We tried to save this girl last night, but it just wasn't meant to be. Pixel was contacted after she came to the shelter, as they were going to put her down immediately but wanted to give her a chance with us. She had the most disgusting, horrific injury i've seen in a long time, from an embedded collar and horrible neglect. The shelter thought she had a neurological disorder, which was why they were going to put her down. We got her to our vet, who thought she didn't have any underlying issues, but was in so much pain and trauma that it presented that way. She barely moved, didn't eat, pupils dilated and fixed, all from pain. They were going to make her comfortable, debride the wound and go from there. Unfortunately she started seizing and would not respond to any care. A second vet thought she did have a neuro issue and possibly tetanus based on the symptoms and the history. We tried a few more times, but with no success the call was made to end her suffering. I would love just 5 minutes with the fucker who did that to her. It's just hard to understand stuff like this. RIP Aurora.
Knew it was coming soon but officially going on meds for Stuart's heart murmur . He's almost 9 so apparently he beat the odds on not getting it till this late.
Sad to here, try to enjoy every moment with the little guy until he can go rest. It’s tough, hang in there.
Fuck these assholes, who could be so fucking miserable that they enjoy hurting animals. cut me In on that five minute if you ever get it, or at least I want pics
That is heartbreaking. At least she was able to be laid to rest peacefully instead of in some awful manner if she hadn’t been taken in. So there’s some solace in that People suck
Anyone have any brand recs or a rec for a dog pool or should I just get whatever looks good on amazon
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01I3DTB2S?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title Just bought the largest version of this. Happy with it. Folds into a small package, pvc sides and seems like the bottom is going to last a while. Happy with the order.
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Summer-Waves-59-Plastic-Wading-Kiddie-Pool-Blue/925608275 Had one dog that loved jumping in, digging at the bottom, then laying down. Tosu only gets in it to save his toys from drowning.
Found out today that Sabo has cancer. Obviously that's shitty news and it sucks and it's been on my mind ever since Monday's biopsy. He's going to Ohio State Veterinary Center on 7/15 to have another scan thingy done to get a better picture of what's going on. The positive news is that the biopsy produced something called a Mitotic Index which shows how quickly it's growing and how aggressive it is. The vet said when they see a cancer positive biopsy come back the index is typically somewhere in the 4-6 range and anything less than 5 is considered a "good" prognosis. Sabo's came back less than 1 so I'm hoping it's a scenario where it can be removed with a fairly simple surgery. It's just so weird because he's showing no effects whatsoever outside of having the little mass in his mouth (maybe the size of dime).
the puppy looks great, but you need to talk to your wife/gf about the cheesy decorations she puts in the house.
you just know that the poor puppy was put over there so the picture is just perfect with the pictures in the back and the little rug. I bet this pic is on Facebook. I am being an asshole right now Realtree Buck but I am just kidding. The pup looks great, I actually love that furniture...maybe not the love story thing but whatever, if the woman is happy etc.
Wifes little dog (toy yorkie) has had diarrhea in her kennel the last three nights Always seems fine all day after, no change in diet (only that my nephew was visiting this weekend and we worry he might have given her something) Little thing was all normal all day again yesterday, but last night when I went to put her in her kennel, she acted like her back legs didn't work I could move them around causing no whimpers or seeming to cause pain, and u could feel her push back on me with them, she just wouldn't get up. Made the decision to see how she did after a few hours, and she was fine and getting up and walking fine. But again with the diarrhea overnight, but seemingly fine this morning, running and jumping up the stairs and all I think she's too small and energetic to go without food at all for a few days. Any suggestions for something to give/feed her to settle her gut?
How would you guys handle this situation? This spring when I was spreading mulch out back and my neighbor’s kids ran into my property and started playing with my dog. I only had about 20 min left of work and they were outside my fence so I didn’t think much of it. Now, Almost 4 months later every time I go outside to play fetch they immediately run out and ask me if they can come over to play with Teddy or if I’ll let him out back, or if I can put him in their back yard. I tell them No each time because I don’t want to have to supervise 3 children when I’m trying to relax. Their dad will come out back and lean all the way over my fence and let my dog lick his face and the kids do the same, while climbing on my split rail fence. I noticed Teddy has started to stand on his hind legs and put his front paws on the top of the fence. I’m assuming this is because my neighbors trying to play with him that way. I don’t want him to think that’s okay, and one day jump the fence and get hit in traffic. It’s getting to the point, IMO, where I’m going to have to confront my neighbor about boundaries.
I think you just have to explain your concerns to them. I think it would be best to do it the way that you just explained -- that your fear is that he'll jump the fence.
This is my suggestion as well. Try to tell him you're not mad they're playing and enjoying the dog, you just don't want him to form bad habits that could lead to him jumping the fence. My biggest fear about having a fence, not being tall enough.
This 14 year old girl had a bad seizure this morning. Pooped herself and continued to hyperventilate for a solid 20-25 minutes after. During and after the seizure she couldn’t get up. I got her up with help from a towel wrapped around her belly holding her up because it seemed to effect her back legs more than anything. She started walking with the help from the blanket and kept running into the wall on the left. She finally got past the wall and continued walking in a circle before collapsing. After another 20 minutes or so, she seemed much better so I stood up and called her to me to see if she could walk. Got right up and walked straight to me and hasn’t had any issues since. In fact this picture was taken about an hour after the episode. Her vet wants to do blood work but her hunch is that it’s some sort of brain tumor. I had a complete meltdown during the seizure. Being that she’s 14, I’m expecting something bad every other week and according to our test run this morning, I’m going to be a complete and total wreck when it does happen.
You know since covid and the closure of the dog park we have taken Sally to the creek at least two times a week and she loves it who knew
Dierks will swim for his our entertainment. Don't need to throw a stick and whatnot. Just swims near the dock until he wants a break.
Quigley is going to another foster with more experience and a yard; a 60lb 1-y/o was too big/energetic for two middle aged shut ins in a small apartment. The rescue has an older dog coming in next week so we'll probably take that one.
My man comes back from training tomorrow. Gotta make sure I keep training him every day. Supposed to be a 5 week course but he was ready to go home after 3, but he flipped out when we met with the trainer so she had to correct a few things.
