Because you have nearly twice as many NHLers as we do. Pretty simple. Canada is obviously the best hockey country. It’s also obvious that their share of NHL talent has been dropping significantly for a long time as other parts of the world develop their game. It’s also fun to point out that a Canadian team hasn’t won the cup in 23 years :-)
I was kidding a little and I know you got that, and your point is well taken. The thing is, Canadian hockey has never been this healthy in my humble opinion but like you said other countries are also trying and narrowing the gap, especially the us. It’s a matter of time until we are neck and neck. one thing that disgust me is how québec is fading away fast, it’s such a shitty system here. Always trying to make everybody participate and not competing. Hockey Quebec is such a fucking joke , let’s manufacture some jobs for some fucking dumbasses that will sit in an office and make important decisions on some things that they only read about, we have plenty of former players who could take care of hockey In Quebec but these assholes don’t want to lose their jobs. it’s typical Quebec.
Not finding anything. But he would just ditch his stick 4-5 times in each of the last two games when there was heavy traffic around him. Never seen anything like it. Game 6 to commenters were wondering if he was tired. But nah, he kept doing it in game 7 as well.
And I know why people jumped on the avs, they are so fucking good but also young and they miss a bit of depht vegas is deep and fast dallas is also deep. They just never impress me, if goaltending is equal Dallas never make it this far, avs were fucked by goaltending. This won’t happen against Vegas
Never bet against Rick Bowness this is his moment. his time to shine. his opportunity to take over the game.
I guess I was wrong about the Islanders chances tonight. That was a perfect game from their perspective. The Flyers are certainly a tough team and with what looks like a franchise caliber goalie they should be in the mix for a while. I’ve always enjoyed the craziness of the Flyers crowds and have attending a playoff game there (preferably against the Caps or Pens) on my bucket list. Tampa is going to put the Isles discipline on notice - they certainly haven’t matched up well against them in the past but hoping it can be a good series.
game 7 in philly would’ve been a different ball game for sure. But the isles were clearly the better team. i am very intrigued by that matchup. Tampa would prefer playing a high flying team, they struggle sometimes against disciplined teams that like to frustrate you.
Couple keys for the Lightning: -Must stay patient. I think playing Columbus earlier helps since they clogged things up. They can’t force things against the Islanders. It’s going to be tough to get offense going at times, can’t get frustrated by that. They feel more “blue collar” than previous years and haven’t tried to be as fancy in the offensive zone. -Second line has to produce. Point’s line has been great all postseason and the third line has been very good. Cirelli’s line with Killorn and Johnson has been below average. Boston and Columbus were essentially one line teams so it didn’t burn them but the Isles are getting contributions from everyone. They have to be a lot better this round.
i would add another key, and it’s obvious but the power play must produce. Teams like the isles do not give up chances five on five
Special teams are always important. Lightning have been ok there so far but obviously will need a few big goals there in the series. The ones I listed are just two things that stick out to me in particular.
i know, and your first point is the most important thing. Tampa is a team that can get frustrated when things don’t go their way.
I think they used to be that way, but this season they are certainly less so than previous years. There were times where Columbus was frustrating the shit out of them in the first round; last year and further back they'd get dumb and take stupid penalties, keep trying to score when they just needed to protect the lead. This year they are playing more disciplined, not taking stupid penalties (still too many IMO but not the same kind) and playing better defense. Their trade deadline guys are playing well and influencing the team in the right ways. Even Bogosian, who I thought would be a liability, has been effective.
the third line of gourde, Coleman and the other guy are also a huge matchup issue for the other teams. When you get a plus one or more every night from your third line you are in business.
There is one Canadian franchise in the nba and they won the championship how about taking shit out of context peasants? Let’s do this all night if you want.
yeah Gourde/Coleman/Goodrow have been excellent. Johnson hasn't been great but I don't think you're giving Cirelli and Killorn enough credit, they have both been everywhere on the ice. The goals aren't really coming for them but they are playing great defense and Cirelli has been doing a great job taking up space in front of the goalie. I'd say he's responsible for at least 3 goals where he deflected or obscured the goalie's vision. Tampa's also getting production up and down the lineup. Palat and Hedman are of course on fire, but Coleman is playing great too, Goodrow too. I think Kucherov has underperformed pretty significantly in both series, they played three games without McDonagh, and of course no Stamkos. I would say they have played better than I expected, the Isles are a whole other story than the other two teams, they are the hottest team in the playoffs, but I don't see the Bolts making the same mistakes they have in previous years.
lol not sure how to take that since I don't know how the thread feels about Pierre but I'll say thanks
It’s not negative at all, I was just kidding a little since Pierre seems to always talk a lot and describe every details too much. and now it sounds negative... but trust me it was just a little joke without any bad intentions
You didn’t give any details on their hometowns or players they played peewees with so I wouldn’t call you Pierre. And I don’t think I’ve ever met a hockey fan that enjoys his commentary.
