Not all Barrel store picks are Dickel. I just grabbed one that’s an 18yr old Kentucky Barrel that was finished in a port barrel. Also picked up a really interesting Kentucky Spirit pick from the same store. Owner mentioned that it was a low proof 11 yr Barrel. It’s one of my favorite bottles this year.
It won’t let me load my photo, but here is the write up on the bottle: Barrell Craft Spirits 18 year old Whiskey aged in Ruby Port Cask and bottled Cask Strength Jonathan had the opportunity earlier this year to taste a 100+ barrels with Joe and the crew from Barrell Craft Spirits and selcted this one of a kind 18 year old Kentucky Whiskey finished in a ruby Port barrel and bottled cask strength at 120 proof (only a Whiskey and not a Bourbon because it was aged in used barrels instead of brand new). I am very excited to be the only store currently in the country to offer this limited single barrel release! Price is $98.13 + tax per bottle while they last with a 3 bottle limit per person! Barrel Yield 162 bottles
got it. whiskey, not bourbon. i was told the Gordon's will be bourbon, but we'll see. How is it? Sounds tasty. i like port finishes.
will hopefully try tonight, still have my bourbon run in the car from yesterday so the wife would not find out
Oregon bottle lottery live today, lots of Japanese choices this time as well as Weller 12, C.Y.P.B. and FP. The Wellers are $40-$50 respectively. Entered the wife and I, she is not going to be happy if I win the 17 year Habiki at $200 or 18 year Yamazaki for 350 but it’s really the will of the gods if I win.
Hibiki 17 is 425-450 on secondary and Yama 18 is 650 so if you win either and don't want them, I'll help you make a bunch of money. Wife will be pleased.
What’s the best way to ship bottles? Just bubble wrap the hell out of it? And do you pay insurance on it?
FedEx saver. No insurance (it’s illegal for you to ship it). Bubble wrap is good. There are also special bottle shaped bubble wrap that you can order on amazon. There is also bottle shaped foam that works well.
Fedex or UPS. Tons of bubble wrap. don't tell them what it is. don't use USPS. Make sure the package can't move around. we have several "how to ship posts". anyone want to find them and add a primer to the first post?
Confirmed. I send a lot of Italian care packages, olive oil and pasta and such. Always wrap the olive oil in cardboard and bubble wrap.
Sampling Old Fitz. Dick Trickle sent me a 9 sample and I really like the bite mixed with the vanilla. May even prefer it to the 11, but the 11 is super smooth.
Lol, I was afraid to ask if it was new, because I didn’t want to sound dumb. I thought the Nobiliary was the release for this year.
Yeah it just hit Athens last week and only one store got it. Bottle says Apr 2020. Im 100% guessing but seems they are gonna do a 12 year every year (2007, 2008) and then a named (Nobiliary, Dominus, Sagacity, Empery, Premise, etc..)
Just switched up to the Garrison Brothers store pick. I really like the amaretto flavor. It pairs great with cigars.
I’m going to respectfully decline that. While I highly doubt how to ship illegally is going to hit any radar of law enforcement on the interwebs, that would make it easy enough to find and get the thread nuked. Openly discussing secondary sales is how a facebook page got yanked I think which I think we’ve mostly avoided.
