Junction Kitchen on Spruill is a good place for brunch. Edmund's Oast (brewery) is one of my favorites for drinks.

Halls is the best but was closed this week. I believe it was Covid related.

little jacks tavern has great food/drinks and has moved a lot of the seating outside. We enjoyed it.

I guess while everyone is here, the wife and I are doing a Savannah and Charleston road trip 3 days in each, staying in VRBOs downtown in both places. Taking our black lab with us as well. We've never been to either place but looking to stroll all over town. Any recommendations are appreciated!

    Things planned:
    Savannah:

Dinner at the old pink house
    Beach day at Tybee Island

    Charleston:
    Hall's Chophouse
    A sailboat sunset cruise thing

Looking to do a lot of walking in both and will be bringing bug spray and masks.

Charleston (my parents live there part time so I've visited several times but certainly not a local):

I would see about renting a golf cart and cruising south of broad and through downtown. My parents have one and it's great fun and easy to see downtown. Rainbow Row/French Quarter/Lower King are all very cool in addition to the old homes South of Broad. I was sad to see the current state of upper king due to riots and I believe Covid-19 related economic hardship on the retail/restaurants. A ton of retail vacancy on upper king.

We went to the beach on Sullivan's Island three times last week. My kids loved it compared to the cold ocean in Southern California (where we live).

    Sailboat sunset cruise sounds awesome.

    Restaurants not previously mentioned:

    Lewis BBQ
    Rodney Scott BBQ
Leon's (I believe the same owners as Melfi's and Little Jack's)
    167 Raw
Big Bad Breakfast was good - my dad likes it but I'm sure there are other foodie place.

Sullivan's island is just the best btw. Love that place. I almost feel bad because my wife and I rave about Sullivan's and my parents bought downtown. We have two young kids and the water and beach is so nice and mellow. We aren't in the going out and bar scene that King street has at this point in our life....it's all about the kids.

Sullivan’s isn’t allowing chairs, shade devices, or ice chests right now FYI. Not sure how much they’re actually enforcing it but just a heads up.

they are enforcing it....4 carts driving up and back. We sat on our towels and it was no big deal. I think they were giving tickets to people who had chairs/coolers.

Anyone know of any resources to research the schools in Charleston. I have a first grader. Just trying to figure out where he could go to school if we temporarily relocated. Have a house downtown (Harleston Village) but seems like he would need to be in private. Mount Pleasant seems to have good public schools.

How walkable is Charleston? Will I need a car or will Uber be fine if there’s anything we want to see outside of the city?

Have wanted to move more south. Charleston is an area we've been thinking of. Had some friends just move to Greenville, so we're going to visit them for a couple days then go spend some time with my parents in Myrtle Beach. I'm thinking we should make a 2 hour drive to check out some of Charleston while we're down there.

    What's some good day-time activities?

(she wouldn't mind moving to NC to be closer to her sister, I wanted something more southern/warmer like GA. I'd like to be closer to the coast/water, Greenville is obviously not that)
