Pronman says his sources believe we are leaning towards Perfetti and also Pronman is listing him as a C. I’m still skeptical about any rumors since Yzerman is so tight lipped, but I am personally leaning towards Perfetti as my choice (assuming the top 3 is chalk)
It’s such a drop from the top 3 to 4, yet it more or less to speaks how great the top 3 are as opposed to us not being able to get an all star caliber player at 4.
I hope someone falls in love with someone in the 4-9 bracket and is dumb enough to waste assets to trade up.
With this MAF situation looking super ugly in Vegas, we should do whatever we can to convince him to come here. Vegas would probably give up a lot to move that deal.
You think Vegas might be willing to do a bad contract swap for Nielsen? Or would they rather dump picks to get rid of him and save the cap space.
They might do a contract swap but I think they want to stay flexible because they can still make hockey trades with the room they would save.
People tend to think that teams will be willing to give up top picks for cap space. Like we did with datsyuk.
Because 1) they would give us assets to eat his contract, which we have cap space and won't be competitive probably the rest of the contract Or 2) possibly flip bad contracts with them and eat a couple extra mil for short term to maybe get Abby contract which is a year longer off our books If neither of those things happen in the trade, then you don't do it
1) To try to get closer to mediocre? I’m still cool with bottoming out. 2) I doubt anyone is taking Abby’s contract.
All about assets. His contract should net you a first round pick but you gotta’ convince him to waive his NMC. That part seems unlikely.
I wouldn’t anticipate MAF playing much if we did land him. He probably spends half his remaining deal on LTIR.
It's not about improving the team with MAF, it's about getting assets to take on a bad contract with our cap room....
Also, I think I am still on team Perfetti but I do waffle a bit with Raymond. Raymond has already begun his season in the SHL, so it’s possible he goes on a tear and could prove to teams that he is even a top 3 pick. I’m not banking on that, but he could cement the 4 spot in that time.
Sanderson will be the best D in this draft if his offensive surge to end the year was legit. I’m not sure about it though.
Sens D would be swell on the left side with he and Chabot. Too many holes to fill... need a first line C and RW as well.
Am I wrong to believe the batting average on big money goalie deals is pretty low? Seems like a lot of them end up being awful, unmovable deals.
It is low, and honestly, where we are at in our rebuild, Markstrom will probably be league average at best by the time we are legitimately competitive.
I’d rather make a play for Georgiev. We do need a goalie of the future, and it’s time to start addressing it.
If we make a play at Markstrom and keep it under 6 mil a season, you better go after Krug as well to speed up the timeline. Still not a fan but it makes more sense that way.
This. It depends on the years. But we need someone in net for a while until we have a goalie develop. That is a low price, especially with all the cap space
