Escape from Wheloon premise - you are all drunk at a bar and wake up in a magically imprisoned city. It was a free PDF from WotC during their free Covid giveaways. Also after reading about it I want to play a divination Wizard.
Lucky. You're coming up on one of the best episodes ever over both campaigns Spoiler The King's Cage, episode 69 (nice). Loved this video someone made
Not watching that yet lol I've heard something awesome happens, but don't know what. I've also heard that later something awesome happens that somehow involves a cupcake
Spoiler in the Kings cage they almost had a minimum of 3 players die and easily could have been TPKed. That shit was so intense.
i love how vax and caleb are both well known for just walking away from conversations. i really need to go find the first instance of caleb doing it so i can see everyones reaction to it.
i fell off the wagon around 25/26 when I’d gone back and started before. I just don’t get a lot of time for podcasts
I just always listen in my car, when I run, cook dinner, clean up the house. You’ll get through them faster than you think
I guess I’m also trying to use them as a learning tool as well so I’m trying to pay a decent amount of attention to it.
Looking for ideas. We’re doing our game via zoom, and I’m struggling to think of ways to present the combat maps. I was thinking of doing excel like RonBurgundy but not sure I have the time to make them all the time, but I also think it may be the best option. I’d like to avoid paying for like roll20, but I also don’t understand the full depth of it. Any ideas are welcome. We’re starting with Lost Mines of Phandelver like mentioned previously
Just use roll20. I don't pay for shit on roll20 and you can have perfectly functional combat. You just have to get a little inventive repurposing free maps you find online.
Surprise: I make them up as I go along. Or, I’d google a map archetype and just draw it by memory in google sheets. Worked easy for me, and I think it was pretty seamless
You could also have pretty simple combat and just not have a battle map if your players are new. For a long time with my boys we just did theater of the mind and I described to them what the layout was, didn’t worry too much about movement speeds and distance
Hosted session 1 last night. I think it went pretty well on my part, all things considered. We didn't get as far into the story as I hoped, but it was due to us learning how stuff works and trying to figure out small stuff. We're trying to schedule session 2 considering I'm prepped for it, but I am optimistic the group is going to keep playing.
Also no spoilers but Beau totally Keylith’d another episode this week, lol. Not that I’d blame her, probably would have done the same given the circumstances
Thought of a cool way to flavor my dwarven clerics Spiritual Guardians spell. Spoiler Since his background is Clan Crafter and he is a Forge Cleric follower of Moradin,I thought it would make sense for him to slam his warhammer down on the ground, sending up a shower of "spectral" sparks that would whirl around him protectively.
just finished last weeks episode Spoiler that was ballsy but i would have done the same. probably woulsnt have taken 9 rounds to do it though
One thing I like about campaign 2 over campaign 1 Spoiler That everyone hasn't paired up as couples. I thought it really bogged down the story at times in campaign 1 and the only love story that was any good was the one between Pike and Scanlan. When Ashley played a drunken Pike talking to an absent Scanlan after Grog had passed out
I like how Travis specifically said he will never do a romance with a PC in any D&D game and Laura has tried multiple times in C2 just to tease him.
As a player, 100%. It just seems insane that an enemy can get a hit on a character and take more damage.
It doesn't scale at all, it's 2d8 forever, so he won't be returning more damage than he took for long. And 5e is balanced around 4-6 encounters in between long rests, so he shouldn't be able to use that in every fight.
Yea last night was second time it’s been used in our three sessions and it’s strength to start is just wild to me as a newer player/DM.
C2 Episode 105 Spoiler holy shit if Caleb disintegrated himself there. Liam certainly didn’t think about that before he cast it. They got so lucky
