Push did some social events in the area when COVID was beginning. Was literally handing out food and shit. I'd love an album from him not saturated with pharm refs.
I can’t even begin to explain how much I owe Guru and Premier for elevating my love for the genre. HBD Guru, Above The Clouds
that reminds me of this, such a great loop. when going to look up the sample it was from an Australian funk rock band. I mean there's a reason why guys like 9th and Pete Rock are the best but it still ceases to amaze me
He’s rapping his ass off no doubt but he always does. It’s just sometimes it’s boring. The Climb Back has some crazy bars though. Lion King On Ice is garbage
I'll just say it. I like this Logic album. Hated his last few albums but this is actually really enjoyable and seems to have a lot of thought behind it
Now that you’ve said it I’ll say it this a fucking solid album. The beats are super good and he’s killing it with the rhymes. Plus it’s honestly a super nostalgic ride because of how he’s wearing his influences on his sleeve and paying tribute throughout the album with wordplay and beat switches. Not to mention a GOAT shows up
I mean, production on No Pressure is absolutely fantastic and the way Logic is handling the song writing by paying homage to his heroes and just keeping a positive vibe without being super cheesy just feels good. I honestly listened to this on a whim expecting to make fun of it but man am I surprised. It’s bright and breezy and good. I’ve only ever listened to Under Pressure with any consistency and enjoyment but No Pressure is a much better effort than even that.
Production samples Erika Badu, Kanye, The Roots, Gold Watch by Lupe, Elevators and Spottie by OutKast and others and just about every sample involves Logic paying respect with his rhyme style or wordplay. Lotta ways it’s conceptual in that regard.
JohnLocke havr you gave this a spin yet? this album is super good, guys. Boldy works perfectly with the jazz instrumentals
