It’s so fucking good. You and I are the same with Fifa, imagine how fucking good that game could be with even 50% of this content. I’d never play another game ever. I will definitely slow down on this but I’ll play this until next season easily. Also I think last time I played a MLB game was maybe 14 or 15 years ago. I remember the fun in that game was drafting a team, then that was about it once I couldn’t grind more than 40 games.
Also @bwi got trout today. I knew he earned a ton of stubs but he also has a shit ton of XP. Got me my 2x high diamonds which for me was Sandberg and the Red I never see anyone use ever. Still did not use trout but plan to tomorrow. For the vets here, do I still need to worry about prestige? I have one player prestige at this point, asking for future collections or if anything is remaining that you think may be on the horizon.
The content on The Show is fantastic but I probably still prefer 2k bc of the team aspect. We play 3v3 and make team decisions on the fly. Im the C, so if the other team is doing pick and roll with C/PG and the 2 guard is in the corner then we can quickly make a switch and I'll take the corner guy and my 2 Guard teammates play the pick and roll. Same type adjustments on offense. So yea the teammate aspect makes it more fun for me. But if my 2 teammates aren't on, I play The Show bc playing with randoms is miserable on 2k. The game itself and the content provided are much better on The Show but the teammate and human interaction is something The Show just doesn't have.
Thanks and great breakdown. Something I prefer is no human interaction. I play the game without sound, so seeing you say it’s miserable solo is fantastic for me because that’s all I’d play.
Haha no, meant playing a 3v3 game with 2 random people you've never played with sucks. One of them is probably going to want to take every shot, contested or not. The other will call him a cocksucker and then neither have any desire to play D. It's just terrible. I hate playing the computer in any game so thats not something I'll do. On 2k, when you play online, you have several options. You can create a player and build him up. You can do that by playing cpu games or going to "The Park" where there's 3v3 and 2v2 courts. As you rep up, your player gets better. They offer a lot of clothing customization like shoes and outfits. Park is by far my favorite mode. They also have a My Team mode which is just like DD on The Show. You control all 5 players and you play a human controlling his 5. They have current and past players and release new players all year. I don't play this mode bc i like having teammates.
Yeah I’d be interested in the second mode for sure, teammates I’m definitely out on. Also typically that game comes out pretty soon correct?
dblplay1212 so I pick up a battle royale I still had going. Guess who I just homered with? Fletcher, lol. Lost the game though.
Late to the party on discussing other sports games, but my friend and I just had a similar conversation. IMO The Show is the best game if you want to play by yourself, between RTTS offline and DD online its great. Love how you can build a good team with no money spent if you don’t want, which seems to be different from the EA/2K games I’ve played with a similar mode. That said, I do kind of miss playing online with my friends which I normally do with either NHL or 2K. I probably prefer NHL’s model because of the team customization plus the fact you don’t have to unlock/pay for attributes to make the game playable. NBA is fun for sure, and I like the MyPlayer/ProAm stuff, but it kind of pisses me off how you have to spend like another 50+ dollars on VC to make your guy even useable online. But like dblplay1212 said it’s fun to play with teammates/people you know or play with all the time etc and use your created guys
theres so many more rewards than when I stopped playing in may. I've played for like 5 hours since yesterday and unlocked 5 or 6 90+s for basically nothing
Just got to level 80. Kluber seems to be the best of the bunch but pitchers are boring, I kind of want this 99 speed, 99 baserunning Rickey Henderson.
He was the last I took from that batch. Not sure if Reggie is in that one but he’s the best of the lot outside pitching.
He's in the level 1 silver pack but I'll probably take Buster bronze 80 is kluber, rickey henderson, newhouser, mccovey, fingers
Henderson is a pinch runner. Wouldn’t use him otherwise (I do think he fits in as the 5th on a 2 LHB/2 RHB bench). Kluber isn’t what he was a couple of months ago in the meta, but he’s still a top 5 pitcher.
I ended up taking Kluber because I'm a follower My top 3 pitchers were all gotten in the past 24 hours: Kluber, 97 Greinke, 97 Bieber
Also finally got around to making a backup squad with guys who aren't as good but who I like playing with. Should have done this ages ago
Because of all the BS surrounding that Tatis GS they made his FOF card a 99 for 48 hours. If you have it, use it, the thing is fucking incredible. Just played first game with him and went 3/4 with 2 HR and a 2B.
Alright, weekly investment time if anyone gives a shit. Definitely going gold. Brandon Lowe (high now, but could see him breaching diamond territory eventually) Santander could not believe he didnt move last week but the fucker rakes. Fringe Gold: Ian Happ very affordable still, fantastic numbers. I thought he had a chance last week. Definitely going silver have better numbers than gold players. Pedro Severino Renato Nunez Kyle Lewis Dominic Smith (for being a Met I cannot believe how cheap he is right now) Dylan Cease (Fringe but he should get a bump, at least cheap TA if nothing else) Two RP Rosenthal (got this from Sporer) developed a pitch and should have the ability to accumulate stats. Montero Texas (Penny stock pick, but closing and not given up a run. RP are weird and I love them.)
