and to add what I wrote above, now that we have Chance Tucker and Ryan Barnes in this class, I would rather have Shipley instead of Riley but when Riley committed, we had zero CBs in this class
Your last sentence is spot on. Perhaps the Rees offense will showcase backs more, which in turn will help lure the guys at RB (for example) we covet.
i think Tyree fills a huge need at RB as a homerun hitter/third down type of back. I think he can handle 10 carries a game and 3/4 catches out of the backfield on screens/flares/etc... He won't be a 20 carry guy and that's ok. I'm sure ND could manufacture enough out of the current roster to handle 15/20 carries Did you see what they brought in at CB in 2019? It would be frightening if none of those 3 stars panned out
out of curiousity, which oline class do you think is better (as HS recruits) Kristofic/Olmstead/Correll/Carroll - this was considered a homerun class by Quinn Blake/Spindler/Coogan/Alt I would rank the recruits from those 2 classes as follows: 1. Blake 2. Spindler 3. Carroll 4. Correll 5. Kristofic 6. Alt (has a higher ceiling than 3/4/5 if he can reach it) 7. Coogan 8. Olmstead Looking at it this way, i'd rather have the Blake/Spindler class - it's much more of a sure thing and it has a higher ceiling and I think it's going to end up a great class Adding Tosh and Carmody to this group would make us low on numbers over a 3 classes but the talent would be sky high. If I were adding these 2 to the list above, I'd have Tosh #1 overall and Carmody between Correll and Kristofic That's 3 * star guys(Tosh/Baker/Spindler), 2 high 4 * guys (Carroll/Zeke), 2 solid 4 * guys (Carmody/Kristofic) Alt has round 1 potential and Coogan could be a 4 star guy now that he's grown to 6'5 300+ lbs
think the older class would still be the better but itd be close. Fisher would be my top recruit of the lot though. But id be Fisher, Carroll, Kristofic, Spindler, Correll, Olmstead, Alt Coogan
Pretty much my thoughts on the subject. Braiden McGregor part 2. Expecting a let down On the other hand, looks like we are landing this 3* tomorrow
this guy seemed to be the #1 RB on board after Shipley so I’ll trust Lance on this one Still fucking pissed that ND didn’t take a 2nd rb last year along with a 3rd OL, and any damn LB
Loy posted this yesterday referring to his CB on Spindler: A week away and I don’t have a reason to change it or my confidence either.
Certainly not the same talent level as this comparison, but he reminded me of Travis Etienne on film. Similar build and running style.
I don’t want to laugh at anyone taking the year off due to Covid, but i did chuckle when I saw Eddie Vanderdoes was taking the year off. “Taking care of his grandma” was my first terrible thought
I saw that too and I wanted to post something shitty here but decided against it for karma reasons. Fortunately the twitter comments satisfied me. NFL fans had no idea who he was and ND fans made grandma jokes.
Haven't been following closely. Is the Rocco summary that all ND writers think we're going to get him, all Michigan writers think they're going to get him, and just our current trending / experience with this class means he's gone? Or is there some concrete evidence he's leaning UM that the ND guys are denying?
I wouldn't say Mich writers seem all that confident, who knows let's just say there is a lot more optimism on the ND side than the Mich side and it wasn't like that for McGregor. Loy was already hedging his bet on McGregor when he suddenly decided to announce. Loy was taken off guard by that he was going to announce and that was already a bad sign. Loy has been on top of Rocco's recruitment and I believe he is helping to coordinate it (images/broadcast/etc..) so he's VERY plugged in on what's going on
I did, some of us on here got notified beforehand that he committed to us a couple weeks before his public commitment, that's not the case this year. I've been lurking to see what the sentiment is here because it seems like ND writers are confident, ND Coaches are confident, ND commits are confident but their fans aren't. It's the same on the Michigan side. The writers, coaches, and commits are confident but most of us feel he's going to ND. This one seems truly like a tossup and that's weird for us in state because typically even when a kid drags things out we still know beforehand whether it's going to be us or not. And with him I think everyone is in the dark.
Interesting, thanks. The last time we went into an announcement blind and came out with a commitment was Manti Te'o, so I'm not holding my breath.
Keep the Clemson home game, split FSU/UNC home and away, VT / UVA / Miami / NC State are the no-plays. Seems... pretty favorable?
Also sounds like ND would prefer to keep Navy as the +1, but the ACC won’t allow the game to be played in the state of Maryland.
Also, the dates of each game previously scheduled are off the table. So I wonder if that Clemson game will still take place in November. Diggs also committed. Solid get.
Getting UNC on the road was the toughest game they could have given us I think (ignoring the fact that we turn into little girls when we play in Miami).
ah, there's the fuckery. they will move that game to September to try to get the ratings in before the season gets cancelled. Plus, you know, so Clemson doesn't have to play in the cold.
According to pre-season FPI, of the 4 top teams in the ACC, we avoid one and play the 3 others at home, I'll take it. UNC is fifth. https://www.espn.com/college-football/fpi/_/season/2020/group/1
Interesting. I haven't paid attention on account of the world ending but I thought everyone was high on UNC coming out of last year. So yeah not a bad draw based on that.
Covid is going to rob us of the ability to use this in future internet arguments which is unfortunate.
I don’t have this beauty in my workday often. But today I did track down some email communications from 6 months ago with customer that justified our decision to design something the way we did. I imagine that’s how Matt felt for those 2 minutes.
Loy posted this on Spindler today - he is quite confident this is going to happen so I'm guessing Rocco is already a silent: Notre Dame could use a big win like this and I fully expect the Irish to do exactly that.
nice. now just wait for the crystal balls from random LSU beatwriters and such to roll in so we know the commitment article has been written.
Maybe I’m off here but I’m getting some douchebag vibes from this kid similar to that dipshit G that decommitted and ended up at UCF
One last note on this from Loy about Rocco: I first CB'd Notre Dame for Spindler back on Sept. 30, 2018. I was told flatout that the Fighting Irish led and were going to eventually land him. However, later in the process, I was told he was genuinely torn between both schools, so I went with the flow of the recruitment and after being told it was "50-50" I went foggy. Fast forward and I was close multiple times to picking the Irish again, but wanted to be sure that this would be the final pick I made on Spindler. I went Irish again on March 3, 2020 when I was told by a great source that Notre Dame was the clear frontrunner and the likely landing spot come decision time. I've never backed off my "8" and don't see a reason to at this point. Took a lot of flack for it, but I've felt ND has led for a very long time, and definitely led or was tied since my first pick in 2018. There are a whole lot of rumblings behind the scenes, both positive and negative toward ND, but I'm going to trust my sources on this one and keep things where it's at. I don't see myself changing the pick before he announces.
