He can’t miss. He has covered songs I can’t stand and now i love them. Or at least his version. I’m not as in love with his most recent studio album that sturg helped with, but the live versions of all those songs are fantastic.
Love me some Tyler. One of those artists that sends chills up your spine at times when he sings certain songs. Dude is straight peaches.
Imagine if they went on tour together but it got cancelled because of a once in a century pandemic. Lol that would suck
And then sturgill difficulted his way out of his record and touring contracts so it won't be restarted
Didn't listen to him prior to attending Austin City Limits last year. Was about 10 rows back for his show. He is now my most played artist on Spotify by a long shot. Big fan.
I wasn’t a huge fan of country squire but purgatory will go down as one of my favorite albums ever. It’s brilliant. I find the concept of it scary relatable to my life leading up to having kids.
Not a fan of country music in general, but this guy is an elite fucking musician. Same with Isbell and Sturgill. First part of this video he covers Isbell's best song and does it almost better than the original. And he was probably a teenager when it was recorded
It goes: Tyler Sturgill Benji Colter for me. the one thing that I’ve come to learn about Americana is that it hits the same notes for me that hip hop does when it’s at its best. It covers ground between love, drugs, sex and also does fine job of portraying the human element of music. Way of life, struggle etc
Isbell Childers Tod Wall Sturgill I know my Sturgill rankings will be blasphemy but I just prefer a dude and his acoustic guitar
I love Isbell and should’ve listed him. I don’t love a ton though tbh. The stuff I do love from this genre is very important to me
