the literal first fight because i dont know what ro do when they buff themselves or how to prevent it
You're about to head towards the hardest portion of the entire game. The trudge from the first Baldur fight till you get you first weapon upgrade in GmGoW is the absolute hardest part of the game, until the final secret boss.
i got past a pit of draugr, got to a bit with a blue guy then a revanant + others and thought "ok thats enough for today"
like 3 after i thought to kill the first purple bar before the second wave spawned. easily 20 before that. there was a lot of hitting L2 to parry for some reason.
20 ish attempts isn't bad. iirc you can't parry the second wave's attacks on GmGow difficulty with a fresh char.
the parry timing on the bigger guys seems to be much tighter but still possible. sometimes i parry it, sometimes they stagger be out of a block.
Started a new game on give me a challenge, ran through the first couple of hours and game felt too easy and didn't want to deal with the clutter of the save files so I straight up deleted everything from system storage, redownloaded the game to start a fresh GMGoW run with no backup saves.
Made it through the dragur pit and got to Brok in about 45 mins before I called it a night, wasn't nearly as harsh as I remembered the first time going through it when I still sucked at the combat.
Finished the fresh GMGoW and ran through GMGoW on NG+ and beat Sigrun on it, she learns so many new moves in NG+ its like an entirely different fight from normal. Pretty fun addition.
When I played this I didn’t really understand the whole platinum trophy thing and didn’t get it. I just got the 100% completion and was like cool I’m done. Apparently all I needed was two sets of armor and like six treasure maps completed. Just spent an hour and a half getting my plat trophy.
Just finished last night the main story. Theres no way I had full appreciation for the game as I don't have as much time to play (so I mostly stay on track) but also because I took a long break where I didn't play it for a few months after starting. This is not the type of game you quickly pick back up between the Mythology, remembering your combat skills, etc. So I didn't do the best of service to the game. That said, the father/son aspect had me the whole way. Love how he says "son" at the very end scene. The characters all mattered and were voiced beautifully. The game just looks amazing. If you're not into or knowledgeable of Norse mythology, I could see where it's just really overwhelming though. But that can be said of the other GOW games if you didn't have at least a working understanding of the mythology it was based on. But the depth and emotional execution of the story is absolutely top notch stuff. Once I got the Blades back though I had zero interest in that axe anymore. I know you needed it but I just didn't want to have to use it anymore. The blades are just so much more fun and satisfying.
On my second play through I made it a point to use the axe more. My first go around I was all blades once I got them other than freezing locks and stuff.
I love both weapons but the marriage of the two and the ballet between them as you become more adept was one of the most satisfying VG combat experiences of my life. So fucking good switching between the two fluidly and violently
I think that’s what’s so great about the game.. the narrative manages to find a balance between the power fantasy and the just the flat out wonder of the fantasy that’s unfolding in front of you by allowing you to play as Kratos and experiencing the curiosity and excitement of Atreus going on his first grand adventure.. the weight of the journey, the power of the father son dynamic really brought it all in on an emotional level for me.. I’d be just fine if all I we’re giving was a switchblade and a snow cone to kill draugrs with just to experience that story. Lucky for me I also got to play one of the funnest games I ever played..
This guy is hands down the best GoW player I've seen, the things you can pull off w/ the combat system in this game is pretty insane.
I got the platinum trophy and 100% on that game and he’s doing things I didn’t even know you could do.
He gave a detailed breakdown for the craziest combo i've ever seen where you pretty much break the game and display a visual glitch with both the Axe and Blades equipped, with step by step instructions and I still didn't understand wtf was happening
You can just take my platinum trophy back. Holy shit I am so bad at this game compared to what I just watched.
Glad I waited in this. Was going to play during quarantine; but will wait for PS5 for my first play through
