I shouldn't be, but I am a bit surprised at how silent the NCAA has been about this. Seems like canceling some seasons but not others is going to cause a logistical hellscape for the entirety of college sports. Guess it further shows how toothless they actually are.
It makes sense when you accept the premise that the sole purpose of the NCAA was to make sure players didn't make any money
I find it to be VERY disturbing that we have one group of adults who understand the long term affects this thing could have on kids and are actively attempting to protect them (Not really they're just protecting themselves from liability but whatever) and another group who 100% doesn't give a fuck. Like what kind of hellish landscape are we living in that this is even a debate?
You want me to believe you guys care SO much more about the players than I do, because covid, but CTE, heat strokes and broken necks are all good in your eyes, so it just doesn’t work. Y’all are all talk.
Just like a hospital. All of those things happened, and then we went with the mask and test strategy to open back up, and somehow all of those jobs are back. Crazy how that worked out.
All of what jobs are back? Do you live on some kind different planet from the rest of us where there's competent leadership. Like if ur posting from a different dimension every post you made makes sense.
1899 Sewanee Tigers With just 13 players, the team known as the "Iron Men" had a six-day road trip with five shutout wins over Texas A&M, Texas, Tulane, LSU, and Ole Miss.
Nah, you're just such a smooth brain that you think you can compare any two things that have jobs in them.
Up to 5 days. Good thing they plan to test every 3-4 days, which is far beyond what it is like in the real world.
Hey, marketing assistant, I know you just lost your job, but don't worry because the nursing staff was hired back at the hospital across town!
The jobs that were furloughed. Can’t keep all of the employees around without the funds, be it a large hospital or a large university. The test and mask plan works if the goal is to open back up, which gets the funds needed to run a large operation.
I definitely see this angle and understand where you're coming, but this isn't binary. They're playing probabilities associated with risk (also, it's all just a cover for preserving the amateurism model anyhow).
Last time I checked our unemployment rate was still double digits, and some major airlines are starting to furlough their pilots. Like I said, I think you just live in a different universe where Trump never became President, and honestly congrats on not having to live in hellworld like the rest of us. Guys, posting on TMB allows us to communicate with different dimensions. This is fucking crazy guys.
I work in a large hospital, which is in the same universe. I took a 10% pay cut, others were furloughed. All of that has been reinstated and without worst fears realized due to a working protocol to mask and test.
So What's it like in the Clinton became president universe? You guys probably only report about 5-10's deaths per day now. I'm assuming you guys are gearing up for fall sports without too much worry of COVID right?
The mental gymnastics of people saying people played baseball all summer so football will be fine is confusing to say the least. here in Michigan the high school fall sports won’t make a decision on competition until 8/20, 7 days before scheduled first game. If they play will be the only football played ij the state I believe outside of Pro.
Also, lot easier to postpone practices and quarantine than it is to move around/alter the schedule due to such a thing. You can also stagger the 20 hours among your team to minimize heavy interaction, at least until you get into more formal practice sessions.
Just to know the makeup, Cherokee county went 73%-23% Trump to Clinton in 2016 so you know what kind of Exurb Atlanta redneck shitheads live there.
Did anyone watch Hard Knocks? The shit the NFL has in place for protocols is insane, something colleges could only dream about, and it still all boils down to whether or not the players will be on their best behavior. And colleges have double the roster.
