sounds like Loy jumped the gun on this one...he never should have put it (he said so himself afterwards)
Just looked at the US covid numbers out there and i really want to wish you all a lot of safety and wisdom. The discrepancy between the US and Europe at this point is baffling to me as the US should be better suited to deal with this . The path the officials have taken has just been breathtakingly stupid consistently. With soccer already being back (albeit in empty stadiums obviously) things will normalize gently at yalls side of the pond soon enough. Just stay smart, stay safe and stay distant
For some reason my dad got a call today fromND ticket office. Is this real? He’s dumb enough to do it too. I just don’t know why he’s getting the call. He never even went to college let alone graduated from ND. Season tickets section 121 4 Seats. $1125 per ticket ($4500). 6 home games plus tickets to Lambeau field game this was probably Thoros of Beer
Probably. If he’s ever bought tickets from ND or Vivid Seats in the last couple years, they’re desperate at this point. They doubled the number if tickets faculty and staff could buy this year (I didn’t take them up on it)
We are led by an abject imbecile in Trump. The richest, most powerful nation in the world collectively closing it's eyes and praying things miraculously get better rather than fighting it head on. Unable to make the tough decisions and unwilling to make the needed sacrifices for the collective good - here we are. I am glad the rest of the world has shown what can be done by listening to the science and a little solidarity. You're now rightly being rewarded with things like sports opening back up. Don't think we get there until the vaccine arrives and that's bad news for college football.
I am not a fire kelly guy yet, but this can’t keep up. This year is a bit bizarre so he should get a pass but let’s not wait until he destroys everything he built for the next coach. This job needs to be attractive
Really all they need is Buchner to be what they think he is. If they get elite QB play there will be adequate talent to make it work. If not, then it's just more of what we've seen.
I’m not ready to write off Kelly yet by any means, but this is beginning to look like the start of what happened with Brey. We can try to blame it on current events all we want, but I don’t think that tells the whole story. If next years class isn’t fantastic, we’re going to have issues.
I've been concerned with Kelly's recruiting for many years now (he just flat out doesn't work hard enough, and I don't think the staff as a whole does a good job reading where they stand with top recruits), but the recruits that comprised the roster the last three seasons are going to be about as highly rated as the recruits on the roster the next three seasons so this isn't really anything to panic about. It's nowhere near Willingham-level recruiting.... you couldn't even find 10 prospects that Willingham was recruiting let alone a top 10 comprised of mostly 4 stars. The worst part about these recent classes is that they will likely be the core of what the next guy inherits and the cupboard should be much more well stocked than it will be.
Yeah the overall results certainly aren’t Willingham level. Just that individual list Pete put together gives Willingham vibes. It feels like our staff has basically packed it in this cycle, which is really discouraging.
I've honestly gotten that same vibe every year since the Jaylon Smith class.... if the top 50 guys don't fall out of the sky then its just welp not enough ND guys this year
it was so promising too, now all the recruiting sites are giving them excuses for this class imploding.
They definitely have. And the sad thing is, other staffs turned up the heat when COVID hit. Our staff just saw it as an opportunity for a vacation
I'm so happy its this time of the year. Not like there was am event that royally fucked the class. At least it feels like football season when people are whining about the class in June.
That argument would be valid if it just happened in Indiana. But it’s worldwide, there is no excuse here. Not sure why some are trying to make some. Everybody is dealing with the same shit..some better than others.
Think it's mostly because we already have five defensive backs committed. His teammate that's also committed is technically No. 6 but he'll probably be a linebacker. Plus they're still trying to flip Hancock from Clemson.
it's called Big Game Hunting and OSU can do it that being said, would love to add Devonta Smith to our recruiting class...he would make this class a grand slam for our standards
hmmm...all the chatter on the board seems like he's going to commit to Bama soon? Is that what you are hearing Pelican ?
Yes. I just know he's someone ND really liked and I'm sure you guys will keep recruiting him. Wouldn't be shocked if the Ohio State situation happens to him again with Bama's class. He's good and is by all accounts is a really good kid. Maybe he has a monster senior year and ends up getting a nice ratings bump. Or maybe he'll get one minutes after he commits to Bama.
I’m not gonna quote my earlier post about him but Fisher has Stanley/McGlinchy/Nelson level potential.
Have to assume the Western Michigan game moves to NBC Sports as NBC just took over US Open golf broadcasting rights.
Tosh and Fischer are the best 2 olinemen recruits since Q and both have 1 round potential Tosh is a bigger Stanley and Fischer is a unicorn in his own right for ND. Someone compared Blake to DJ Fluker from Bama from a few years ago as a recruit and that sounds like a good comparison
It sucked that Avon drew and was knocked out by Brownsburg in the first game of the playoffs (they were the top ranked teams by virtue of the the Indy teams beating each other all season) because I wanted to see Fisher play against some of the power schools. He absolutely emasculated the handful of the D1 caliber players he saw during the season but would have loved to see him against the athletes that Warren Central/Carmel/Ben Davis etc would have thrown at him.
Need to watch the one he did on “the decision” to get a feel for it. Guy is a legit journo so it could be really good.
I know his sister or whatever was at PSU but what a crazy spot to transfer if you think you were going to be part of that RB group. Wasn’t time buried at Safety. I liked his film and was excited for him at ND. Hope he has things in line and does well.
