I'll have some new CASA cans to show off next weekend. For now, you all just get another look at this beauty.
So, so jealous. Had Pliny the Younger for the first time a year ago and it is one of the few beers I have had that really lived up to the hype. Really want to try the Elder (and the Younger again as well).
Awesome. A few months ago I picked up a few Casa IPAs at The Theodore on Roosevelt (same owners as the Wandering Tortoise where I got the can today). I buy most of my stuff from King's but this group has some access to different stuff. Besides Casa they seem to have a lot of stuff from Tucson breweries (Pueblo Vida and 1912, specifically), as well as some local Phoenix stuff like Wren House.
I love Wandering Tortoise so I’m not shitting on them but I find it hilarious that they sell a 12 pack of Wren Valley Beer for $29.99 when Wren will sell it direct to people for $22.00 a literal block away.
I know Pliny the Younger only comes out certain times a year but I am on the look for for it at all times. Have yet to see it available. IMO Prez was a lot better than Elder
Didn't even notice that Yea, if I want Wren House I'll just go there. Trying to get a keg or two from them for our wedding next May so I'd like to help keep them in business.
Pliny is still one of the best beers around. It was the OG DIPA and has held the test of time with a ton of breweries using that as the standard.
Valley Beer in the keg would be a massive hit at a wedding. Great idea. Having your wedding in the valley? Where at??
Hoping to get that and one of their IPAs. Superstition Manor in Mesa. My wife (wedding was supposed to be this May so we just did the legal thing and postponed the celebration) grew up on the Mesa/Apache Junction border so she wanted it near the Superstitions. Their food and alcohol options are super shitty but we took a brunch package (her side doesn't drink much) and they let us bring in a food truck and a few kegs if we want. That was all I cared about. Almost all of my invites are coming from the east coast so we're just going to bar hop in Old Town afterwards as a continuation to the reception.
At my in-laws today and needed a little bump. Twelve percent is distributing some really good stuff between Hoof Hearted, Marlowe and Short Throw
I don't really look or know where to go for secondary market stuff. What does a typical 4-pack of something like Tree House, Other Half, Monkish, etc. go for?
Please don’t pay that. Plenty of guys on here are able to get those three highlighted breweries. But to answer your question, they mark up four packs 100-200%.
I have never bought a “box” (a box is usually considered an 8 pack, usually mixed cans, sent in a medium USPS flat rate shipping box, which cost $15 to ship). I trade for any out of distro beer. Enough people want Wren/the chicago beers that I get, that I can trade my extras for non distro to Arizona beers. It also helps that Arizona gets Bottle logic stouts distro here and lots of the country wants those That said an 8 can box of Monkish or Treehouse usually runs $80-$90 shipped if you’re just paying cash. I’d say OH is a bit cheaper but not by much.
It sounds like you have access to monkish (from previous posts), if that’s the case, you can trade for basically anything you’d like without having to buy a box from someone.
Jesus that's a lot of money. I have no interest in making money re-selling beers and don't want to go super deep into the trading game, but good to know I can seek certain beers if I want.
Told the fiancée to open up a beer from the cellar. She comes into the room with two glasses of 2014 GI Prop poured out. Can’t say she doesn’t have good taste.
