This probably is the case in Trump's mind. But it just goes to show you what a dumb fuck he is. The gdp is going to continue to be brought up during this election cycle. It's not going away. What he did today was incredibly unpopular, even amongst some of his staunchest supporters, and didn't help him at all in the short or long term. It's the equivalent of accidentally starting a fire in your house and then responding to it by sticking a shampoo bottle up your own asshole. I mean, yeah, people are going to talk about the shampoo bottle in your ass. But, the house is still on fire.

I don’t know if it was to distract but was more of a “holy fuck, I need more time” because the numbers are so bad. I think we’re giving him way too much credit by acting like it was some sort of “4-D chess” type fakeout. Narcissists operate on a very simple plane. He got bad news for his re-election chances, so he wants to move the election until his chances get better. It’s a quest for immediate gratification, not a carefully thought-out strategy.
I’m concerned about this. For the most part, I think we witnessed in excruciating disappointment that those things didn’t harm trump that much. We are a shitty capitalist country who cares about the stock market more than trump and his cronies selling out American independence. Anything the right does will seem partisan and likely be ignored. If it isn’t misogyny, I’m at a loss for explaining why it helped tank Hillary.
It is so so simple, and the media takes the bait every time because by definition, the president saying something crazy is big news.
