I know you were talking about cards, but I may have a couple bud light cups I got from the Superbowl I could send you ...If they weren't thrown out. I'll follow up when I get home. Not sure if you'd even want that, but i thought they were pretty cool and I'm a Dolphins fan. They don't say Chiefs on them or anything though.
Was going to send the bulk of my Skubals in to get graded , but looks like I may have to sell them now that he got the call
Topps update is going to be a must buy for Tigers fans. 3 of their top 6 prospects just got called up and they are doing a prospect set that includes every teams top prospect. Good shot 4 of their top 6 prospects will have cards in that set. That and bowman draft (Torkelson bowman 1st), im going to need to save some money up for the fall/winter releases
I never posted what I got when I bought Skubal in the 110 caser. Ended up with 450 chrome base , 10 atomics , 10 Color. Ended up with 29 autos.
I'm going to miss some not getting them graded. A bgs 9.5 gold went for $500 this morning. I've got 2 of them that are very clean
I'll probably sell my multiples and colors I don't like now (yellow, green, purple). And send in others. I'll put one gold up and see if I get a bite before I send to to JRodMK1
So I've been able to pluck a lot of the Staumont auto's so far. Down to ~5, but unfortunately most of those 5 are the toughest ones to find lol
Went to local card show by the way today, guy only had the value packs of chrome and the 5 auto box he was charging $400 for. No blasters today. Got another box of bowman just for hell of it and my wife actually likes opening cards with me so I I'm going to keep doing it when I have approval lol. My streak of Bowman hits on not great players continues. Pulled a yellow /75 chrome auto, but it was Adam Hill. He isn't even a top 20 prospect for Brewers
Got a notification that my two hobby boxes of Certified football have shipped, should have in hand Saturday. Still debating on ripping or selling. Probably wait and see what the box goes for on eBay. Really wish I would have bought a bunch of mosaic, I see they are going for 700 a hobby box. Could have easily made a few grand.
I'm back for a second interview and staying at the same hotel as last time with the card store next to it. They had all their blasters way jacked up in price. I did buy one pack of the bowman Sterling because I haven't seen that set yet and has a guarantee auto, so for $60 it was better to me than paying the $40 they were charging for blasters. My auto wasn't great, Kyren Paris, but there was a base Luis Robert in there. I'm starting to have a crazy Luis Robert collection. Can't pull any of his autos, but I think I now have 11 of his base Topps rookies, 2 of his chrome, both chrome inserts (two of the 35 year one), his 2030 insert, his other series 2 insert, a crap ton of bowman rookies, 2 gypsy rookies, now a bowman Sterling rookie. Also have all three variations of his /49 5 x 7 for Topps and 2 of the 3 gold /10 versions of the 5 x 7 (sp and ssp). Also have his chrome bowman first. I hope he can become the next trout
When I get some time, I'll probably take a closer look at them all and sell what doesn't look like a 10 and send others in for grading
Glad I started my Tigers first round picks signed bowman first collection before Mize got called up. Bought a PSA 10 auto for $160 or so three months ago. Selling for $349 today and unsigned ones sold for $145. If any of you have Mize, may be a good time to sell. Pitchers stuff doesnt have upside of hitters. If it wasn't part of a personal collection, I would be flipping Mize right now.
My brother hit the mother load. Found a walmart where the vendor was just finishing up a restock. Dude got like 12 hangers of NBA Chronicles, 3 blasters, shit ton of chrome, and some archives.
I'm in the middle of a 20 tweet debate with some clown who's responding to tweets of people selling Chronicles shaming them. He's tried telling me that the sellers are preying on buyers/scamming them and i'm just mind blown.
My only issue is when hobby shops buy/sell retail. You’re a hobby shop, you have exclusive access to hobby. Leave the retail to retail.
