I wouldn’t say there was anything necessarily “metal” about either. But I would definitely think they were influential on the groups that established the genre, so would qualify as progenitors.
Pretty good dividing line between all harsh vocals, mixed, and all melodic. I like all but the former has to come in smaller doses for me
Just returned from the dog park. On the outskirts of the fenced park is a small wooded area about an acre or two in size and has paved pathways through it. There was a teen there in a Children Of Bodom t-shirt trying to take selfies like he's in the middle of the forest, holding his phone at an angle so you see trees but not the paved path in which he came in or the main road just feet away. I wanted to clown him but decided not to discourage him or what he's doing. I'm getting soft in my old age.
I'd been meaning to listen to this after seeing someone make a similar comment I guess on a youtube video or something, so thanks, reminds of the first time I heard Tomorrow Never Knows by them and being surprised as fuck it was a Beatles song
Martin Birch died. Absolutely legendary producing CV. Did 9 Maiden albums, 2 Black Sabbath albums, 2 Deep Purple albums, and just a ton of other stuff. Retired at 42 after "Fear of the Dark". I missed out on the progenitors of metal/punk discussion. For me it's Sabbath, Deep Purple, and The Kinks.
idk man I loved Uada’s first two albums but I am not feeling either of these new tracks. I passed on the pre-order. where’s the aggression? no venom.
it's like post-rock wearing a black metal costume. i felt the similarly about their release from a month ago or whatever. but i like it.
also the boys released a one-off banger featuring scott kelly like two weeks ago. at this point i kind of hate discussions about who the best drummer is but brann dailor absolutely rips here. the part at the end
Recommendations for more symphonic/technical bands or albums like Fleshgod Apocalypse's last two Albums, Veleno and King. The less cleans the better.
Never really got into Lamb of God but I've always loved this song. Randy Blythe sounds great even though I'm pretty sure there is some kind of filter on his voice
i like LoG up through Ashes. The newest album is pretty good too. the live album Killadelphia is particularly great.
new Audn track from the upcoming album. Icelandic black metal, less dissonant and more 'orthodox' (for lack of a better word) than some of their peers.
new Wayfarer coming out in Oct. this track absolutely slays, really high quality USBM with Native American/Western lyrical content.
Really disappointed in myself for not giving death/progressive/technical metal an earlier chance Currently in love with Archspire Revocation and Cattle Decapitation
Really good Prog/Tech Metal bands to check out: Slugdge Obscura Vektor (lead singer is a piece of shit, though) Gorod Allegaeon
if you don’t follow hate5six on social media, you should check him out. mostly hardcore bands but really high quality footage and a great glimpse of the scene. he’s based in Philadelphia.
Currently enjoying the new Cytotoxin album, but I'm kind of tired of Unique Leader trying to make all their bands sound alike with the the same shitty ultra processed clean production job that is best suited for metalcore bands.
In case you need further proof that slam is a joke of a genre. When you think about it what other outcome could there have been? It's not like they have the skill set to cover competent bands.
I like Inferi but don’t love the departure in lyrical content. There are better Lovecraft-focused bands. Sulphur Aeon, for example.
also sulphur aeon is too slow and they have far too many truly terrible vocal sections. growls are fine, but the spoken and shouted parts are just bad.