Didn't last long, I'm back to zone. The changing of difficulties seems to keep messing me up. Everytime I feel like I have a handle on all-star, once I dip back down to veteran for some moments/conquest, going back to all-star feels crazy hard again. This Babe Ruth challenge might be just what I need, I know I won't ever complete it but winning 25 games on all-star to get Longoria and Hoffman is doable.
Also, is there no SBMM for events? Every events game matches me up with some prestige who just toys with me.
I don't think I can beat the cpu on hall of fame lol, could probably get lucky with a 3 inning game but not sure on 6 innings
Last guy I played was using the Angels starting 9. Quick pitches being on is definitely a great way to grind out innings for TA, I might do some of that later. 6 inning games with quick pitches take like 10-15 minutes
Believe it or not Showdown is what really helped me hit. Just track pitches, work the counts and most important thing in the game is sitting middle. I was batting like .063 on pitches down the middle before that because I always fucked with the PCI placement. If you do attempt some showdown NL central stage one has Hader who you can run him empty on energy every time. He just sails them down the middle after that. Only has two pitches as well so it will be good for your timing. 6th inning is manageable too because it’s a Brave without crazy velo. It’s just sit on pitches until two strikes or down the middle. Sounds simple in execution but takes a bit of time. Another item that helped me was sitting dead straight on the TV. All the sudden I could see angles on pitches. I’m still not good but I can compete now.
I finally got the Award Trout over the weekend and while I didn't know who he'd replace in my lineup, the card is legit. Maybe not worth it if you're starting from scratch but after honus last year I'd been stashing some cards here and there so really I just bought prospects, HR derby, and then topps now cards to finish him off. Not only does he rake, he has a cannon: Also, #pitcherswhorake
I’ve got a few hits with him that I had no business even connecting with the ball. Like regular swing on outside of the zone and base hit. Lol. He’s also far an away the best CF in the game. His lines to the ball are perfect and he’s zero to full speed in like 2 steps. Robs so many gaps fly outs or turns easy doubles are singles.
two tips, somewhat exclusive but each can help: CPU pitchers throw a shitload of balls at HOF. They will walk the bases loaded and walk runs in. Be super patient. If you have a fast guy leading off, bunt, steal, steal, and then worst case you’ve got a runner on third, 0 outs, 0-2. You will steal 100% of bases with runners with speed or steal over 80 if you hold down R2 when the pitcher checks the runner after coming to a set position, hit L1 twice, then release.
Absolutely. I can think of twice I've been late on an outside pitch that would normally be a dribbler or pop up to the right side but he crushes it for an opposite field home run.
It’s an old glitch that somehow made its way back into the game with the most recent update. Hit R2 too soon and you will get thrown out like a nincompoop - better to miss a steal opportunity than be early.
every single event game I face a prestige. I'm still bronze I almost lucked into a win just now, he was mashing everything to the warning track and I struck out every AB except for like 2. Hit a 2 run homer with JD martinez to take a 2-1 lead top 6... he follows with a walk off castellanos homer. I'm racking up the TA innings in the event games but HOF difficulty vs paxton everytime is hopeless for me. I don't even have time to move my pci out of the center
I don’t think you’ll face many non diamond or prestige guys at this point. Don’t worry if they are playing you, they’re garbage. I play bronze and silver all the time and get my ass wiped. I’ve also wiped some diamond and prestige as a bronze/silver. There’s a way to manipulate XP in the game if you have the time and desire.
I’ve gotta figure out a way to be less jerky with the pci. I feel like i barely move it down and the little pitch feedback shows it all the way to the bottom
new Lester card looks good and the program to get him is super easy. tried showdown again for the first time in a few months. walter johnson wrecked me
LOL that's why I told you last inning. I beat like 5/7 of them, took quite a while. Long story short I did my initial Walter Johnson one and there is no way I can beat that. By the time by brain processes where the pitch is going and I swing I am way late. Try sixth inning, significantly lower velo.
Unlocked Lester & Longoria. Realizing now that the live series players are kind of worthless at this point, no? I now have 2 better 3B on my team than Arenado, the highest ratest live IF in the game.
Useless in ranked seasons, but sometimes events have weird eligibility rules where LS players play. Also need them for the Biggio/Sheffield/Mantle trio. Can confirm that getting those guys does not make you a better hitter.
I hit better with Live Series Trout than with Mantle. I think the top 3 cards in the game are Awards Trout, live series Trout and the Mantle. Again just my opinion.
I had somehow ripped off 8 in a row in the last Event but played it sparingly. I always forget they reset.
