Oh live a little! I don’t care either way I’m just tired of answering the question over and over Facebook has a policy. TMB doesnt. We’ll be Ok discussing secondary sales.
I sent him a bottle recently and it shattered and I'm still pissed at myself. Go ahead and laugh at me
I loved the KC 12 store pick I but I came across a 15 yr pick yesterday and scooped it up. Hot damn if it isn’t one of my favorite pours ever. Hard to beat 15 years old and 120 proof for $49.99
I could have sworn I just posted this, but dead soldier...good thing Brick just sent me a reinforcement.
Lots of WhistlePig 10 Year, 12 Year Bespoke, 12 Year Special Finished, and 15 Year Single barrels hitting the greater-Atlanta area mid to late August. All the samples were phenomenal
How is it? I had someone asking if the account I was in had it and had to track it down. They had it locked down.
Is it though? What I've tasted vs other things in the market going at similar costs, WhistlePig wins. In Atlanta at least, WhistlePig just got more manageable price-wise. Especially for intro WP drinkers. The 10 Year 50mLs are $4.99 at most places vs $8.99 before.
90% of the market is sourced. The best rye comes from Canada. What makes something sourced from Kentucky, Indiana, Pennsylvania, New York, Tennessee better or lesser? If it's rye I want it coming from somewhere better known for Rye. What's the water they're using? At the end of the day it's all about the taste and what you value it at. If you don't believe in rye coming from Canada, you do you.
To be fair a ton of whistle pig product is sourced from the same place in Indiana a lot of brands source from, their retail price just happens to be 2-3 times the competitors most of the time. No one is shitting on the quality of the product, more the price in relationship to comparably sourced competitors with similar age statements.
I do prefer mgp WP. But usually won’t buy it due to price unless it’s a store pick (like a 10 year that’s actually 12)
I totally get what you're saying. There's just more to it than where it's from. That does play a large role in it though. It's all about what you like and what you value. It's all about knowing what you like and value.
Sure, who is picking those barrels, location of rick house for aging, etc all play a big role. Hey, a 15 year age stated rye for 175 retail is even getting hard to find so there is an argument to be made.
I understand this. Just saying there are comparable or better quality products available at better prices which is why by and large whistle pig products sit longer than other brands. It isn’t because their product is shit (it’s not), it’s because they’re priced as premium allocated products when they should be priced like a daily drinker for the most part.
