trying to explain to someone how to watch golf or one of their favorite players is so convoluted ‘well you need to pay for pga tour live, then you may have to turn on the golf channel, then you might have to download an app, then back to the golf channel, then there is a 30 minute window where there is no golf on tv, so try one of the apps again, then it’s on live tv, but it may get moved back to golf Channel if there is a delay or sudden death”
I think in late March/early April there was a big storm that took down like 100 trees. From what I have heard the course is good now but I am sure it is different with the trees gone.
Yeah the tornadoes that came through Chattanooga hit the golf course pretty hard. I have a buddy who is a former caddy there and he told me it was hundreds of trees and changed the landscape quite significantly. I’ve never played there unfortunately so I can’t speak to the before/after. Was curious if you had and then what you thought after your round. undrtow may actually know regardless.
I haven't played it since the storms but saw a few pictures of trees down everywhere. Have you played it before mal630 ?
Played Arrowhead in Naples near my dad's house and we got paired up with a 77 year old who shot his age from the blue tees (about 6,100 yards). It was ridiculously impressive to watch a 77 year old dude hit drives 240-250 and miss maybe 5 greens in regulation
I've played before but it has been 5 or so years. My buddy I'm playing with has played it 1-2 times a year for the last 5 years. I'll get a good handle on the differences.
Will Gordon's story this week is fucking awesome. I hate what happened with Kopeka's brother and having to withdraw but still, to be an alternate and earn partial status because of a top 3 is awesome.
I can't remember how long it has been since they switched the greens to Bermuda. Not that it needed any help but that made it considerably tougher when firm and fast
Just shot a 37 on the front and had to skip two holes on the back because people are fucking stupid and rude. Returning the cart and the pro-shop guy was like "wow, surprised you made it around with those groups out there. They're on a 6.5 hours pace." THAT'S YOUR PROBLEM TO FIX ASSHOLE. I'm irate.
Played Silver Fox at Trump Doral. 7k from the tips. I hit the ball well, putted very well but still shot a 95. One of the toughest courses I’ve ever played. Water in play on 16 of 18 holes, tight fairways and fast greens. Going to go back and play the monster soon, but everyone we talked to said it was actually the easier of the two. Silver Fox one of the harder tracks I’ve ever played.
It was a little weird. Tips were 7k, golds were 6300. We usually play 6600-6700.. they didn’t have a combo set so we decided to play from the tips. Length wasn’t a huge issue on the course.
Almost asked if that was an option. Love tee combos that take away the 320 yd par 4s but don't have 220 yd par 3s.
Honors Course director of golf Henrik Simonsen pretty much uttered those exact words to describe the destruction done to the state of Tennessee's most famous and spectacular course. "So much damage, devastating," he said of the hundreds of trees that were stripped of the majority of their limbs or, in his words, "cut in half. You wouldn't believe it. But the clubhouse is fine. The guest houses are fine, other than the lodge, which a tree fell on. Even that was lucky, though, because normally we have people staying there on their way home from the Masters. But with the Masters postponed, no one was there, which was good, because I don't think anyone would have made it out alive." (READ MORE: Powerful overnight storms kill 7 in Murray County, Georgia; at least 23 people injured) That doesn't mean it won't take time to get the course up and running again. "It will take the rest of the summer to get it back," Simonsen said. "But this golf course will be as good as it's ever been."
Man, that's brutal. I don't understand why more nice courses aren't 150-170 w/ tons of water and sand around the green. Much more enjoyable IMO.
