Other pitches that are meant to be down like changeups, sliders, cb's, if you hang one they go a million miles. Sinkers don't though.
Yeah they made sinkers way too effective that’s for sure. I think they realized it too because it seems like all the high level pitchers that get released have one now. Almost like they felt they had to make it even.
That Larry Walker card tough. 3 Abs in 3 different showdown moments, 3 HRs. I was leaning towards Big Papi for the card, but Walker’s swing is smooth right now and 78 spd, with a solid arm
The 5th inning was stupid easy to get to 300 stars. I used the voucher for 75 stars, then got to about 200 last night with conquest and showdown in probably a little over 3 hours. Tonight played a few event games to get 10 wins, hits with all-star cards, unlocked Reynolds and got his RBIs, and in other few hours I had Walker and am now 150K stubs richer. Will buy him back in a week or two for hopefully much less. If you haven't done conquest yet, I found it easier to play the games as soon as I could instead of surrounding territories this time. Once I had enough to play the games on all-star I went ahead and did that to keep the cpu from expanding out too much. It helps that more teams aren't that good in this one.
God damnit. Started showdown finale down 15-6. Scratched back to 15-11 with 6 outs, got to 15-15 with 3 outs. End 15-15. Frustrating
This one was the most runs I’ve ever had going into it for whatever reason. I started down 15-14 but it took me like 10 outs before I got a hit off Mo. His stats are so high even good contacts don’t get much of a result. The combo of Mo being nasty and the classic show down super fielders was not ideal.
Bagwell was one of my favorite non-Braves growing up. I used to love mimicking the stances of guys like him, Galarraga, and Sheffield. I feel like we don't have many super unique stances these days like we did in the 90s/early 2ks.
Yep, posted it a couple days ago but I would much rather have these unique 90s/00s guys with unique stances and wind ups than a 99 of some dude who hasn’t played an MLB game
I’m not gonna lie I love the cards like Adell and Robert, but yeah, the prospects should’ve been toned down. Or start them at a base and have them be a prestige like progression.
I get it though, they just bought the rights to the minors, they had to showcase them. And then they lost months of the season, so they don’t have new live season content to churn out.
Content is content, I don’t like it but I get it, especially for the teams that don’t have 35 other cards like the Braves and Yankees.
Pitching online makes no sense to me with recovery. I don’t take guys deep and I play about one game a day. Still have 7 starters that are not fully green, it’s so stupid. Does anyone know how to get full energy? Also just played Hal, again. I got him up to 145 pitches in a game. He just closed me out in the 9th. Old fucker was still pumping 101 at 140+ pitches. Even dumber.
I could be wrong but I think they recover during every game you play as long as they are on your active squad. Do you take guys off your active roster after the pitch? I leave my rotation the same, go 6-7 innings with a SP most game, and always 2 of my 5 that are full energy. My 5th SP is just a bullpen arm. I never have to go past my 4th SP. I can play 5 games in a day and only use 4 SP. Just leave them on your active roster and they recover in 2-3 games.
And yea pitchers not losing velocity as they go up in pitches is dumb. But damn if he went 145 pitches its going to take 4-5 games for him to recover.
Yea i think thats it. Idk if they changed it but when i first started playing guys were using 2-3 SP every game instead of bullpen guys bc there weren't many good RP. At some point they made a change so SP didn't recover if not on the active roster to stop that.
Yeah I think that is correct, have to have them on your active team. I never take my guys off and they seem to recover every 3rd game or so.
I need to invest in some more SP but I do like using who I have. I used Walter Johnson today for the first time and I’ll never do that again. His delivery is absolutely obnoxious. I’m trying to get through the game not watch dance moves. Edit at 1:50
Yeah the pitchers have to be in the lineup to regenerate energy. Had a no hitter going through 5 innings with Kluber, then it's like the guy decided to actually try. Ended up losing 9-6. He was ranked 725ish and I'm in the 600's. I just bought Greinke to see how he is. Not terribly expensive and if I don't like him I should be able to make my stubs back selling him.
No clue wtf is going on but my game has been freezing like crazy lately. I’ll be on the exchange screen trying to tab over a couple pages and boom frozen.
