Really we didn’t need the whole shut down for 3 months if people would just act semi responsible, no groups, social distancing, masks etc We would have well been on our way to being recovered
Honestly this whole experience is making me think long and hard about the selfish, dystopian hell scape society of anti-values my wife and I are trying to raise our kids in. The rest of the world is going to have been re-opened and moved on and we'll still be debating putting a piece of cloth in front of our faces with a bunch of overnight asthmatics who don't give two fucks about anything other than themselves. For me at least, the self-centered world view of our country is far more depressing than anything else.
are the virus actors too? maybe they will claim they are brainwashed into acting when they get sick and end up with the other actors in the ICU
So I went to a Board of Education meeting last night and the plan is for elementary to go four days a week, high school and middle school to go two days a week and for there to be two children per seat on the bus. Also, since the results of the online poll show that the majority of parents do NOT want their kids wearing masks, mask use for children will be optional. Oh and mask use among employees will be optional too. These kids will be taking it home to Memaw and Pawpaw (who raise them because of the opioid epidemic). So I'd say WV is about to get fucked proper.
Columbus City schools announced their plans today High school will be online Middle school and under will be 3 days online, 2 in class
Gotten to the point where I really only check in on this thread once a morning, futilely hoping to see a hint of change at the top over the last 24 hours (yes I know you don't need to quote this) just gotta keep doing what I can do to help
Florida averaged over 60,000 tests a day over a 4 day period last week. The last 3 days has seen an average of 36,358. basically a 40% decrease in testing. Positive % going up, number of positives going down as they are doing much less testing. this is criminal.
I'm not gonna lie. I've got food, liquor, video games, cable and the internet. If I weren't single this would be my nirvana. Yes, I miss social interaction, but I have about ten people who are very strict on their handling of this that I see so this really hasn't bothered me. I'm actually enjoying the introvert lifestyle. Now do I want to do it another six months? Fuck no.
I opened a small business in a small town and met with an athletic team about doing work with them for injury recovery. The guy that runs the team asked "what's your opinion on covid, that will determine whether we work with you" in that way that says, "I'm joking but I'm not joking". I did social media homework on the guy prior to the meeting and he's in full on 'this is all made up' mode. So...that was a fun conversation. I basically stuck to, "I do whatever I can to act with an abundance of caution to limit exposure of infectious diseases while delivering the best care that I can to every patient in front of me." It sucks being in a business that very much needs customers right now and having to bite your tongue and not lose your shit on people that don't know wtf they're talking about. I've studied infectious diseases and I'm not as confident in a preformed answer as the painter on my table. Endrant.
staying at home sucked for like the first month, now i don’t really give a shit seeing all my friends being stupid and getting sick has really made me feel good about my choices but then again i’m just a dumb pussy loser even though i know 30+ people that are sick am i right Vinegar Strokes
Numbers in Tampa just released are bad. Testing is down in a major way. I’m expecting a scary data dump at the end of the week/next week. At least hoping that’s the case and the testing really isn’t down this much.
Forgive my ignorance here but are these cases all Florida residents? Or just cases reported from Florida health systems?
residents, I believe, in the way they are reporting now (it has changed a couple times so I'm not entirely sure)
Hospitals in south Florida seeing a surge in covid-19 admissions this is the largest hospital chain in south Florida
it seems to me like the government (besides trump) decided to get serious about the virus this week for the first time. It’s unbelievable.
"You should wear a mask when you can't maintain distance to help the health of you and your community." "Yeah, fuck that, I'm not doing either." I'm starting to think we could put a dent in the obesity problem if the government told everyone they shouldn't eat vegetables.
Defense Production Act could have mustered manufacturers across the US to start producing masks/ppe as fast as they can. Maybe by October we would have been reaching capacities that would have helped.
like 15 of them got sick from going out one night most of them didn’t even have symptoms, a few had cold symptoms, and i think 2 of them had to go to the hospital
Imagine saying, "hey guys lets go to a party tonight... 2 of you will end up in the hospital, but everybody else should be good." Who says no? Everybody? Nobody?
This is a smart move, its a shame other states didn't do this early on. China showed us what to do and we didn't follow
