Not a bad haul from chrome purchases. Pulled a Robert base and two Robert inserts. Pulled a Verlander Negative refractor. Also pulled a Kyle Lewis prism refractor already sold for $45 (wanted to get it on eBay before others and before he cooled off). Also pulled 3 base Kyle Lewis and an insert. Pulled 3 Lux base and an insert. Only the gallery insert of Alvarez. Hit a couple other rookies like May but nothing else too crazy. Pulled a blue /150 refractor of Tommy Edmond. Also be careful opening, hits aren't flipped around. I pulled one auto and didn't realize it until sorting later because I was just looking at player names as I was opening and if it was a name I didn't care about I moved on. The auto is of Randy Arrozarena.
Not even going to try, pretty sure there are a few guys who know the suppliers route and just follow him and wipe it out.
There’s one guy here locally that I’ve seen a few times when I’ve happened to stop at a target during the standard “restock time”(thurs/Friday lunchtime). Whenever there’s a decent sized shipment he almost always just gets the box straight from the vendor as he’s always there right when the vendor walks out. He’s shared some with me but it still drives me crazy he does that
Yep, I even went ahead and bought some blasters last night off eBay and got 5 of them for $33 a piece cause I can only see them rise in price over the next few weeks
Went to target looking for chrome, they didn't have any but were stocked with Chronicles. I got a mega and a blaster. I beat the mob by seconds as soon as I grabbed the mega box like 5 guys showed up together and cleared the shelves. Unsure if I'll open them or sell them
Next time take them off the shelves leave a note saying they cards have been hid randomly throughout the store good luck.
Made $355 flipping those chronicle boxes. Going to lcs to buy hobby jumbo box of chrome basically for free on that profit
Damn, I don't know if I could have done worse on my hits. Luckily playing with house money makes it a little easier to take. My autos were Adbert Alzolay, Willi Castro, Seth Brown, Zack Collins and a blue /150 Joe Palumbo. My color card was a blue /75 Miles Mikolas and my negative refractor was Josh Hader.... At least I pulled a Robert base, Lux base and Freshman flash, Kyle Lewis base and Freshman flash, Yordan base, refractor and 35th anniversary. A few other ok cards but nothing great.
I see a ton of Lebron reprint topps cards on eBay. How the hell can you tell a difference between that and the real one?
Opening my box of Topps Chrome and I think I got the case hit. Should be a bonus on top of my two autos which is awesome considering my first auto was Michael King for the Yankees
I see you on Twitter. went on a little bit of a spending spree today. I have 7 blasters and 8 cello packs coming this week. I kind of want to wait to rip it all at once but don’t know if I have the patience to wait till it all shows up.
I was in a random team case break last night that hit that card for Acuña and also hit the RC auto for Trout. I had the phils unfortunately.
If it's not it's one of the next best. That's a ridiculously good pic of it, doesn't look like it's in a case.
Going to be really tough to do from a stock photo. But the easiest way to prevent buying a reprint is to only buy from sellers with good/a lot of feedback. Also avoid sellers that don't offer returns. Usually on the fakes the colors are off and font is distorted. You can try to compare to a legit (graded) version of the card and if you think anything seems off just steer clear. I've seen plenty of fake Curry, LeBron, Harden Topps stuff so they stick out like a sore thumb at this point. Edit: I see you're mostly just talking about the reprints. Sadly, they look identical to the original so it would be near impossible to spot from a photo. I've read that the foil hits differently in light on a real one. Buying a graded one might be the only true way to know.
Reprints have some variation to the number on the card. So if the card is #23 of the set, the reprint is usually something like R23. If it's a reprint in a later year, that is somewhere on the back of the card as well.
I think reprint is the wrong word to use. A true reprint would definitely be identified as a reprint. Most of these are just flat out counterfeits that they market as reprints.
Just sent 14 cards off for grading. Not sure what to expect but I’m hoping for a couple gem mints, a handful of mints and the rest whatever
Good luck! Mine are all from digging through boxes. Potentially most valuable card is a Lebron second year topps which I have 2. Are yours newer or older cards?
My 160-card PSA bulk order came back yesterday. I sent it off late-January so there are some big cards in there that have gone up a ton since. Lots of Tatis stuff
Newer stuff. I didn't do a great job at caring for my childhood cards so I don't think there's much value in sending them in honestly. It's nothing wild right now that would return huge money, mostly stuff that may have future value(Robert series 2, Yordan Alvarez Bazooka back RC, Luis Patino refractor auto RC, etc) I'm not too sure yet on how I'm going to treat grading. I enjoy ripping packs to find cool cards more than "investing" per se. So I'd rather sell a card raw to make back some of the money I spent, and then buy more PC/wax. So I'm not likely to send in 10 Robert s2 to then sell down the road. More send stuff in to have it in a nice case, with a *hopefully* good grade, and then hold it in case there's a rainy day in the future.
Cha Ching. Patiently waiting on two grading orders to come back now. Got an SGC order back the other day with a 10 rated 1997 Topps Kobe Bryant . That card has skyrocketed, probably will hold looking at prices of Lebron, MJ 2 year stuff
Yea. I know I have at least 2-3 topps Lebron and a few UD MVPs. Can’t have my parents mail them to me because I don’t know exactly where they are but I also don’t want to drive 9 hours to get them and not even be able to see my parents
I have a MVP LeBron and the Topps collection one. Prices have more than tripled since April. I want to send them in for grading, but I interviewed for a new job and would have to move if I took it. PSA won't let you change delivery address on submissions so I'm scared to send something in and it take months and I move in the interim
I sent mine to KK sports cards from Instagram. They do bulk 500 card submissions and are probably more flexible than directly with PSA.
My only concern was grading unnumbered cards and having someone possibly mixing up or swapping out a lower graded version than mine but they said they submit them in a specific order to PSA and they are sent back in the same order. Just have to have blind faith sometimes.
Yeah I do a lot of research on the submitters I used. I just trust they have been doing this a while and have the process down
Potentially just to the other side of Michigan, wife and I think Grand Haven area would be a better place to raise a family, and we've always wanted to live on or near a lake
If anyone finds any Chrome retail that they’d be willing to sell me at/close to cost, I’d love to get a few. Let me know.
