I've only ever seen Bowman in any store twice (once regular and once mega box) and both times I must have gotten there right after stocking and both times sold out within hours (first time my friend was able to get a few leftover ones, 2nd time compelety gone before he got there). Considering I have spent less than $200 total on Bowman products (probably closer to $150), id say I've done rather well. Pulled two mega box autos (not great players though), a gold refractor (again not a great player), a Jasson mojo refractor, 2 jasson chrome and a jasson base, a witt mojo refractor, 2 chrome and multiple paper, as well as multiple of other of most decent guys. I kind of want to go look for more, but know I've gotten most of the best cards, beside the crazy stuff I'd never hit. I guess I could keep searching for a big hit or some more jasson to flip some, but with a wife I kind of have to limit my spending. I was ready to buy a lot more mega box yesterday though before I was told there was a limit
Out of the 9 mega boxes I opened, I got one Dominguez Chrome and one auto of Jake Sanford....not much else besides two numbered parallels of some smaller players
At my parents house and started going through some old boxes. Just from opening the top I saw a Dan Marino jersey card, Larry bird jersey card, Kyle Lowry auto and some other good stuff. I’m going to go through and see if I have any gems.
Thats what got me back into it. During quarantine randomly decided to grab cards from my parents house to see if anything had any value during the lockdown and found my LeBron rookie sold for $200+ (now is selling for $400+). Ended up finding a few more gems. 98% of them are worthless but I found a few good ones
I went to a self checkout with about 8 of them because their limit wasnt posted. The lady overseeing the self check out came over and told me about the limit. I am also sure they probably have cashiers who don't care about enforcing it or dont bother checking their list of items with purchase limits at checkout.
The last time I bought those 5 or so bowman blasters, it obviously came out to a bit more than $100 and the old lady ringing them up made a verbal "wow..." You don't know the half of it lady
Mine came in a few days ago and my first thought was the bubble wrap sleeves they came in will be nice to ship other stuff in.
I ordered one of the jeter and gwynn ones, never got a confirmation email, emailed their customer service about it, and havent heard back
Oh I’m keep it for sure it’s not my style but I can appreciate the art work behind it. Also not a fan of the case it came in there is dirt in it and the card shifts around in it.
I was thinking the same thing, man I should go to the lcs and see what he has, wait if I go there I will easily spend 100-150. Maybe we just stay home.
Former um basketball players and managers started this site selling their old gear. With name image likeness coming I have to imagine tons of sites like this will be popping up. https://theplayerstrunk.com/
I feel like they aren’t allowed to do this. They’re making profits off apparel given to the athletes as part of their scholarship.
Its fine right now because it’s all former college athletes. They will need nil to pass to do it with current ones.
I got 3 boxes of 2020 Chronicles Draft Picks from Target.com. This was probably the best collegiate product this year. Autos from them weren't great, one was a SSP of Anthony Gordon, but the cards are sweet and the variety is awesome. I got a Burrow optic red rated rookie which has gone for over $50 on eBay. The hobby box openings I've watched have had some good hits in them as well.
Have a Nolan Ryan autographed baseball I got through an old call in auction I did with my dad back in the 90’s. They would mail out a list of auction items and time and you would call in to bid. Also have an autographed Roger Clemens jersey card numbered out of 25. If you smell it you get a whif of PEDs.
Do grading companies ding you if the sticker the auto is on is a little crooked? I’d assume so but curious.
I don't think they would actually. I think they focus more on the actual auto vs. how the sticker is put on the card.
Looking to get some cards graded by PSA. Someone explain to me how to go about this and the process. I tried to decipher their website but I’m not understanding what service I need. Most cards will be under the $200 value. Also how do I send them in? Ala top loader, or wider top loader. Should I wipe them down with a microfiber cloth before sending? Any help is appreciated
https://instagram.com/1_of_1_card_shop_psa?igshid=m5l0smu58s8u I've never sent anything in but when 1 of 1 card shop does there next submission I might jump in on it. They will review and prep your cards for you as well. Also, use these
Is it really $20 per card if you do it yourself? So some of these places do group submissions do they have the membership which helps cut down on the cost
The other question I have is The card value options. So if I have an Acuna Jr rookie that is selling for 150 on eBay do I have to do the mote exapensive option or just submit everything at the 99$ value?
There is a maximum declared value for every card you send at every price range. The LeBron rookie card i have is now selling for $600+ so its going to be in the $50 per card submission now. Limit for $20 is $499 declared value so your acuna applies. If you have 15 cards you want to submit, a $250 psa membership includes 15 submission vouchers, so it would save you $50. Or go to a local card store or find online people who do bulk submissions and let you join. Think they can get down to $12-14 each
I'd go over each card carefully and look at centering, look for dings and look at corners. Also look at the cards value on ebay raw v psa 10/9/8. Because some recent cards its doesnt add value to be a 9 v being raw. PSA has reports on their site too that show how many cards they've graded at each number
They have levels of service: Modern (valued under $99) - Pre-2017 - $9/card Ultra Modern (valued under $99) - 2017-present - $12/card Economy (valued $100-499) - $20/card Regular (valued ($500-999) - $50/card As I've said previously, I send orders pretty regularly so I have no issue sending cards anyone wants to grade. As far as how to value your card, I always try to sneak cards into lower levels. If a card sold for $130, I'll try and get it into the Value Modern and see if they call me out on it. I've only been called out 3-4 times and all you have to do is pay the difference in the next level ($8).
How would you personally handle deciding to grade a card where there’s not a ton of history online of graded cards to know how much the value would increase? I found a ton of 06-07 topps finest basketball. Found 4 Lebron base cards and some rookies like a Kyle Lowry auto and lamarcus Aldridge refractor. They all look in really good shape but I’m not sure they’re worth getting graded because I don’t know how much the value would increase.
Yes, you're right. Sending an order to PSA is also an exercise in patience lol. They still have a bulk order of mine that they put in their system in early February. Another bulk that I sent mid-June hasn't even been put in their system yet. They're a little backed up, to say the least.
I'd say they're all worthy of a grade, assuming they'll be 9 or better. At worst, you'll have nice, slabbed cards for your PC.
I’m fine waiting cause these are cards of players I expect to continue to rise up the ranks of their sports. I’m looking to move the prospects like Dominguez and Whitt &Jr. also some of the basketball cards when they start up again.
After using Beckett for my BWJ auto, I'd say they're the easy choice knowing about the pricing and turnaround issues for PSA>
Beckett considers their 9.5 equivalent to a PSA 10, so its actually a 1 to 1 comparison. Beckett 10s are rare and few and far between
Yes but it’s not apples to apples. PSA does not have a 9.5. A BGS 10 is going to sell way better than a PSA 10.
Would you ever grade a card knowing the max you’re probably going to get is a 9? I guess it depends on the card so I’m kind of answering my own question but curious what people’s thoughts are.
