I wouldn't call the Beatles a metal band obviously, but I do think they had a big influence.

eh, fuck it. new opinion: if theres no harsh vocals its not metal, its just fancy rock

I wouldn’t say there was anything necessarily “metal” about either. But I would definitely think they were influential on the groups that established the genre, so would qualify as progenitors.

Pretty good dividing line between all harsh vocals, mixed, and all melodic. I like all but the former has to come in smaller doses for me

Definitely a strong chance. I’ve often seen Master of Reality listed as the classic stoner album

Just returned from the dog park. On the outskirts of the fenced park is a small wooded area about an acre or two in size and has paved pathways through it. There was a teen there in a Children Of Bodom t-shirt trying to take selfies like he's in the middle of the forest, holding his phone at an angle so you see trees but not the paved path in which he came in or the main road just feet away. I wanted to clown him but decided not to discourage him or what he's doing. I'm getting soft in my old age.

I'd been meaning to listen to this after seeing someone make a similar comment I guess on a youtube video or something, so thanks, reminds of the first time I heard Tomorrow Never Knows by them and being surprised as fuck it was a Beatles song

Martin Birch died. Absolutely legendary producing CV.

Did 9 Maiden albums, 2 Black Sabbath albums, 2 Deep Purple albums, and just a ton of other stuff. Retired at 42 after "Fear of the Dark".

I missed out on the progenitors of metal/punk discussion. For me it's Sabbath, Deep Purple, and The Kinks.

also the boys released a one-off banger featuring scott kelly like two weeks ago. at this point i kind of hate discussions about who the best drummer is but brann dailor absolutely rips here.

the part at the end :ahh:

Recommendations for more symphonic/technical bands or albums like Fleshgod Apocalypse's last two Albums, Veleno and King. The less cleans the better.

Never really got into Lamb of God but I've always loved this song. Randy Blythe sounds great even though I'm pretty sure there is some kind of filter on his voice

new Audn track from the upcoming album.

Icelandic black metal, less dissonant and more 'orthodox' (for lack of a better word) than some of their peers.

Currently enjoying the new Cytotoxin album, but I'm kind of tired of Unique Leader trying to make all their bands sound alike with the the same shitty ultra processed clean production job that is best suited for metalcore bands.
