So correct me if I’m wrong here, a Europa spot goes to the FA Cup winner. If that cup winner is already in or in Champions League, the spot goes to the next placed team (6th if City is let off the hook, 7th if the ban is upheld). With today’s results, either ManU or Chelsea will be in the final, and as things stand, more than likely to get a spot in either of the European cups. Barring a top “4” comeback, we should be cheering for the ManU/Chelsea winner in the final to give us an easier road to some European nights. Does all of that check out?

Speed, no Tanguy. Looks like this is Jose's defensive pairing going forward. Makes you wonder why Toby resigned. Unless he is hurt, I expect him to make a fuss soon.
Why would he make a fuss? His play this season hasn’t dictated him earning a starting spot, and he never made a peep when Poch tried freezing him out.
I feel like he has been vocal in the past. Maybe I’m wrong, but the fact that he was not going to resign and Jose somehow convinced him, makes me think this would be frustrating to him.
Neither has been good all season, but so far nothing catastrophic has happened. My guess is the first big fuckup and people start questioning.
I think it’s more of Jose trying give Dier and Sanchez as much time as possible together this year to prove they can be the CB pairing moving forward. Dier already had a big fuckup since the restart, but he also seems to have more support from the coaching staff and fanbase than he has in some time. We miss Toby’s diagonals, but he’s somewhat of a liability in the air (as is Davinson) and Dier has decent passing range. I think the finish this season, now that UCL is out, is tinkering with what we have to figure out how we’ll approach next season given we’re unlikely to be active this summer for a number of reasons.
Just win out, that’s all we can do. And then hope everyone above us who play each other draw. Someone did a breakdown on reddit, we could end up even fourth, which hopefully won’t be needed with the City ban. Ok, glhf, match starting.
