My neighbors did day they were on their back porch about an hour ago and suddenly every bird in the treeline scattered.
Yeah, invasive Burmese python which is devastating the Everglades and south Florida in general. Chalk one up for the good guys here.
Friend of mine just posted this on Facebook. Apparently, this was caught under a home near Nashville. The guy in the pic is a professional snake handler who relocated it.
Really impressive snake. He’s also holding it about 4’ from his body, so it makes it look that much bigger.
Yeah, he’s big boy-ing it a bit, but it’s still quite large. There’s also a video of him holding it, and the snake is quite agitated. Makes the rattles on that thing all the more impressive.
Never handled poisonous snakes. Those devices let him hold the snake farther away than it looks, but it still looks like it could get dicey if the snake moved his head toward the man's right hand. Is there something about those prongs that keeps the snake 'stabilized' in one place? I guess you could move the one closer to his head to limit his reach.
They’re just standard snake hooks. You typically use the hook to support the upper portion of the snake’s body mass in conjunction with using your free hand to “tail” the snake. Snakes can strike approximately one third of their body distance, so he’s fine here. Most snakes are pretty calm when hooked.

Guess that wasn't the one from a day or two ago, found the one from a couple days ago in the drive way. He ran into the garage and my wife went and caught him.
Someone else can start a thread for identifying all other animals. I also don't wanna blow up owsleys notifications in 50 threads trying to identify wildlife.
What kind of snakes are these and are they fighting or having an orgy. Asking for the dog who found them on our stroll.
