Just started back playing after taking about a year off. I was struggling really badly with my swing before I stopped playing and not surprisingly that continued when I started back last month. Really having a hard time with too much arm rotation early in the backswing causing the clubface to open and then having to do all sorts of contortionist tricks to try and close it at impact. Two-way miss was/is the problem, and I couldn't pinpoint the cause. I even took my first ever legit lesson about a month ago to try and remedy this funk. It kinda helped but not really because it corrected some issues with my setup, but it still didn't address why my clubface was open sometimes and not others. I was talking to the guy who runs the proshop, and he mentioned that it sounded like my right hand might be the culprit and to look into the "Palm Up/Palm Down" feel and see if it might help with the open clubface. One trip to the range and nine holes yesterday afternoon, I shot a 36 with two birdies. Not sure it's definitely the fix, but I haven't hit the ball that well in probably 2+ years. Excited about playing the game again for the first time in a while.
I liked Fox’s coverage and the fact that they were willing to try new ideas and push coverage forward. That’s a shame.
Working on my grip and swing as well. When you say palm up and palm down for your RH you mean in backswing and follow through? I am working on something similar to cure my slice. Flipping my right wrist over top on my follow through helped today a lot on the range.
Yeah, it’s the feeling I’m working on to attempt to keep the club face more neutral or slightly closed on the takeaway and through the backswing and impact. Basically, I want to feel like my palm is facing the ground to start my backswing (which helps me stay in plane much better than the open faced rotational stuff I’ve been doing), palm up at the top of my backswing (like holding a tray), and back to palm down at impact. But I’m just looking for that feel, especially at impact. This video details the idea and helped it make sense to me. Might help you as well. I think this guy has some pretty solid videos.
Side arming a baseball is your feel for getting that right elbow tucked and and palm flat. That motion will shallow the shaft and give you a little bow in the left wrist to square/shut the face.
Shot a 38 on 9 today. Scheduled a lesson for Monday of next week to smooth out some swing inconsistencies but man I’m loving the new irons so far. Also picked up a mostly new driver and putter from a friend that is so far much more consistent too... although I had 17 putts through 9 today.
New Paige podcast description: “You got game...and we aren’t talking about golf. Paige and her pals want to help you with your SEXTING game” She’s doing that as a bit now, right? I guess at least she’s found her niche?
donated? That's an investment. They could also overlay graphics around the green on the TV broadcast (which would be fine with me) and it wouldn't impact the play and serve as a backstop.
Sure. I guess my point was more that the same information could've been accomplished by saying. Bryson's gained his weight because he's working out and drinking 6 protein shakes/day.
I have a double shake after a WO and I am on the toilet shortly after every time. Can’t imagine 6 shakes a day. He has money, he should shift to you know more meals. Higher a chef.
Honors was great. A lot of the trees lost where close to the clubhouse. You used to not be able to tee the clubhouse as much from the course, and walking down 10 you could see the holes to your right which used to just be thick forest. Here is a photo of 8 where you can see a difference.
Bought this putt out trainer last week. Have been putting 15 mins a night hitting 7 foot putts since then. Stroke feels much improved, I started hovering my putter just a hair and feel like I’m getting the ball turned over better. Backstroke has tightened up and isn’t as shaky. The first 2 nights I couldn’t make 5 consecutive seven footers. Since then I’ve rattled off 30 in a row with ease. Got tired and quit at 50 one night. Hit 10 in a row with my eyes closed earlier. No idea how much this will help. Will find out next weekend.
I saw some pros on Instagram using it. Like most things I just ordered it and started using it. it’s got a little hole that ball will stick in if you hit the perfect line and pace. I’ve been focusing on trying to hit it there and then when I look at the blue part (hole) it seems impossible to miss. I think that’s part of it. when I’m rolling a bunch over the blue it’s still hard as hell to make the ball in that tiny hole. I’ve seen the pros rattle off a few in a row but even when I’m making 30 or so I’m lucky to get more than 1-2.
Working on curing a slice. Adjusted grip Tilt back in stance, right shoulder slightly back Weight on right heel in backswing Flipping my hands over really made a big difference on the range today. Either hit it dead straight or to the left.
I bought it at the beginning of quarantine with the PuttOut mat. I feel like the lines have helped with a much more consistent set up over every putt and it rolls really well. It does have to be a pretty perfect putt to stick in the small hole but I really enjoy it
I’ve got a mat coming but shipping seems to be delayed. Have been using it on a new rug we have that’s pretty quick. do you have as much trouble getting it to stick as I do? I’m really doing it from 7 feet, nothing really shorter.
I do find it pretty challenging. I can get in some grooves where I’ll get a few to stick in a row and I’ll get really confident with it. I’d say it’s something like a 10-20% success rate
Anybody used the triple track balls by Callaway? I‘be always had a hell of a time getting putts on line and feeling like the line I chose behind the ball and standing over the ball were the same. I think me being left-eye dominant and right handed contributes to that. Seems like something I can stand over and more comfortably square my putter to the line and trust the line a bit better.
Left eye dominant/right handed checking in. The triple track isn’t for me, but I love the truvis balls. It’s almost like a magic eye thing. Really locks me in on full shots. On putts and short shots, I like being able to see the spin.
I hit it to an inch on 8. Caddy told me I made it. Also drove it in A bunker on 12 and chunked it into a pot bunker for a horrendous double. Was close to shooting a number today
I hate that thing out of pure frustration but it is great....especially on a rug during a long conference/zoom call
A few weeks ago I joined the course near my house. The club championship was last Fri-Sun. I got put in the champ flight due to my GHIN. Weather was shit Friday--rain and windy. I got extremely sideways starting on the 5th hole and ended up with 2 triples and 3-4 dubs. Fired an 85 and debated walking off the course. Went 74-72 on Saturday and Sunday. Golf is hilarious.