Topps now card are pretty worthless aren't they? See they have some auto sp for Mize debut but price seems high for Topps now
Also for reasons listed earlier, sell what you can while value is high. 600 different zion cards screams overprint. Hello 90s all over again
I could be off but I feel like Panini/NBA may have issues. I primarily collect baseball and don’t feel there’s much overprint
I think peoples hate for the resale is probably more misplaced than anything. I get people selling blasters for $10-15 more the retail and I’ve paid that just to rip some. I think what chaps most people is that a vendor comes in and restocks and it seems more than 50% of the time the good stuff is being sold out the back before it even hots the shelf, that or they only restock once and then you don’t see it again. I understand that if you make more it decreases the value. What I would like to see them do is make more retail but decrease the amount of rookies or autos in said retail packs. You can still put them in there but maybe I instead of pulling a Luis Robert pink parallel in 1 of 75 packs you make it 1 outa 125. Then you can change that in the hobby boxes from 1 in 50 to like 1-25. I know that won’t solve anything but maybe that way people will be a little more hesitant to clean out stores of retail cause the average collector is less likely to pay the premium.
What do you mean? With concerts everyone gets the same show, some just get to watch it closer. Or do you mean with Bots snatching everything up. That’s the easiest fix of all. You screen out the bots. If topps or panini would just ban bots you wouldn’t see near the complaints. I have no problem with people paying a premium for hobby cause at least there you know your getting Autos or more rare content.
If it’s the same person over and over, then yea I can understand. But my brother ran into a fresh restock, first time he’s seen retail in months, so he swooped a lot of it. He’s flipping the chronicles because at the prices it’s going for you'd be crazy not to consider it. And is planning to rip almost all the chrome he found. I just don’t get the hate for it when every LCS bumps prices ridiculously.
I figured out that the guys who are emptying out retail stores around town are the guys doing the card shows. The one time I found chronicals in store five guys showed up after me and bought rest. Seem three of them at booths in the card show this week. Even heard them complaining about stockers hiding stuff for other people and waiting in lines for stocker to show up. It's a joke, those guys are pathetic.
I get that and that’s fine with me and probably most people but like you said when it’s the same guy following that vendor every week that sucks. If they wouldn’t do that maybe when normal collectors wouldn’t follow suit. Heck I even did it once, went to a Walmart and they had 3 mega boxes and 8 blasters of 2020 prizm baseball. I snatched them all up cause I knew I probably wouldn’t see cards for another few weeks. It just sucks cause I would like to stop and just grab a few blasters every week or so. The one thing that makes me feel better about paying a premium is I figure a price I’m willing to pay and don’t go over it, takes some of the sting out.
Something needs to change with the retail market. Unfortunately the restockers don’t care if one person buys everything. I check Target every time I go but there’s never anything. If there was I’d buy everything I could. If Panini can control the price they should control the quantity people can buy or they’re going to drive out collectors. One retail box per person per day seems reasonable. Make it where it’s a behind the counter type product where you have to go to customer service to buy it.
Anyone want to talk old cards!? Was at my folks for dinner and grabbed some of my boxes of the stuff in the hard cases. I know what I don't have. But I do have some solid stuff. I know a lot of my 90's era stuff ain't worth shit since I didn't have the gems that were out of my price range as a youth. Anyways, I came across this AAA Pedro card. Remembered how I got it. Visiting my Dads Vietnam war buddy in California in the late 90's. He was a collector of some sort. Had all the cards of the recent era. Had said I could have any card. But I just couldn't pick. Had to pick a few. He'd randomly select one blindly. Ended up with the AAA Pedro card over the '93 SP Jeter and some other '92 Bowman rookies. What a time to be alive.
Saw a gold sold for $600 this week, and there’s currently an Orange that has an auction ending tomorrow. This kid....
Just sent 7 cards to get graded Austin Riley Auto Saphire Luis Urias gold /50 Kendall auto RC /150 Adell /200 Riley Green Auto Chris Paddack auto green was a redemption from topps so that one should grade high Nolan Gorman Sapphire /50
Got into 3 case breaks of 2020 Certified yesterday. $75 total for the Falcons. Got a Julio /99, a Gurley short print, and a Matt Ryan Mirror Auto /3 among others.
