Wire to wire. Fuck the asterisk. It's gonna count. Looooove the new pieces. Didn't realize Sonny Gray hasn't given up more than four runs since the beginning of last year. I think the shortened season will favor our staff, which could be strong, but break down with wear and tear. Crowd noise killed me. The organ interludes made me laugh. This has to be killing the players to not get to feed off the energy last night would have brought. But still, the view didn't suck.
I think there’s a couple reasons Aquino isn’t going to see much action this year unless someone gets hurt. We’re stacked in the OF, he still has minor league options left, and he looked like shit most of the spring.
Aside from the upper deck HR, he pitched a pretty damn good game. I don’t remember him being that sharp with his breaking stuff.
I think you guys are good and will contend in the central, but the Tigers suck. Boyd would be your #4 starter, and the Tigers lineup has maybe 4 MLB average players.
Was wondering about this myself last night. https://www.courier-journal.com/sto...-aquino-move-shows-surplus-muscle/5462579002/
Oh cool Thom is already saying Moustakas is out for two weeks. That's about a fifth of the season. No big deal. Hopefully he’s misunderstanding the IL/COVID rules.
Starting off 1-2 against the Tigers isn’t ideal, we lose the series against the Cubs and this seasons gonna get out of hand quick...
Everyone gets Covid out of the gate, herd immunity, surge to the World Series while all the other teams get decimated later. The path is there.
If we don't make the expanded playoffs this year no way should Bell be allowed back. I love watching this idiot take our starters out too early and bench Shogo and Winker for no name guys because of righty left match ups.
I can’t hardly get behind Winker anymore, he doesn’t do anything well, he’s a mediocre player who should be behind Shogo, Senzel, and Castellanos...Is probably put Erwin and Aquino ahead of his as well. maybe I’m missing something
Winker is a pretty proven hitter at this point. Almost 900 at bats with a .283 average and a .379 obp. He's not a good defender but we have the DH now so that helps improve his value. He's also one of our few guys that actually get on base. Winker is much more proven then Senzel, Aquino and Ervin at this point. He's proven to not hit that well lefties though, so I'm fine not starting him against a lefty if it means one of those above 5 players start over him. When we're starting no name guys like Christian Colon and Matt Davidson over him though, I have a problem. Shogo has hit just as well against lefties and righties in his career so I don't at all agree with platooning him. Hopefully getting Moose and Senzel back will give the team some energy. They've looked dead and disinterested since opening night.
I love Barry the player. Have no interest in Barry as a manager. He's too old school with his approach (ie has openly said he doesn't like analytics) and things would get very ugly if the team doesn't win under him. Do you not remember how ugly the end of his career got? Wouldn't move from ss, bitched about his salary, got stripped of his captaincy, ect. I f/when Bell is fired I want someone who actually has managing experience. I wanted Francona when he became available but the Reds decided to stupidly hang onto Dusty for another year. Also wanted Girardi two years ago instead of hometown guy Bell.
Yeah you’re probably right, he just isn’t really a “sexy” player, doesn’t hit for power, slow, poor defensively. I guess we need guys like Winker just to get on base though if we can get Moose and Suarez hitting for power.
I should have said he did not test positive. On my fantasy lineup he's listed as out due to "COVID" but then in the explanation thing it says..... "Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer says that Votto reported symptoms to the Reds but has not tested positive for COVID-19."
And Bell mismanages another game. Disco cruising at 64 pitches and Bell takes him out. He can’t even manage a bullpen in a 7 inning game.
Not sure I blame bell for Disco. Coming off injury on a shortened and such a quick ready period with Disco health seems like he was on a limits regardless.
64 pitch limit? Disco missed one start, not like he was coming off some long injury. If he went just one more inning then you can bring on Iglesias for the save since they’re only playing 7 innings today. I have zero faith in anyone in the bullpen.
Needed that series win. Still not optimistic that MLB can finish the season but goddamn Gray, Castillo, and Bauer in a playoff series
I don’t disagree about the bullpen. I just doubt disco was was allowed or ready to go many more pitches. All good though they won.
I have a feeling this wasn’t a joke. He was out of his mind tonight when talking to Day after the game. Told Jim that he smells like passion fruit and then started talking about his TikTok withdrawals and HIPAA waivers.
If Bell doesn't take Van Meter and Davidson off the 30man roster when the have to drop to 28 by noon today, I'm not sure what he's doing...........well I still don't, but you get the point.
