I’m a bit surprised he didn’t try and go on loan for one more season. I think he would have had a solid chance of being the England number 1 in the euros next year if he played all season. Good move for United though. Reminds me of cech and courtois battling it out.
mom I thought I read somewhere that they wanted to keep both and have them battle it out but a loan makes more sense.
United brass aren’t as cool on De Gea as the public (unfairly) is. I assume they told Dean he will get the chance to win the spot next season but for now De Gea is #1 still
United locked him down with a bumper contract and higher wages to reward him (fairly) for his services. He may or may not go out on loan this season, but I believe he will have the chance to deseat de Gea for this upcoming season, but I don't rate as likely.
Looks like it's close to being done. Seems like him starting with McTominay as first choice backup is a better strategy and upgrade to the lineup.
Appears to be a good price for a player with a ton of years to go in his prime. Rumors Real were interested before the virus hit, he played very well this season and in their CL runs the last two years.
Avoiding the English tax on this one is a good thing to me. I'll take anyone out of the Ajax system. Pogba sticking around is big in this situation. Allows VdB to adjust to the league and gain chemistry with Bruno/Pogba at a nice pace. With the fixture congestion next season, it will be great not to have to run him into the ground like Bruno. Now just pay up for Sancho already, and grab a CB and maybe a backup striker too. Spoiler Another left back wouldn't be the worst idea either imo but I'm not a greedy man.
Allowing City to steal Otamendi out from under him has been one of Woodward's finest pieces of transfer business over the years iyam.
We already have one Argentine CB with a questionable reputation on the roster anyway. Spoiler Although hopefully for not much longer.
He was on loan at his childhood club Estudiantes and I think he was basically quarantined in Argentina for a while. Feels like this is the summer he finally leaves the club. Only has one year left on his contract so last chance to try to get something for him. Also I think I remember him saying he wanted to extend his loan, which would pretty much end his time at the club as well.
According to this site/blog, he returned to Manchester a week ago. https://www.unitedinfocus.com/news/marcos-rojo-returns-to-manchester-after-estudiantes-loan/amp/
Doubtful he pushes out wide. He's a central player. Probably best suited for Pogba's role as an 8 imo. He has a good work rate and pretty decent tackles per game stats at Ajax too. I'd be interested to see if Ole tries him as a 6 at some point with Bruno/Pogba on the field at the same time.
Mason had a zoom interview for his England call up and two assholes had the nerve to 1. ask him about Maguire 2. call him Marcus
Fantastic piece of business that significantly elevates our midfield depth and hedges against Pogba leaving if that relationship goes south again.
OMG just pay the full asking price for Sancho. Also Mason is clearly the starter if no Sancho and should James be playing behind Rashford? He was only mostly used on right because of injury depth issues?
