That’s one of the top 10 albums of 00-09. What rounds it out? The boxer, return to cookie mountain, the funeral easily make it 4 for my list.
they played a 3 hour set when I saw them in KC in 2011. They blew the venue’s lighting rig and played through the whole power outage and it was the coolest thing ever
I don't think there's an album out there that hits me in the feels like At Dawn Maybe Denton After Sunset or the first three Real Estate albums. Maybe Give Em All a Big Fat Lip
This new Shark Toys 7" is a pretty fun listen. Not quite as astonishingly perceptive as last year's Vintage Crop classic, but solid nonetheless. I see also Lithics have a new 12" out but I haven't had a chance to dig in yet.
so according to their bandcamp this mr Gnome album has 26 tracks edit: according to their twitter it's a double LP so I take back the bit of a poppier sound with this one than I'd prefer for a first single but I'm sure it'll grow on me also glad to see Space Opera in the track listing
They are local to this area, correct? Edit: Yeah, Charleston. Thought I remembered seeing them at NBT before. Album added to playlist
Think I’ve posted about Loose Koozies itt before but their full length lp finally came out earlier this year Chill country rock detroit shit. Not as wild as Craig brown or as chilled out as Bonny doon
Country Westerns with a video for Its Not Easy, which has some of the best guitar work I've heard this year IMO. Just love this song driving through the bad ass Western states with this album playing and a vape pen was an absolute pleasure the past few days. Bully and Hoops might top it, but I think this will probably be my top album for 2020
my recommendations, not necessarily because they're like Cults or Sales though, more just because they have female vocals and I like them Alvvays Angel Olsen Blouse (or Charlie Hilton solo stuff) Eternal Summers Faye Webster Fazerdaze Hannah Cohen Japanese Breakfast Margaret Glaspy Molly Burch Natalie Prass Nilufer Yanya Petal Widowspeak
Also, I cannot stop listening to Julien Baker and boygenius. She is pretty amazing. I fault myself for sticking with mostly male artists historically, and clearly I was an idiot.
this sentiment has been expressed a number of times by a decent # of people in here over the past few years IIRC my top albums of 2019 list was nearly half women. We've come a long way
