I've read about Mexico's situation, it's awful. There's probably a 50/50 chance -- if we're being generous -- that everything improves and I'm able to travel.

Just getting high and shitposting my travel musings. But you are correct -- didn't know they basically stopped testing.

As someone who has driven across the country and back twice, that is one hell of a drive. Basically the entire circumference of the country, what, 10,000 miles?

    hopefully you drive a hybrid.

as for my hypothetical, I chose the times because those are my two personal limits. Anything over 6 hours driving I begin to really hate, anything over 10 hours flying I can’t deal. Personally I think I’d rather drive. True crime podcasts the whole way have been a game changer the last year or two since adnan sayed.

    50/50 is probably pretty optimistic

Told my wife this week thst we picked a perfect year to have a kid and not be able to travel. I don't think travel is really an option until therr is a vaccine

As much as I love to travel and think it’s the best thing ever, I’m kinda with you especially since we have a 10 month old.....not really feeling it till their is a vaccine, unless I’m forced to travel for work which seems unlikely anytime in 2020

same boat. I’ve been out of the country at least once a year since 2006, and with a 3.5 month old we weren’t going to be able to go anywhere this year anyways. Looking at some toddler friendly trips hopefully next summer. Thinking Scotland as we can rent a car and drive around for a couple weeks without having to be on much of a schedule or having to pack up and fly around.

We're looking at the same. We've got a five month old and are planning a week in Ireland, a week in England, and two weeks in Scotland for next summer. We've already been to Isle of Skye in Scotland but loved it so much we want to spend a couple weeks driving through the highlands.

I may hit you up for Skye recommendations when it gets closer. I did a big golf trip to Scotland where we played 18-36 every day but didn’t see much else so this trip will be less golf focused although I’d like to play once or twice. our tentative itinerary would be Glasgow, Glencoe area, Uist (want to play askernash), skye, speyside, st andrews, edinburgh. spend 2-3 nights in each place.

Not sure when you're planning on going but be aware that Skye can seriously get overcrowded in the summer. We went in late September last time and our hosts said that was better as during the peak times in July and August it can be ridiculously difficult to get around the island since many of the roads are one lane. Not one lane both ways but just one lane with pulloffs to let cars coming the other way pass you. So we're currently planning to be in Scotland in May or if it's not open by that point pushing our trip to September.

Same dude who wrote stories in March and May about how the virus wasn’t a big deal. I get that they are all shills to an extent but he’s singularly awful.

I mean this is clearly parody, right?

I got back yesterday from a few days south of the border. Bounced around the northern coast of Baja. Mask usage was higher than here in California. People regularly wearing masks when sitting/standing/walking outside, not just while inside.

Every restaurant we went to took our temperature, provided hand sanitizer, and had a mat with a cleaning solution for your shoes. My friend who returned from Tulum three days ago said it was the same there. Obviously Mexico is a huge country and this may not be the same everywhere. However, it seems they're at least trying to prevent the spread.

Like I could drive 6 hours to London or fly 10 hours there?

I'm probably driving regardless because I enjoy driving and saving 4 hours is an added bonus.

Plus depending on where I go, I either have my car to explore with or can just leave it and take public transportation if it's easier for that city.

So after some more research for our 10 yr anniversary trip to Europe next summer (assuming we can travel there by then), Edinburgh and London are certainties.

After that, it's coming down to Amsterdam, Paris, or Barcelona. I'm thinking we could do 2 of 3. Open to input.

Weed and hookers are nonfactors for us in regards to Amsterdam, so take that in to account.

    Chicago recs?

Finished our drive up the west coast (California, Oregon, Washington).

Wasn’t allowed to access Neah Bay due to fucking goat removal but we were able to do everything else.

Spent 4 days in Jackson Hole/Montana, now heading to Chicago.

Haven’t had time to go through photos, etc yet but we’re definitely coming back to Jackson Hole on the way back from Florida. One of my favorite trips in a while. Then we’re driving to Alaska.

MLS is handling that so I’m not sure but I believe we were going to leave our car at a friends house in Washington, boat over, and rent an SUV once in Alaska.

Her current vehicle is very much so not ready for an Alaska excursion of any kind.

Americans are allowed in to drive to Alaska but some have been caught straying from that path.

There is an exception for Americans driving to Alaska. Enough assholes were exploiting that to go to Banff so the Canadians now throw a sticker on your car at the border and if they find your car not making progress towards Alaska you get hit with a Quarantine Act violation.

Weather is literally perfect there - not sure the exact temperature but we got in the water throughout the trip. Going back as soon as we finish the east coast trips.
