Finally had to talk with my neighbor. His kids were encouraging my dog to jump at the fence and one of them had a shovel and was digging underneath the chain link. Felt like a jackass, but seriously, What The Fuck...

harnesses encourage pulling because it lowers their center of gravity. I recommend watching some episodes of Caesar Milan the dog whisper...guy is a genius when it comes to dog psychology.

Just checked these out. Looks like it could be a good answer. For the most part, Teddy has improved significantly on walks. Lots of ,"No" and and training him to sit and stay until I'm ready to walk. Got the sit command down, shake, and lay down at home, but outside with distractions it's a little more difficult. Really only pulls a bit when we get next to a mail box or a flower bed. He's mostly pretty chill when hes walking in a yard. He's stopped barking at dogs he sees. He'll stand still and sniff. If the dog starts barking, I walk him on the other side of the road.

I highly recommend this training collar. Purchased it to discourage prey drive around our cats, and have successfully used it to correct other unwanted behaviors as well. According to Temple Grandin, prey drive is the only behavior in canines that can't be corrected with positive reinforcement. The collar has three outputs; Beep, Vibrate, and "stimulate" i.e. shock. The first couple of times (literally two) I would beep then vibrate the collar and she would immediately stop the behavior and lay down. The vibrate freaked her out the first time as intended. Now all it takes it the beep, and sometimes pulling out the remote is enough by itself and she's pretty much stopped the negative behavior entirely. I've never shocked her and never will. Possibly the best $40 I've ever spent, it comes with two collars and one remote. You can purchase an additional remote and pair it to any combination of collars (up to 9) which seems excessive haha.

Couldn't find canned pumpkin at the store, but been giving her plain white rice and chicken or plain scrambled egg the past couple of days and last night she made it through the night with no mess in her kennel
We are gunna stick with this food for a couple days and slowly introduce her regular food after she seems good for a couple more days

What size do you use with Dierks? The website suggested size 4-5 for Shepherds.

Fairly certain a size 5. Was a good fit.

The collar will take some time to get used to, but it pays off.

Got home today after being gone all afternoon and my dog had this mark under his nose for some reason. Looks like it's rubbed raw. Not sure what he did

Never seen a mark like that in that spot but one of my dogs doesn't like sharing toys so she tries and hides ones she likes (which is funny because the other dog literally never plays with the toys anyway). She tries to push stuff into the corner on carpet or in the cracks on our couch with her nose and if she does it too much sometimes she will get a mark like that

Looks like the dog was just rubbing it against something repeatedly. It is just in an unusual spot. Like instead of digging it was going at the cage muzzle first.

Wally had himself a little adventure last weekend. He was staying with my in-laws while we were out of town and managed to get out of their yard on Friday night. Think he got spooked by fireworks and the gate connecting to another yard was open and they had a shorter fence he hopped over. They didn't tell us until Saturday morning when we were flying home, which made an already awful experience flying right now infinitely worse. Ended up driving around their neighborhood for hours once we landed with no luck. He loves all people and animals so I figured he had likely been found by now and he just hadn't been taken to a shelter or chip-scanned yet (he also tries to chase cars on walks, so that concerned me).

We came home extremely distraught and my wife was able to get onto Nextdoor for a nearby community and someone had posted a pic of him. Apparently he followed a lady home when she was out for a walk the night before and they took him in for the night. They took him to get checked for a microchip at two different places and apparently our info was completely wrong (it linked him to a vet in Michigan, we live in AZ).

Couldn't have asked for nicer people to find him. They bought him some nice food and he just hung out on the couch with them all day. Got all of his microchip updated fixed and a new collar tag with our phone numbers.

    Neighbor Update
Neighbor’s kids and wife still come to the fence, have Teddy jump up on it and all over them, climb on the fence, reach tree branches into my yard to get Teddy’s toys, basically everything I asked went in one ear and out the other. Resorted to turning on the sprinklers when I see them by the fence. The biggest trouble maker, who I’m convinced will be a brain surgeon one day, just stood in the line of sprinkler fire and got blasted and didn’t bat an eye. Was in disbelief she didn’t move. Laughed my ass off.

Anybody have solutions to stop or control barking? I've had my lab mix for 4 years now. She has always barked at mailman, fireworks, and thunder but nothing too crazy. Now since my have has been pregnant, not sure if she is being over protective but she sits on our couch all day and just barks at anyone who walks in front of our house. She has gotten out of control. I've considered getting a shock collar, but my wife is pretty against it. I dont know what the answer is, but when we have the baby, we can't have her going nuts during naps when everyone walks by

Any suggestions for helping puppies sleep through the night? They wake up to pee around 2:30, which is fine, but it takes them about an hour to settle down and go to sleep again. We literally just walk them to their grass pad and walk them back but they are in full on play mode. It is so frustrating.

They'll stop screaming over time. Crate training is huge for them, and it's much easier when they're puppies. Put a sound machine with a heartbeat in the room with them (or an analog wind-up alarm clock wrapped in a towel in their crates). Make sure that the crate is small enough or partitioned so that they don't have room to do anything other than stand up and turn around. Otherwise, they'll find a corner in the crate to shit in.

I’m not an expert but we have a puppy now that is doing great at bed time

We started by crate training, giving him treats in his kennel and even gave him a few meals in there. Then we kept the crate by the bed and the first few nights he would whine but now he walks in no problem and sleeps till he has to pee around 5. We take him out and he pees right away and bring him back in. Have you tried taking them out separately? Maybe they’ll be less playful then
